For you guys buying the stock models or the upgraded SSD models, you might have better luck strolling into your local Apple or Best Buy store and getting one. They seem to always have the 256/512/1TB in stock of both models in both colors here locally. I ended up canceling my Apple order after it sat "In Processing" for a week then walked into Best Buy and walked out with one. I gotta say I was pretty upset that Apple doesn't have them ready to ship but Best Buy does.
Do they also have the base cpu 2.6ghz? The apple stores only have the 2.9 ghz

Well just opened mine and started looking for scratches and imperfections... fortunate to report machine looks beautiful and scratch free! Working on getting stuff transferred to new machine. Here's to hoping everyone gets their respective machines in a more timely manner.

Just talked to an Apple Customer Service person. (She was quite rude, as I talked to her.) She acknowledged that it had been four weeks, but Apple has another week she said in which to ship it. When I asked why the window on the site now shows 2-3 weeks, she said it was because they have more stock now to fill orders. When I asked why there were still early orders still processing, she said I could cancel if it really bothered me. How disappointing that Apple no longer cares about their customers and employees are so rude. My window is December 15-21. I had hoped for the 15th, but after talking to her, not so sure. They have charged my credit card, but I guess that doesn't mean anything.

Same model, 15" 2.6GHz/512GB/460/SG CTO, but ordered on December 1st. Estimated delivery date is 12/28, stuck at processing, but got my card charged just a couple hours ago. Crossing my fingers for an earlier delivery.

Ordered through EPP online store if that makes any difference. Not sure if Apple expedites employee purchases. Doesn't look like it though.

I also ordered through EPP, and have the same delivery date as you (12/28). I ordered mine on 11/15, though... 6 weeks from order to delivery is insane.

This fall has been frustrating... I had to wait 5 weeks for a Jet Black 7+ and it will have been 6 weeks by the time I get my mbp on Friday.

I thought Tim Cook's expertise was supply chain management?

Remember the good ol' days at the end of a keynote, after the 'one more thing', we were told whatever apple goodness was revealed 'would be available Friday' and IT WAS?

And if it was later, they did everything they could to make it right and to make you a happy Apple customer. Those days are gone. You are supposed to be happy waiting for them to finally send out your order when it suits them and if you ask questions, they are more than happy to suggest you could cancel. Oh brother! Just send people their orders.

If you order today, you will have a shorter wait either because fewer people have ordered in the last four weeks or because manufacturing yields are up. Either way it is 6-7 weeks since your original order. They aren't cutting in line.

What I don't get is that with all the shipments that have arrived over the last few weeks, they still haven't figured out WHERE the scratch happens ? They aren't dumb, they see the amount of laptops return and the reason why. It is ridiculous to allow a product to go out the factory and to the customer with such an aesthetic defect...
It is rather strange and irritating. There is at least one faulty machine out there which is costing Apple a lot of money. With all the fancy technology they developed to polish the iphone Jet Black, they could have invested in some sort of tech to test for scratches, dents etc. post-production. If they do have such a process, clearly it is not good enough.

Yep, swapped my 13" for the base 2.6 yesterday at my local Best Buy. You can check their website for the colors and they will tell you if your local stores have them in stock. Like I said, I have had 0 issues finding them over the last few weeks.

My guess is that at this point yield is more important than quality control. They'd rather risk putting out a few units with defects and deal with return/replacement later than manage a higher standard quality control but limit the yield.

Never said they were cutting in line

Finally some movement on my 15" 2.9GHz/1TB/460/SG ordered on November 17th...

Today my credit card shows a temporary authorization for the full amount

:D

AND MY LAPTOP HAS BEEN MOVED BACK A WEEK. SERIOUSLY APPLE. 5 weeks wasn't enough to make a laptop? That's BS. Now apparently it's likely to dispatch on the 15th, with the website saying it will arrive around the 20th. Well, there goes the likelihood of actually using the thing for my work this semester. Just plain outrageous

Same here. I'm going on web chat this morning to vent. Hopefully I can get bumped up to expedited shipping or get a freebie case. If they were up front with the issue I'd be ok. Instead they wait as long as possible to inform us of delays. Very unhappy.
