So, I'm one of the people who has been hating on Apple for a year waiting for an update.

For those of you complaining, think for a moment. What most of us wanted was for Apple to provide current Intel/AMD/Nvidia hardware rather than 3 year old junk.

Apple did that. As far as the update coming next year or the year after, this is exactly what we want and have been crying for. It is simply Apple staying current with Intel/AMD.

This means your laptop will go obsolete at the rate Intel / AMD updates technology which is what we want.

As far as the 32Gb memory / Ports / AMD choice, these all have valid design reasons. If you disagree with them, that's fine. But it simply means Apple's design goals didn't match yours.

I bit the bullet and made my order just now, for a Space Grey 13" MBP with Touch Bar, the lowest specs available. With the education discount it came to £1,575, which is more than I've spent on any one thing except for my car.

I've got a delivery window of the 7th-13th December which might kill me. I would have ordered earlier, but didn't have the money in my account - had forgotten that that wasn't an issue until dispatch.

Ordered
13" Space Gray 2.9 - 256GB - Touch Bar = $1799
USB-C to Lightning adaptor = $25
USB-C to USB adaptor = $19
CA Tax (8%) = 147.44
Total = $1993.44

October is an expensive month.

Got 6 years out of my 2010 MBP, better get 6 out of this one.

TIL California tax is less than Louisiana tax (10.75%). Just my 13" MBP w/touch + tax was $1,992.39

i wish i could switch from 512GB hard drive to 1TB but it would change my delivery date  so im just sticking with what i got. is it nov 17th yet?

ordered 10/30:

Delivers: Nov 29 - Dec 6 by Standard Shipping

15-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray
• 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 512GB PCIe-based SSD
• Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory

Went with 512 because 1TB won't change my situation (I need more than 1TB and I'm not spending $$$$ for 2TB) so I'll just add external storage for my Lightroom and Music collections.

11/29-12/6 is perfect because I'm out of town during Thanksgiving and again the week after the delivery window.

• 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.5GHz
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 512GB PCIe-based SSD
• Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB memory

Delivers 12/8 - 12/14

Sorry if this has been suggested already, but people in the USA could order through an out of state Authorized Apple Reseller to avoid the taxes being charged. Many of these people will gladly take your order over the phone. BH Photo in NYC is one that springs to mind immediately.

That's a good choice. I don't think the 2.9ghz chip would make that much of a difference...

That's exactly what I did. I originally had a Nov17-25 delivered date. Now its from Dec 6th to 13 lol

6% Michigan. I would have ordered it from third party but 1) I didn't want to wait any longer, and 2) They are not offering BTO model yet.

Good choice. That's my exact configuration.

I'm waiting for reviews of systems with the touchbar, but I'm not really sure why. I need to get a MBP and I know the specs that I want (thanks to some on this forum for the help in making my decision). Anyone else hesitant? I don't know what a review could say that would stop me from getting it...

I wish there were at least demo models in the store that I could go see and mess with.
