Upgrading from mid-2011 17" base model.

Now I have to find a USB hub...

odd apple won't let me cancel the order; i am guessing its just the backlog of processing?

13-inch MacBook Pro - Space Gray with Touchbar $2,349.00

• 3.3GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor
• 16GB 2133MHz memory
• 512GB SSD

Upgrading from 12 inch 2015 MacBook which goes to a business partner.

Hope is ships on Nov 17th.

Could you tell me why you didn't upgrade the processor? I'm curious because I can't make up my mind.

Yea i cant decide either. Is .2GHZ really worth it? How would it benefit us?
Is it better for games or intense photoshop work?

It's not worth the money unless you're constantly doing CPU intensive tasks. Games do benefit from a better GPU and increased memory though.

Love the display picture. :)

Ordered a MBP 13" SG 512gb.. got a 24-1st December minutes after the store went live..

Found a loophole... select your keyboard as UK British, and the user guide as French... you lose a week ;)

Ordered 10 mins ago (realise the screenshots don't match specs up (256 vs 512) I ordered both configs)

Proof on my screenshot:

Guys, how come my in-store pickup option is not available? It only has a shipping option. I can't even select ship to store to in-store pickup. In-store pickup says : "In store pickup is currently unavailable"

That's what I am getting. It looks like people in UK are able to choose that option.

I'm in the States.

I was able to choose the pickup option but went for shipping because my pick-up date would of been Nov. 25th and delivery date is the 17th-25th, so i'm hoping i get it on the 17th or earlier. I'm in Houston BTW.

Well, against my better judgement I have ordered one ('just' a base 13" version)

I've been waiting ages for this release to replace an inherited 2008 Macbook which can be slow and with a knackered keyboard after I tipped a glass of diet coke over a couple of months ago. It's my daily 'browse, watch stuff, write' computer. I also have a 2011 iMac which is hooked up to various music gear upstairs, an iPhone and an iPad Pro so I am firmly embedded in the Apple eco-system whether I like it or not.

Watched the keynote and thought the new touch bar was more impressive than I had visualised it being. Also love the bigger trackpad, force touch, fingerprint sensor and - compared to my 2008 model - blistering speed.

Was disappointed they didn't announce any way of integrating it with the Apple Pencil (which I have for the iPad)...when I saw the bigger trackpad I was convinced that would be coming.

But when I saw the prices... Eeeeek. I had only budgeted £1,200. Seeing the ramp-up on prices with the Macbook and old MBP as well made it all feel very cynical and gave me pause for thought. As the price of the non-touch-bar version is at about that level, that meant the fancy screen thingy was costing approx £500 which seems steep in anyones language.

Ended up rationalising that I NEED a new Macbook, and getting the latest version will futureproof me for a few years at least. And whist the touch-bar is not critical....I think I would feel I had missed out without it. Anyway, applying a company scheme discount brought it down a heady £100, so decided to suck up the extra £400-odd for the cool stuff and threw in a lightening cable and USB adaptor.

Gave me options to collect, but at various local newsagents and suchlike. Decided not to spoil my buying experience by doing this, so just have to make sure I'm home on the day it arrives :)

It's not rational, it may not even be sane...but hey ho. It's gruel for me until xmas....

Edit : Oh, and decided not to get Apple Care YET. Will do though. And I notice a lot of people creaming themselves over Dell laptops in other threads. They may be good, but I use a fairly decent spec (similar to the MBP actually) Dell for work, and it's broken twice in the first six months of usage so I'm no fan...

space gray 13" macbook
16GB Ram
256GB disk
I7 - 2.9Ghz ?

Can't wait!... well i guess we have to wait.

Must admit I'd been looking forward to today, but just cannot stomach the thought of paying that kind of money for a new laptop (my wife just bought a high spec HP Envy for £670, and ok, it's not as nice, but still). Anyway, I think I'm going to opt for a used 2014-2015 rMBP instead and save myself £1000-£1500 in the process.

Definitely shocked by the price, but at least my company gets a teeny tiny discount to make it a little more bearable. Finally upgrading from my early 2011 15" MBP. Very happy with how well my current machine has held up with just minor upgrades (RAM and HD).

15" Space Gray MBP
  • 2.7GHz quad-core Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz
  • 16GB 2133MHz memory
  • 1TB PCIe-based SSD
  • Radeon Pro 455 with 2GB memory
  • $3,297 after tax - OUCH!
Nowadays I mainly use my MBP to edit photos so I didn't think it was necessary to upgrade to the Radeon 460. I am disappointed by the lack of SD card slot. Purchased two accessories on Amazon that should make managing photos and external drives a little easier.

Anyone have any experience with either of these?

Quite surprised with the number of people who are buying the 15" over the 13"

Nothing wrong with it of course, aside from price. Just thought it would be the other way around.

I guess it depends what you're used to. My 2011 15" MacBook Pro died last month and it had the high res screen, so I've been using my wifes old 2011 15" MacBook Pro which has the standard 1440x900 screen, and have really struggled with it.

Ok, I bought it. The price is not expected, but I do need this for my programming and I don't want to use an out-date device.

Here is it:
2.9+512GB+16GB, 13" with touch bar

I hope I can really make something on this one

I fantasized about the return of a 17" MBP even though I knew it wouldn't happen. After seeing the UK price of the 15" the fantasy became purely academic. It makes my late 2015 "nearly" maxed out 27" RiMac look like great value - which I bought with my heart rather than my head - still love it though, but would think again before splashing out like that. This is no criticism of anyone who has ordered today - if you want it and can afford it then good luck to you and I genuinely hope you enjoy your new MBPs - Apple are not perfect, but they do have the "big data" and can predict what they do and the financial consequences, but I have the complete, albeit gut, instinct that lots of folk will hang on to their perfectly useable "old" Macbook kit. We're all different though - let's see what the future brings.

Upgrading from my original rMBP from 2012. Paying about $800CDN more than I payed for that one back in 2012. But considering the fall in the CDN$ since 2012 that isn't all that bad. Though it is damned expensive and the price above is with education pricing!! Maxed out everything except for the 2TB SSD which is just a bit too much to swallow and storage I don't really need.

Who knows, I might wake up and cancel this order tomorrow.
