Day 1 order? Just checked my card but no such luck here :(
No, I actually ordered on Monday with the business team/account. Something doesn't appear to be right since I am the only one! Maybe a pre-auth for the full amount. Typically the pre-auth is only for $1.00.

I was the same to be honest, I looked at the space grey MacBooks in the store and they are considerably more scratched than the silver ones. However they're probably a lot more abused than my Mac at home... I think the truth of it is that the space grey will show scratches (Obviously because physics), so if you're the person who scratches these things easily and doesn't want it showing then get the silver. My silver MBP currently only has a couple of scratches on the lid, which happened the 1 time I chucked it in a bag without a case cause I was in a rush. And my portfolio hinge attacked it. As for smudging, that's something that will be visible the same way a smudge on your black glass coffee table is. But once it's been up for a week and covered in dust/wine/biscuit crumbs, they all blend nicely.

I've gone for space grey as it does look really nice, I like the way the light bounces off it to change the shade slightly at different angles.

Thanks, I think i'll stick with the space grey and get a case if it starts showing signs of wear.. It's either on my knee or in my bag which has a secure pouch so should be fine.

I don't think you should be worried. The Matte black iPhone 7, which you would think would be very prone to scratches, is actually very resistant to scratches.

Yeah good point, I have that iPhone and it's holding out fine.

I have had a lot of pre-auths be for the entire amount. It usually falls off after a few days.

Guys, :)
you need to help me out once again.

It seems like I am the only one, who went with the Radeon 450 with (only) 2GB VRAM.
Why is that? Can some of you explain their choice. Is there anything wrong with the 450?
I currently use the Dell XPS 15 9530 with an Nvidia GPU (also 2GB VRAM) and i never felt, it was not enough.
So why is everyone ramping up for the top end GPU?

Thanks

Thin edge of the wedge effect, I first went for the base model then realised I wanted a bigger SSD, and going to the top model gives you that plus some other stuff for only marginally more than the larger SSD on the base model. At that point, the 460 is only a small amount more, like £90 IIRC, so screw it, the laptop costs like £3k now, might as well.

That's how I went from 450->460 I just wanted a 1TB SSD, and of all the configs that had that, it was such a maginal increased cost to get the faster cpu and gpu I just went for it.

Got 450 with 256GB. You have to consider that this forum does not represent everyone but a specific demographic. You got a lot of people who are willing to pay for it because they need it, or... they just want it for reasons like "future proofing" which is not my cup of tea.

Edit: I know what I need in the foreseeable future, so while comparing to the base price it is a small fraction, I'd rather save it and spend it somewhere else.

So it's personal preference how much you wanna up for some more power, right?
At first I thought there was something wrong with the Radeon 450 that I missed.

Not at all, I'm probably going to play Civ IV on it, if I didn't need a big SSD I'd probably have gone for the base model.

Never bought a Mac before. :) I'm switching systems for the first time. So excited about MacOS. I wanna feel the build quality and play around with some features. :p

macOS is such a refreshing move. In my opinion, Windows is better than it ever has been. Windows 10 is great! But macOS is still so much better. I started with macOS 8 many years ago and it's almost always been incredible.

Macrumors reported that IBM moved to macOS and found that their employees needed a lot less tech support. Not just because nothing broke; but because macOS does such a great job of thinking through EVERYTHING. Everything just works the way you expect it to. You won't be spending much time in a web browser googling how to perform some task. I've also been using Windows since version 3 and DOS before that; and I still find myself "googling" how to do various things that I don't do often and can't quite remember just the right order of menus, commands, and settings to get it to work. Stuff like remembering how to change some setting. Windows no longer has a unified control panel of any sort; there's actually a lot of different places to change settings and they don't all have the same options. With my Macs, they just work. Everything is where I'd expect it to be; so I don't have to "remember" where it was.

Hi All, Yesterday my order started doing the same kinds of things.. (unavailable and etc.) and then it was MYSTERIOUSLY cancelled last night. I was on the phone with Apple trying to get it figured out and they have no idea why it was cancelled, and they said that they are having issues with their internal systems... So I had to reorder last night; apple offered me a USB C to USB adapter for my trouble since my date slipped to 5 weeks from Nov 1.. I initially ordered on the afternoon of the announcement with a 2-3 week shipping date....

Im beyond pissed, so watch your order if it is doing something weird!

Hello again. After getting an iPhone 7 it is time to get a new macbook!
Several questions for you guys.
1. Have they started shipping already?
2. Have your cards been charged?
3. What model did you buy? :)

That's outrageous. And the free adapter is just an insult. Escalate, escalate, escalate until you reach someone with actual authority. If they say no-one is available, say you'll wait on hold, even if it's for hours.

Yikes. Phil Schiller said that this was the highest demand pre-order ever, surely it's only a fraction of iPhone pre-orders though, so I can't imagine why it would screw up.

1. The base model 13" is shipped and available in some stores. However, the 15" models have yet to ship. The first to hit the road will be in the coming days.

2. Your card will not be charged until the product ships; so the answer to 1 and 2 will always be the same.

3. Check out the spreadsheet! You'll find me and my 15", 2.9GHz, 460 Pro in there.

You should have pushed for apple. Apple is pretty generous with gifts when they screw up :p

Hi All,

From experience. If an item is going to ship before the estimated shipping date (4-5 weeks for me, from two days ago), will the order page update at any point, or will it just suddenly notify me that it's shipped?
