If you live near an Apple Store and have yet to be charged, run over there. They have a lot of variations in stock (at least in the US). It might be faster to just pick it up and cancel the online order. Many stores don't report their stock acurately over the phone
In Europe they don't even have TouchBar MacBooks in the show room :(

I know it's not the best scenario but I would just go and try to make the best of it. I traveled 3 1/2 hours to get mine. The store refused to hold it and wouldn't even tell me how many they had in stock that morning, just "low quantities" (they had at least 3 when I left though). I figured my shot was good for a $2800 machine so I left as quickly as possible.

Like every Sunday, the Order page is in maintenance. From 10:00 (Spain hour)
To be honest, I don't understand this. Which kind of maintenance requires taking down the page every Sunday? I wanted to check my status and got prompted with the exact same page here in Germany.

"Our order status service is currently in great demand. Please try again later."

Not sure if you're serious but this is classic IT. This maintenance window was probably negotiated long, long ago before the online store ever came online. You tell the business that you can leave the store up for a majority of a week/month whatever but you need a certain period of time, 2-3 hours to perform maintenance on the web servers and web applications driving the store. During this very brief period they're probably upgrading whatever they need to + checking to make sure everything went smoothly. The entire store probably isn't going through a major overhaul on any given week (though it could), however they may be pulling metrics or swapping in/out modules and applications, this could cause the page to behave erratically for the end user. At the end of the maintenance window, if things don't look well, roll back the changes and try again next week.

Imagine if changes need to be made to the app that processes web payments from the store. A terribly managed ecommerce shop will just do this on the fly, whenever they feel like it. Users could be greeted with anything from a blank page or (worse) malformed transactions being submitted for processing.

Wow, that's a big drive! Kudos and cool that you got one! I will take a shot on Monday or Tuesday of this next week, especially if I can get them to tell me that they have one or two in stock. (Even getting them to let you know is hard 9 times of ten.)

You're not alone... my expected STS date is a month from tomorrow (12/21) so there's not much to say except to moan about not having my new computer yet. Believe me, I'm doing enough of that as I sit here waiting. What's worse is I choose Space Grey, but now I'm thinking I'd like to stick with Silver, but I don't want to cancel and get my order pushed back another 2 weeks. (Then I remind myself that I'm extremely lucky to have these first world problems.)

Yup, I'm the the 3-4 week area with it arriving between the 29th & 6th. I saw some people getting charged in the 3-4 week area but not me yet... I just cant wait as I'm so excited....

Lol im 3-4 weeks with delievery 23 nov - 1st dec. No charge, no movement.

If you order today the shipping dates will be 30 Dec - 4 Jan. That is not far from your current dates. I actually canceled my order today (12-16Dec) just to change to silver and my new shipping window 30 Dec to 4 Jan. I'm still happy for what I did. :)

I'm already having impatience problems with the 21st. I doubt I can make it sanely until the 3rd. ;)

I thought about silver too, but I saw the two colors in store and the silver, with that long touch bar, seemed "off" to me, like it was too jarring. The space grey, with the blsck touch bar, looked more striking to me.

I ordered one yesterday and am quoted for Dec 28 - Jan 3, which is perfect because it's right before I leave for CES!!

Yeah, I was happily amused when I found the configuration I wanted.

I can tell you though that they may not have every configuration in both colors

I was told by an Apple tech when I told him the config I ordered, that they wouldn't have a config like mine in store. I have a window of Dec. 19-23.
 
My 15" stock order from B&H was just sent to the warehouse for shipping! I kept my Apple order open just in case but it looks like I am definitely cancelling it as it still just processing.
 
I'm super happy for those of you that are popping into your local Apple Store and walking out with your dream machine, but it really bums me out because the nearest Apple Store is over an hour from me (plus traffic) and that is a huge time commitment to take a chance and hope one is there. I know Apple cannot hold stock for me, but I wish I could confirm that the model I want is actually in stock before I commit to the drive.

Email the business team at your local store and ask them if they have the one you are looking for in stock. That is what I did to find my laptop. I even paid for it over the phone so that there was no doubt it was my laptop.

Ignore the tech and ask them to check the back room. They told me the same thing and I emailed the business team and that store had my custom config.

I went to the apple store today and liked the silver one more

I think that config is actually in a lot of stores. There are three stores where I live and the only higher end configuration they had were the max cpu with 1tb and 160 gpu
now u have to wait till next year to get it tho
