I also went with the 450 since I don't need a bigger ssd. It will do most of the things I need at school and don't game. And use cloud for storage. If you did need somethinteresting super GPU intensive like rendering (me) I don't think the 460 will be fast enough nor is the 16gb ram. So I decided to save that money and build a hackintosh for more intensive things. Why have something in the middle when you can have something on the go and something much faster.

I did that when I had an Air. Light and portable on the go, and powerful hackintosh at home. Eventually I hated the lack of power on the go, and I hated how updates would sometimes mess up the hackintosh. YMMV.

There is no excuse for not stating, clearly, at the start of the video something along the lines of "This is the $1499 model of the new MacBook Pro. Later this month Apple is shipping a more expensive version with the new Touch Bar and we'll have a separate review of this once we have our hands on it."

Instead, there was a tiny mention of the Touch Bar model about two-thirds of the way through.

Same goes for the written review.

Chasing clicks, I assume.
Well, I must respectfully disagree I guess. Firstly, it's not their job to describe that better things are coming. They are reviewing a product, and that product must stand on its own with respect to the competition - the product is overpriced and has difficulty connecting to things.

Secondly, they mention the Touch Bar version in the first paragraph before the heading paragraph, so I'm not quite sure what you mean.

My estimate is "Delivers 17 Nov, 2016 - 25 Nov, 2016 by Standard Shipping" does anyone have an earlier ship date with a Touch Bar model?

That's what mine says. I placed an order the first second I could, canceled it about 2 hours later when I realized I had forgotten the education discount (my fiancee is a teacher, I think that might fly with them), and ordered the same 13 inch again ( I sort of wish I had upgraded to the 512 GB, but oh well)

Did you ship date remain the same with the second order? I ask because I did see it slip pretty quickly.

Any details around what you're seeing and where? I see nothing different through the store. Hard to believe, Apple would adjust any pricing.

I ordered a maxed out 13" MBP w/ TouchBar last week and the total before taxes was $2,899.00. Now when I go to the Apple website and order the same laptop the total comes to $2,709.00. $190 less! I can't tell if the reduction is from the base price or the upgrades...or maybe I'm just way off here and not noticing something else for the difference in price?

Mine went down as well, not as drastically as yours. But the only thing I could attribute it to was the "Estimated Tax" changing.

Hahaha which is why I went with the base 15. Most of my work on the go is CPU intensive, which the quad core i7 can handle. I know it's not light like the 13. But couldn't justify the extra 500-600 for a bigger ssd and faster GPU if I'm going to build a hackintosh anyways.
Yea I'm worried about updates too but figured I'll let everyone else update first and see what happens. Basically get it running and update infrequently.

I did the same thing. U didn't need to cancel. I called them on the phone and told them I forgot my student discount and she just changed it for me right on the phone. It was instant and I didn't lose my early shipping time frame

It's funny that it hurts to see Apple charge me $3,700 on my account, but I wanna see the charge get posted on my account ASAP because that means my MBP is ready to ship!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's still 2,899 on the Apple Store app. I'm guessing you checked on the education store to get that lower price.

Good luck with the hackintosh. It was fun for five years but ended up to be too much of a pain for me.

TB3 is going to allow me to consolidate down to one Mac that I can easily dock (one cable, huzzah) to a dual monitor setup. And then with a quick button press (no rebooting) I can switch to my ex-hackintosh for gaming. IDK, unless you really need GPU performance in OS X for some reason, I don't really see the appeal of a hackintosh anymore. And it frees you up considerably for parts--i.e no more waiting for GTX 1070 drivers.

I added my name twice to the list because I ordered one and my boyfriend too. We'll both get the stock 13" Touch Bar model sent to Germany but I'll get it with the German keyboard and he with the Spanish one. So it might be interesting to see if that'll make a difference
