I know I'm not the only one it's happened to. I only checked bc someone made a post on Reddit. This doesn't look good
Well my charge only went on in the last 8hrs so I don't think it's about to disappear. Was yours a very early charge? Maybe Apple waited to long to finalize it?
Mine is still thereCheck your bank accounts folks. Apple just removed the charge on my bank account. Looks like we're in for the long wait
It sucks because I leave for vacation next week and needed this laptop. I might have to get the non TB and cancel my order and then go back and return it when I come home and get the TB
I don't mean to complain but Apple butchered this release so I really have a right to. Like this is ridiculous that 2 weeks after launch there's no in-store displays or stock and no information for us who ordered online.
Anyone remember when Apple keynotes ended with "...and they'll be available.. today."

How did Apple butcher this release? Not a single person yet has entered their delivery estimate. A couple of people start tomorrow, but i have literally seen 2 people with theirs opening on 11th.
If you reach the end of your delivery estimate, then yes, i would agree that Apple have butchered it, but until then they have done nothing wrong. They have pre-auth'ed our cards and our orders are processing.
I'm one of the first delivery slots of 14th-21st.....but until its the 22nd and i still don't have my MBP then i cant say they have butchered it at all.
Except.. again.. there's no models in-store even to see or check out. No reviews because the embargo is still up. No official release date, we have our order delivery estimates but there's no for sure day when they'll actually be in store - the site says November 25th but who knows, the AirPods were "late October", and the iPhone 7+s that also had in-store/shipping dates are still not delivered for some.
On top of that, yes we haven't entered the delivery period but people are getting charged/authorized randomly, most people have been on processing for TWO WEEKS after a product was announced with no update, etc.
It's a pretty bad release. I want mine badly, but they could've done this way way better for a product that was anticipated for 4 years.

I see all of these complaints about an issue that hasn't occurred yet. Wait until your delivery window has passed and then complain. As far as no demo model in store. You can try a demo in the store, just not with the Touch Bar, if that is not enough, then wait and order after the reviews are posted and after the demos are available. If you are going be an early adopter, you are going to be an early adopter.Except.. again.. there's no models in-store even to see or check out. I guess there's a few out in glass cases in NYC? In fact, Phil Schiller actually didn't even say they would launch in 2-3 weeks. He said they would begin shipping in 2-3 weeks; so while three weeks would be at the tail end, there's still another week to go until Apple "botched" anything with this launch.Apple said these would launch in "2-3 weeks". When they 'launch' they'll be in stores and on our doorsteps. Sure a firm date would've been nice, but Apple hasn't been dishonest through any of this process. They gave a date range for delivery and a date range for launch; which is when they'll be in stores to be played with.
How many VMs do you use? I only have use for one running Windows 10, and it looks like an Amazon Workspaces account is 25$ a month for a pretty limited virtualized computer (1 vCPU, 2GB ram, 10GB storage). I'm sure i'm missing something as Amazon usually prices their products / services competitively, can you quickly explain the benefits?

don't know about in the US but the UK have them in stores, at least one store I know of has them on display to play with
Apple didn't necessarily remove anything. Before was a pre-auth. Some banks automatically drop pre-auths off that don't "post". Apple has yet to "post" the charges. It's simply the behavior of the bank. For one, companies can't "remove" a charge anyway. They can refund your money, sure. If you get a refund from Apple, you might be worried. But it was simply a pre-authorization that, for lack of a better term, "timed out". And every bank handles that a little differently. If it hadn't timed out, eventually, when the product ships, the charge would "post". If it fell off, then you'll get a new (but identical) charge later. That one will be a "hard charge" that may show up as a pre-auth or pending charge at first, but will post right away.
My theory about why there's a disparity between those who have and have no been "charged", and those reporting the pre-auth dropping off, is that Apple fired off pre-authorizations to all of the BTO orders. Just to ensure that the money was 'there' before they built the machines. We'll get a posted charge when these actually ship.
Isn't that the truth. My MBP and my homebuilt desktop PC are the same age; and yet the Desktop PC has had Windows re-installed twice. At least we can FINALLY upgrade versions of Windows without too much fuss. That had ALWAYS been something great about Macs, even back in the way old days of OS 8/9. You upgrade to the new OS, and all of your 'stuff' is just there. Upgrade from Windows 98 to Windows XP (same era?), your "stuff" is in a a special folder, nothing looks the same and half of your hardware doesn't work. That's gotten better, but Windows in general still doesn't have great reliability.
I've never had to do anything to my 2012 MBP nor have I ever had any sort of kernel panics or anything like that. It's just worked. And when I did upgrade the SSD from 256GB to a 480GB drive, it was a piece of cake to mirror the drive and then swap. Apple even includes the utilities, no need for complicated third party software.
Yes, according to the report on my uk based forum, AVForums, Covent Garden Apple Store has the TB models on displayDo they have the models with the Touch Bar on display though? I think most/all stores have the non-touchbar edition to play with but what the OP means is can we actually touch the Touch Bar lol.
Amen. Drivers for this, drivers for that. Crap, can't find my original installation CDs. HDMI output or sound mysteriously not working? Oh wait, lets run Windows update repeatedly and restart a hundred times and still get failure on several updates. Pain in the butt. I agree windows has gotten noteably better, but I think macs have come a long way as well in making the switch feasable/easier for me. Software options seem to be quite good for Macs these days. Looking forward to my first Mac, this is going to kick ass!

Yea that does sound pretty convenient. For my use case, I only use Windows 10 for some legacy software and otherwise all my work files are in cloud storage and I generally edit them on the Mac. That said, there's been a few times where I didn't have my Mac and needed to use my Windows 10 VM. I'll keep on the lookout for a price decreaseI run a large amount of my companies infrastructure on AWS and Azure, only recently started to checkout their hosted VDI services. As a VDI, it works remarkably well. I run their 2vCPU, 8GB, 100gb storage tier and while it is expensive, it is extremely stable. An always on computer available from pretty much any device, the iPad app is great too. I don't see the price coming down until Microsoft launches a true competitor to it. When it comes to the new Macbook, I see it as an opportunity to have access to a full Windows OS without hogging resources and allowing true continuity regardless of the devices i'm accessing it from. It's definitely not for everyone and is pricey, but it opens a lot of doors.
