Email the business team at your local store and ask them if they have the one you are looking for in stock. That is what I did to find my laptop. I even paid for it over the phone so that there was no doubt it was my laptop.

I can't thank you enough for this advice! I never thought of that and I appreciate you passing on the idea. I'm actually a small business (full-time working photographer) and the idea of using Apple's Business team has never really been on my radar because like a lot of folks here, I feel very up to speed on all of Apple's capabilities/specs/etc.

I just got off the phone with the centralized business team call center and after speaking with him for a few moments and explaining that I wanted to minimize my down-time, he totally agreed and said the business team at my local store would be glad to help me out. He gave me their email address and I just wrote them a moment ago. I imagine that I will hear back from them on Monday or Tuesday and we can look at options from there.

Thanks again!

Ordered my 15inch MBP with Radeon Pro 460 and 2.9Ghz quad core i7 (left 512 Gb SSD as I have many external hard drives for space hungry data). I placed the order the next day on Friday October 28th. It's been 4 weeks since then, and my order continues to say "processing" with an estimated delivery on Nov28th-dec 5th. Not sure what's taking Apple so long to bill me and ship my new toy. It'll be replacing a 2010 MacBook (white unibody) core 2 Duo, ram at 8 gb, with a 250gb SSD.
That is what I just ordered a few hours ago, wait time is Dec, 28-Jan4. I am also replacing the same thing, white MacBook nobody from late 2009.

Originally, I ordered a 15", 2.7, 1TB model the day of release. Estimated arrival was set for November 26 - December 1.

I decided to cancel that order later on because I realized between tax and processor speed, I could downgrade to 15", 2.6, 1TB supplied from B&H and save about $400. I placed that Order on November 6. Now I am waiting for updates from B&H.

The product is still marked "New Item - Coming Soon," and the order itself is marked "Processing." I am interested to hear when other B&H customers start receiving their machines.

Enjoy, everyone! :)

if the dGPU is not in use it won't be listed in About this Mac, but it should still be in the system profiler.

2 TB Nice, the TRUE ultimate config!

Okay cool thanks :) I only played with it for about 5 minutes so I didn't really have a chance to explore everything. But it sounds like two of the issues I brought up aren't really problems so that's always good to hear :) I'll have to do a proper verdict once mine finally arrives.

I ordered the 2.9,1Tb,460 yesterday with the business team here in Phoenix. My delivery is around the 4th. I'm hoping one comes in and I can just go get it. They have their radar out for me. I'm in a major hurry to get one as I need it before Christmas as I leave for a two week shoot on the 26th. They do get them in the store in the high configuration but you have to go to the store as they are not put online. I did this the last time I bought my 2013. They carry the high end model but only a few for folks like some of usthat are running a business and need this high end stuff. I already been working with someone since Friday on it so I have a business specialist on my side.

The business rule is for them you spend 5k in the last three years or something like that to qualify

Picked up the same mbp at a local store. Call around.
same with me, I ordered a 2.9 with Radeon 260, wait time, until after Christmas, but local store has the base model. I want to future proof this thing (well have it last me a long time without a need for upgrade for at least another 6 years), considering I have had a late 2009 white unibody. I take the hobby of producing music and video editing, any advise?

I mean, I have used the unibody for those hobbies, wondering how worth it would be for me to go all out here.

You know I'm sure someone more qualified than me in computer tech can advice you better but I'm a go for broke user as time and processing and uploading time for me is extremely important on some photo shoots so I go for broke. 1Tb is good enough as I off load everything anyway but having the fastest processor is very important as my Raw processing software Capture One is processor dependent more than Ram dependent so I always go to the top of the line. Graphics card is not as important unless you are doing more video type stuff but for the extra 100 bucks why not. Plus you get a better resale value on these things. Really the truck here on these 2016 models is your future proofing yourself with the USB-C connections. Most people don't see that but that's the future. Jump now or get left behind I say.

I can't believe I'm doing this but I'm going to be returning my brand new 15" MBP. It’s a lovely device and the touchid is killer feature but the speed just isn't there. I have a 2012 15" MBP and this machine is not much faster for what I use it for. Mainly for front-end development. I was expecting a big speed improvement compared to the 2012 model.

Well, I have some good news for you. Two people in this thread just reported that their B&H orders are in and being sent to the warehouse for shipping. I have no idea how deep the order line is at B&H, but they finally received their first batch and are now shipping!

What were you expecting to see faster? compiles, etc? Are your current CPUs pegged?

Sorry to hear that I am starting from a different point. I have a 2010 17" macbook pro, that i updated with a ssd drive and a 2015 13" macbook air. My other consideration is i got tired of carrying the 17" around everyday to work.

I kinda see that as a positive. It seems cpu advances have slown down by a lot now, which means macbook pros have a lot more longevity, even from 2012

I've been walking in and calling my local apple stores looking for a top config 15" SG with no avail. Wish I had the luck many you guys are having.

they seemed to keep increasing the date that the high end models will be int he stores it is now Jan.

I just checked istocknow for a few days, and was able to pick up my new Space Gray 15" tMBP yesterday morning from my local Apple Store. Still getting used to the new keys, new trackpad and touchbar. The color is gorgeous though.

Depends on what you mean by a top config one. The stores only have the 1TB version, and that one is in short-supply.

-The default resolution has been increased. Surprised I haven't heard much buzz about this. The 13" and 15" both have higher default resolutions now. Those of you that have the laptop already, are you using those higher resolutions (or setting it lower or higher--the lower one I noticed doesn't decrease the image and text quality at all)?

Can you elaborate? I just googled and they say that 13 is 2560-by-1600 for 15 and 16 models

Sorry, I meant the default scaled resolution. Used to be 1200x800 was the default "best for retina" resolution on the 13", now it's 1440x900 (and likewise the 15" has gone up from 1440x900 to 1650x1050). The native resolutions are the same.
