I'm not sure if the shipping estimates will be different, but if you are buying a base model with no upgrades, B&H Photo/Video (www.bhphotovideo.com) doesn't charge tax for items shipping outside NY state. I use them all the time for electronics and it's a real standup company.

How do you know?! Where/when did you order?

Ordered about half hour after announcement, I was going to buy a 17 inch unibody mbp running lion, but I figured I would rather have something new and I really really really like the color

Ships: 3-4 weeks
Delivers 25 Nov, 2016 - 02 Dec, 2016 by Standard Shipping

These next few weeks are going to feel longer than the time i've started waiting for the announcement (which was my registration date here)

15 inch has slipped to 4-5 weeks now which matches with the 13 inch.

Interesting...

Although I've already ordered, this is not the direction I wanted to hear. I'm leaving the US halfway through my shipping estimate, and I'm praying for an early delivery.

Mine arrives here tommorow!

Nice! What was your original delivery date? I ordered the exact same model as you and I saw that it shipped on Friday afternoon, but the status on the UPS site is just "order processed - ready for UPS". The Apple order said it would arrive next Friday, but I've got my fingers crossed it comes earlier.

Long time lurker, but after waiting for quite a while this new update had everything I've been looking for (plus my old MacBook Pro is on its very last legs haha)

Old:
2007 15-inch MacBook Pro

    • 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
    • 2GB 667MHz memory
    • 120GB SATA 5400rpm
    • NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 128MB memory

New:
2016 15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray

  • 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 1TB PCIe-based SSD
  • Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory
If I look at these computers as nearly decade long investments, they actually end up being relatively cheep.
Wholy fxxx that will feel like getting out of a 1988 Honda Civic and sitting in a Tesla for the first time!

I'm switching from a 2011 13" to a 13" with touchbar. I BTO'd it with 16GB of RAM. It says it'll be available for pick up from the Apple Store on Nov 25th, but is there any chance it might arrive earlier?

I actually remember owning exactly the same model years ago. In fact, I never sold it and still have it at home under my bed; its removable battery exploded at some point, which I had to discard. I believe, it's still working though, while plugged into wall.

Did anyone else's order total go down since ordering? Just looked at the order status mine says $2068. Went to the first confirmation email and it says $2083. Guess im saving $15 without doing anything.

Nice work!

May I suggest people quote Scissor's message every page or so? That way, new people popping up may see his message.

Thanks! I have added a "order time" column in addition to "order date" as someone has requested. The reason I didn't previously is because it can get a bit messy when we all need to use the same time zone (potentially the order time PST is the previous date...)

Long time lurker... I've been on this thread from day 1. I had a 15" 2009 MacBook Pro where early this year the hard-drive gave up and I ended up replacing with a very cheap PC laptop feeling that the 15" model was long overdue for proper updates. I did take my laptop to the Apple store where they indicated that my laptop had become obsolete.

Ordered on day of launch (seems like the most popular choice for 15" users based on other orders here)
15" Space Grey Macbook Pro
2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
512GB PCIe-based SSD
Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory

w/ Apple Care

Delivers 18 Nov - 24 Nov by Standard Shipping

Also ordered for my sister on day launch (a few hours after mine):
13" Space Grey Macbook Pro
Touch Bar and Touch ID
2.9GHz Processor
256 GB Storage

  • 2.9GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
  • Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
  • 8GB 2133MHz memory
  • 256GB PCIe-based SSD1
  • Intel Iris Graphics 550
Her delivery is 3-4 weeks (compared to mine 2-3 weeks).

I am coming from a 2010 HP laptop and just Pre-Ordered the 15". It took me a few days to convince myself to spend this much money on a laptop but i know it will be worth it.

15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray
$2,935.01
• 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 512GB PCIe-based SSD
• Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory

My shipping time is 4-5 weeks now when earlier today it was 3-4 weeks. Apparently waiting a few hours to order it today was a big mistake.

Just waiting to hear that someone's been charged/is shipping. Once that happens we should all get them. Especially if you live in a major city like I do. I just hope in store pickup doesn't make it take longer for some reason, bc as of now it says the 25th compared to the 17th for most

In theory and hopefully yes, but from experience it hasn't always happened that way... Apple have sometimes built similar/same configs together and ship in batches. Almost always they ship ahead of the anticipated date to make it look like they are doing you a favor/favour (or maybe it's just that some people ahead of your order cancel theirs... :p )

Picked this up on announcement day:

15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray
With the following configuration:
• 2.9GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.8GHz
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 1TB PCIe-based SSD
• Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory

I'm still pending, happy to update when I get charged/ship.

Ordered the 13 inch on announcement day:
  • 2.9GHz Dual-core Intel Core i5
  • 16GB 2133MHz LPDDR3 SDRAM
  • Intel Iris Graphics 550
  • 256GB PCIe-based SSD
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • KYBD/USER'S GUIDE-GBR
  • COUNTRY KIT-GBR
Processing items. Delivery: 16-23 November.

Funny how people interpret

"Education pricing is available to university students, students accepted into university, parents buying for university students, and teachers and staff at all levels."

As "for anyone who doesn't fancy paying the correct price."

It's fraud, and it's a middle finger to Apple who are doing this as a goodwill to university students. The discount and the free warranty have already been reduced this year. If this abuse is widespread, don't be surprised to see the discount go entirely. Annoying.
I almost did this... almost.
