I cancelled my original 13" order - placed just 2 minutes after the end of the event - for the dumbest reason... to upgrade from the 2.9 GHz i5 to the 3.3GHz i7. Delayed my shipment from 2-3 weeks to 4-5 weeks.

I know it will literally make NO difference in my day to day tasks but I've been waiting to buy a new computer for ages and was always used to maxing out the processor, and found myself bothered by not upgrading it in the initial order. Plus I use my MacBook to run my business and can write it off as a business expense.

I guess now I have the configuration I will be happiest with, but I spent more money than necessary for something I'm not likely going to make much use of. So I feel like a sucker, but still super excited for the MacBook to ship since this will be my first computer with a retina screen.

Get what you want, even if you have to wait. It will bug you more to not get what you want than it will be to wait a few extra weeks.

Well I placed my order only hours after the event and quickly realized I wanted the 460 dgpu. I went to cancel it 20 minutes after it was made and It wouldn't allow it. For day now I've been trying and now that I had apple on the phone they are telling me they can't cancel it even though it won't ship for 3-4 weeks. What an absolute joke. Their recommendation was for me to order another one and have both on my card and just return the first. On top of that I would have to wait the 2 weeks for the second one to arrive since the shipping has slipped even further.
Haha Same with me but I called the corporate office as I had the chat with the CS representative that told me the change will be made inside 24 hours but nothing happened, I told them I have proof I will take legal action against them. Now they changed it and I can see my order with same date on Apple.com :) so you can also try this

this is pathetic

Haha I know but this is the thing the lower staff like CS reps don't do anything, they are getting the money and they know we will not cancel our orders or not buy apple products even if they provide bad CS services and the corporate staff don't even know about this if you call them they always help not only in my case, even my friends do this all the time :) so no shame in calling them, Call and get your things done

I'm hearing from a lot of people that their shipment has changed from 3-4 weeks to 4-5 weeks.

This is making me slightly nervous since mine is still on 2 - 3 weeks (17 Nov - 24 Nov). Any chance mine will change as well?

I went for the 3.1 i5, not even really sure why. It seems like the processors are identical outside of an increase in frequency, including jumping from the i5 to the i7.

Ya... that's the thing. I knew this already and still upgraded my processor even though the performance gain will be minimal. I think it's just because this is the first time I've been able to afford a maxed out machine and wanted to please my inner-nerd who loves specs and benchmarks haha. I can tell I'm in good company here, though, with many others who have ordered the maxed out CPU option.

Yea I dig it

Anyone from the UK bought the new Macbook Pro on finance?

I didn't due to the interest rate. Instead I took a risk and took out another credit card with 0% finance on purchases for two years. I'll pay it off as if I bought on finance, but without the could of hundred pounds in interest. Not sure if I'll end up regretting this though...

Mine has gone from 2-3 weeks, to 6-8 weeks (12/19 - 01/03). Just spoke with Apple again, and they are saying as orders make there way through the system most are being changed to a later date if they are BTO.

The person I spoke with said even their standard spec had slipped to early December.

I just hope I get it before Christmas. Not happy...

My BTO model (ordered about 20 minutes after the keynote ended) is still showing 2-3 weeks. I sure hope it's true...

Just upgraded my shipping method to 2-3 days via chat, so I got everyone beat on my new delivery estimate:

Nov 15 - Nov 22

:p

Scaring me even more now as mine was same spec as you except for the US/International Keyboard.

Still showing 2-3 weeks and 14th-21st November though.

Edit: Shame they moved my date up on the other item in the order (USB C to USB A adapter).....shame they changed it from 3rd Nov to 2nd Nov.....its 3rd Nov here now and it didn't turn up yesterday, so guessing it will turn up today.

Ouch... mine is BTO too.

Guess I'll just wait and see.

Did you need to pay for this?

Wait... details? Did you pay? How did that interaction go?

Very positive, the rep was more than happy to upgrade my shipping. I asked directly to upgrade it. She told me I would be charged though. Don't know by how much though because she didn't tell me, I forgot to ask, and no where in the order status page or new email I received confirmed how much. Assuming it will be somewhere around $15, which I'm more than happy to pay, but I might talk to someone again and see if I can confirm if it was free.

Silver 13'' 2.9Ghz - 512gb - 16gb in the UK through unidays = £1916 :(

Delivery not until 8th December - 14th :(

Crazy price increase, but excited all the same

Troll, troll, troll. You only joined yesterday. Claimed a delay. Posted a fake screenshot this morning. And now this.

Don't feed the troll peeps. Apple always meets their pre-order estimates.

Update: Just noticed a $14 charge on my card for the upgraded shipping fee. Totally fine with that.

I'm not sure, we seem to be in a new age of Apple now..

(referencing the Airpods)

Yeah but the Airpods were never available for preorder. Items that customers can actually order/preorder have always had conservative ship dates and often ship a week or two before.

I just chatted with a CS Rep from Apple about upgrading my shipping and he said they are all being shipped the fastest method possible (2-3 day air from the factory). He said it will show Ground on the Online Order Status portal but when it actually ships it will be 2-3 day air.

He gave no indication that the ship date would slip backwards as a matter of fact he made it sound like it should ship earlier.

Re shipping...

If the expedited shipping option is not available at the time of ordering, having it manually added by a CS rep is highly unlikely to result in earlier arrival.

People do this with iPhones every year and never get them earlier.
