Hey guys. So this week is quickly coming to an end. If there's no progress tomorrow do we still have a shot at our orders moving this weekend? Or do we have to wait until Monday since they don't update on Weekends?

Just cancelled my order of 28 Oct as delivery was going to 6-8 weeks. And reordered with increase in spec to 3.1GHz with an improved delivery of 4-5 weeks. Happy now, though original 2-3 delivery would have been awesome if it didn't slip.

Got an important tip for some probably...

I think most of you have thought about this already, but I only thought of it today: You have to make sure your credit card will accept such a big payment. Mine was set with a max of 1500 for safety reasons. Would be a shame if the order bounced because of something silly like that.

Cheers

Thank you for that! I just checked my card and I also had a max payment of 1500 per transaction (with a daily limit of 2500) which meant my order would have bounced. Any idea if it's possible to alter the payment details by getting in contact with Apple Online support, or to partially pay for the product using Apple Gift cards and the remainder using the debit card?

Everything you mentioned is possible. Give Apple a call.

It's been my general observation that as GPU, RAM and Storage become available, developers will up the amount used, and that's speaking as a software engineer. Consider the iPhone software, originally most were about 10-15 MB, now you have Twitter and FB, and they're like 90-150MB.

The same is true for work computers. Consider for example basic Java VM that a lot of my work software run on still get set at 512MB RAM and I have to manually up that limit. That's because the average computer don't have the RAM for higher defaults. There's also other functions that software can use like various caching mechanism that's best kept for when significant amount of RAM is available.

I've also seen a phenomenon where my co-workers have 3 browsers opened, each with like 15-25 tabs. That take very minimal CPU power, but a ton of RAM to keep all of that going.
I have 8gb in a 2009 MBP i use 90% just running this page with iTunes in the background.

I think I'm done bothering Apple with all the expedited shipping stuff. I talked to three different Apple reps and they gave me three different answers. The most confident rep said that my place in line will not change just because I had my order expedited. It will not arrive sooner and it will not arrive later than my estimated delivery date just because the shipping method was changed. Any expedited shipping charge will be refunded in 5-8 business days. I'm going back to just waiting.

I'm legitimately not. I realize how it sounds and I can't help that. That's just what she told me. But everyone is being told something different, so I'm not sure what to believe.
She probably was tired of people asking to have them moved up. :)

Do these come via FedEx or UPS you think? Coming to Massachusetts, USA here.
My Mid 2014 MBP BTO came via UPS to Detroit

Took advantage of amazon price error and got the 15inch 512gb version for 1999. Anyone knows how fast amazon gets new laptop from apple?

I paid $765 of my MacBook Pro with Apple Store Gift Cards so I know that works fine.

Waaaait a minute there cowboy. You are telling us you got it for $800 off?

You think Amazon is Santa Claus? Why TF would they honor that? Because the are 'honorable'?
Maybe their reputation is a stake? :D Or, maybe....somebody will let it slide so it won't draw attention to their error? orrrr, they will let it slide cuz they hate their job? Or Bezos is so rich he can send people to Mars and give away stuff?. I'm not saying you won't get it. I'm just like REALY envious. There is doubt here ya know. I'm a Prime Member, and I'll bet you aren't, if you chose 1 day shipping. :D

Ya only a very few people were lucky enough to get in on that price mistake. I didn't get lucky. I just spent an inordinate amount of time on this forum, so I bought it cuz I was on this forum all day during release lol.

Not sure if this was mentioned before but I was just on the Apple Store app. If you don't configure a 13" or 15" there is no store pickup available. Once you upgrade the processor or anything else it changes to available for pickup on December 16. Probably a glitch but maybe that's when apple is expecting to have in store stock available.

I ordered a BTO 15" on the 27th pretty soon after the store went up, chose store pickup instead of shipping and my est. pickup date is Nov 25th. I don't think Apple will go 1.5 months after unveiling them before having them in store..

I'd be curious to see what you really get charged when it ships. Unless the product has already shipped they can still change the price or send notification right before it ships of the price change.

It would be interesting to see what happens.

They certainly cannot.
