What is the earliest ship date people on this board have seen? I have nov 17 to 25th. Anything earlier than that?

I ordered the 15 inch with upgraded ram, CPU and 2 TB ssd

According to that guy, since he talks about pre-order and normal order systems, my prediction is that if you do some operation on your shipping, you will get it exactly on the date it suggests. If you don't do operation on it, you probably can get it earlier than the date it suggests.

The way its worked for other products recently, including the Jet Black 7+, while the dates you get move up with expedited shipping, it didn't end up mattering and all orders were shipped even before those dates at the same shipping speed.

Remember that the delivery dates are highly subjective - impacted by regional variations and manipulations of people calling up and asking for 'faster shipping'.

The only thing that matters are the despatch times, e.g. 2-3 weeks, 3-4 weeks, and so on. That's the best indication of where you are in the queue and when your MacBook will arrive.

Ok so I have one ordered through the educational store. 13" 512gb, 16GB RAM

My order says: Ships: On Allocation

What the hell does that mean LOL :)

Thank you

I work with and have worked with intensive programs before, I have and have built gaming PCs and high performance PCs in the past.. I get it. Some people need the boost.

The thing is it's annoying when people who need that boost in performance use that to try to make everyone think they need it as well. Like 99% of the reasons people are saying to get 16GB of RAM are misinformation. I just hate seeing people think they have to drop a few more hundred dollars to "futureproof" their machine or "make it run faster".. people have no idea what they're saying. Just because you need to run a bunch of VMs or do heavy rendering on a MacBook doesn't mean other users have to too.

You're right. But shouldn't there be the OPTION to get 32 GB of Ram in a Pro machine? No one forces anyone to get the full load right?

Got an important tip for some probably...

I think most of you have thought about this already, but I only thought of it today: You have to make sure your credit card will accept such a big payment. Mine was set with a max of 1500 for safety reasons. Would be a shame if the order bounced because of something silly like that.

Cheers

If my memory is correct on past new releases all the people who upgraded there shipping (myself included) had no different results in the end. These things ship from China and then distribute through the US and onto Canada for people like me. It never goes any faster and that is probably why Apple doesn't give you that option on checkout.

I'd like to add that Apple will notify you if your credit card is denied. They will also allow you 24hrs to rectify the issue without losing your original delivery dates.

So I edited my order over apple chat to make an upgrade (2.7 to 2.9 GHz).

What are the chances this won't affect my shipping date?

Originally 15" 2.7GHz/16/512/460 4Gb, ordered Oct 28th with Nov 28- Dec 2nd shipping.

Changed to the 2.9GHz and added student discount one day later, took Apple four days to process change, now shipping has slipped to Dec 9-15. I'm really pissed about Apple not holding my place in line for the same P.O. and custom-build time.

$3,080 after tax and student discount.
I can get a discount through work but i don't want to change my ship date AHH decisions

I'll share my experience with applying a discount after placing an order. I phoned Apple and explained that I had forgotten to use my student discount. The last informed me that she would have to send a request over to the online Order department and that I should see the discount applied withing 24-48 hours. Next morning the price was adjusted and I did not lose my spot. Although my experience worked out, your mileage may vary.

Something about these threads hype me up and make me wish Apple constantly had something coming out, it reminds me every so often how much I love the Apple community just because even though we can be snarky at times at the end of the day we all just want to see their products come out looking dope.

Kind of random but I can't wait for everyone in the thread to get their machines, myself included. Only reason I'm not slightly more antsy for it to come is because I still have my gaming desktop.. but I'm trying to sell it at the moment so once that's gone I'll be night and day checking my order status.

I'm just waiting for the first person to report their Touch Bar model out for delivery so all of us can wild out.

She couldn't say 100% if it would or wouldn't since the request takes 24 hours.

But I'm hopeful because these machines haven't been made yet or anything. Hopefully it's an easy switch for them. But if it goes from 3-4 weeks to 4-5 I guess it wouldn't be the end of the world
