Can't please everyone!

EDIT: If it's any help, when the Macs start to ship, the split may seem more useful as the focus for each of us will be more on our home region.

You are welcome to copy the data from this spreadsheet into your own, bringing each of the sheets together (which I split from the single sheet this afternoon) - though appreciate that may not be of great use as the data will then no longer be live.

Just as a thought, you could add a tab that has all the data aggregated together. Just a thought.

Will shipping times eventually go down after they release? I think I'm going to save up a little more and buy a higher spec model sometime in December. I hope I don't have to wait 4 weeks until January

Hi ! Ordered this one right after the Keynote !

Can't wait ! I currently have a MBP mid-2010, I put a SSD, maxed out the RAM to 8 GO and changed the battery (yes... that was still a possibility on this model ) but it seems that it's dying...

Deliver 24 November - 2 December

Old 2008:
15" MacBook Pro Unibody
2.4 GHz Core2Duo
4 GB DDR3
128 GB SSD (OWC aftermarket)
GeForce 9600M 256 GB VRAM

New 2016:
15" MacBook Pro w/ Touch Bar
Space Grey
2.6 GHz Quad Core i7
16 GB LPDDR3
512 GB Flash
Radeon Pro 460 4 GB VRAM

I've been waiting almost 6 months for Apple to finally announce this machine (since the day I found out my trusty 2008 would no longer be supported for OS updates) and it is going to be a massive improvement!
woah

256GB VRAM in 2008

I've created a Google Docs spreadsheet which can be edited by all so we can add our orders and compare progress:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1WLB7Tqsyvettq9VYCBR-S5D7AzcCMPEZpMhaGa2cFsM/edit?usp=sharing

Please add your order to the spreadsheet and update when your order changes status! That will then give those of us waiting an idea as to whether orders are shipping early.
Spreadsheet is growing nicely!

The AMD 455 seems relatively rare. Either people don't care about graphics and take the base model, or they bump it up.

Coming off of a 6 year old machine, you're going to soar like an eagle with that new order :)

I ordered a 13 inch rMBP w/ Touch Bar (16GB, 512GB, stock everything else) on 30 October with 4-5 weeks expected delivery date to Australia. Looking forward to something smaller as it will be replacing an early 2013 15 inch rMBP (also 16GB, 512GB, stock everything else). I have been looking to get something smaller for a while due to portability, but have been waiting for something that can handle light gaming (binding of isaac, civ 6, pillars of eternity) on low-medium settings with decent frame rates above 30fps.

After looking at some benchmarks it seems that this GPU actually performs slightly better in some cases than the 650m in my current laptop! Can't wait!

The 455 seems kind of redundant to me, because I reckon at the same $2,799 price, 2.6GHz/512GB/460 is the better option for most use cases than 2.7GHz/512GB/455. I personally went for 2.6GHz/512GB/460, the GPU in my 2012 gets a right beating, but I've never done much to stretch the CPU.

I went with the stock version 2.7/512/455 hoping I might get it sooner (a BTO might take longer) since I'm in dire straits for a new Mac. GPU not as important for me based on my usage.

Thats what im debating. They are pretty much the same price but one option has a better cpu while the other has a better gpu. Im not sure how much better .1 ghz is in performance

I think when I checked out the details, it was an average 4% increase overall (depending on task) from 2.6GHz to 2.7GHz, so basically proportionate to the clock speed increase. 455 to 460 is about a 43% increase in terms of peak performance (1.3 teraflops vs 1.86 teraflops) but there are no benchmarks to say how that translates to real world performance, but I'd imagine it would still exceed the CPU difference considerably.

Thats interesting. I think most people would probably take the better gpu then. But for me I dont really game or do photo/video editing, so I think i might go with the better cpu. Or maybe even just go with the base 2.6 ghz because its still pretty good

Yeah. It's a wild guess based on previous trends. There will probably be a price cut. The Retina MacBook Pro, when it first launched, was a big price increase. Then it fell in price in the following years. And there will probably be an upgrade. None of that should really surprise anyone.

If you're waiting for Apple to release the "final product", where they get on stage and say "This is it. For eternity it will be this price, and we'll never upgrade it, we finally built the perfect computer", well, you missed your chance; that was the Apple II (Steve Jobs famously said the Apple II was so powerful and innovative, it was the last computer you'd ever need to buy).

Apple is going to continue to upgrade; prices are going to continue to bounce around, and each major generation is probably going to represent a price increase; along with price cuts and minor spec refreshes in the next couple of years. I purchased the last non-retina MacBook Pro (mid 2012), and I ordered the first TouchBar MacBook Pro. What I do in the future will probably be more determined by my needs and budget; and less by what a Chinese security firm tells me is going to happen in five years. If I'm ready for a new notebook; I'll wait a few months for an impending release. But I'm not going to skip an entire generation because next years might possibly, maybe, have more RAM. And, it may also not COME next year. It may be 2018 that we see a refresh to these models. It might be next week. It's Apple; we seriously don't know.

I ordered the following on the 29th replacing an early 2011 MBP 15" i7.

15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray

With the following configuration:
• 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 512GB PCIe-based SSD
• Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory
• Backlit Keyboard (English) & User's Guide
• Four Thunderbolt 3 ports
• Touch Bar and Touch ID
• Force Touch trackpad
• Accessory Kit

For instore pickup on Dec 6th!

Ordered it for Instock Pickup in NH to save on sales tax. I called barclaycard today and asked them about the 0% financing and I do have it but it will only be active for 30 days (so I didn't activate it because I won't have it in 30 days). If I do instore pickup when will the charge post? When I pick it up or when they send it to the store.

They told me if it was a preorder that it would still qualify for the 0% even if it is after the 30 days because you have no control over the shipping. They said save the preorder email in case there is an issue and you can show you bought it during the 0% period. They also told me that I had to activate it 24 hours before I ordered or it wouldn't apply even on a preorder so I had them activate the 0% and waited 24 hours. I figured if it doesn't show under the 0% I have a valid argument that it was active when I ordered.

Been waiting for new MBPs to start moving some staff to them.

2 each: 15", 2.9GHz, Radeon Pro 460

1 w/ 512GB SSD + 1 w/ 2TB (for me to to juggle images)

Gotta play for a week or two with these to work out any Sierra bugs with VectorWorks and other software before I REALLY go shopping.

I'm also curious if others will be utilizing the Touch Bar without serious redesigns of their workstations. We keep our laptops on stands as a second monitor and use external KB/Mouse. Since they didn't announce a touchbar KB (yet) I'll need to think about how we're going to roll these out if we're hoping to use the new gadgetry.

I use mine while it's closed in the office (connected to a TB display), and on a stand with a second monitor at home. I don't plan on changing either setup and will use TouchBar when I'm on the go.

My concern is it appears from the demo's that at least some of the UI elements moved to the touch bar are REMOVED from the application. Hopefully they'll re-appear when an external keyboard is detected. My setup is similar. I want to use my larger display as the 'main display' and the only way to do that is to off-set the MacBook Pro. And the only way to do THAT is to use an external keyboard and mouse.

I bought a Mac Mini for the office to avoid needing to lug my laptop back and forth. Though that may change with my 15" MacBook Pro which will be significantly more powerful than my Mac Mini; we'll see. But at home I have a dual-display setup I switch between my MacBook Pro and the windows PC. The second display is always connected to the Windows PC, and I open up the MBP in front of the second display, and IT becomes the second display, when using the Mac. (which, by the way, is going to require adapters and more come the arrival of my new 2016. Still haven't figured out exactly how I want to do that.)

OK, ding-ding!

I think we have a front runner in the MBP 15" Europe Club!

simnik123 should get it first with a very tasty estimated delivery of November 11 to November 18!

Apple'a guidelines state that the TouchBar should not be the only place for options/settings (it should only duplicate on-screen options). So, at least with Apple's own applications, you can continue to work without access to the TouchBar. My inclination is that they pop up when you move the trackpad to the top of the screen (like how apps show the menu in full screen mode now).

As for adapters OWC and Belkin will be releasing TB3 docks. So now you'll just need to plug in a single cable (and what's cooler is that you get to save the included charger for on the go, as both solutions will charge your laptop). That's $100 I'd of had to pay for a charger that's now being pushed towards the docking solution, effectively costing the dock at under $100 (hopefully).
