Just a follow up on a previous sub-thread within this thread . . .
Apple chat rep just told me that the MBP with touch bar won't be in my local Apple store (eastern U.S.) until December 20.
By any chance, NY area?

Thanks. Just might be. Then again, we've been there before, no?

Not in NY, but close enough. I'm not sure if the stores in bigger cities will get theirs sooner.
I've been advised the new x360 Spectre is going to not be coming to UK till new year...
So I'm decided on a rMBP 13"
Now I can't decide between the following
Base non-touch (£1300)
Non-touch with 16gb/512gb (£1628)
13" touchbar with 16gb/512gb (£1916)
My main concerns of the touch bar version is
a) it had 49kwh battery, non touch has 56kwh (and old model had 75khw). I know Apple says 10 hour life, but will it with a more powerful CPU, faster RAM and a touch bar on top with a smaller battery
b) The fact that two of the ports are underpowered
c) Might not need the touch bar
So I could go base non-touch model as a result, but then I worry if 8gb/256gb will last a few years. It might do, it might not, can't predict future.
If I upgrade the non-touch to 16gb/512gb, the upgrade costs are quite high and then I'm not sure I'm getting value as, for just a bit more, I'd get the more powerful 28w CPU, better GPU and two additional ports.
Larger cities like NY will get more stock than a smaller one for sure. This is sometimes outpaced by larger quantities of demand. It was possible to buy an iPhone 7 Plus outside of Jet Black on day one if one knew the reservation trick. I'm pretty sure the new touch MBP's supply will be very constrained for the first few weeks though as evidenced by none being available to try at any store and very few even having one. This week will be a good data point I believe. If all the first wave of preorders start shipping for touch models this week, then by early to mid December supply should start loosening up. It's all conjecture at this point though...Not in NY, but close enough. I'm not sure if the stores in bigger cities will get theirs sooner.
I wonder how one tries out AirPods. Do they have special earbuds?Larger cities like NY will get more stock than a smaller one for sure. This is sometimes outpaced by larger quantities of demand. I really wanted to try the new AirPods too and think they will start selling them by Thanksgiving. Those are gonna be pretty hot holiday gifts probably.
By try I meant buy, try, and keep. Or buy, try, and return.I wonder how one tries out AurPods. Do they have special earbuds?
this is legit

Is that a question or statement? Because all signs point to no

It is funny, all of the ones with P2S have signed up the day of their post. I will believe the new MBP's are moving when some that have been on the site for a few years, post our updated statuses. He signed up today. Which means there's no reason to believe this.
There. Except maybe you want to believe, like Mulder maybe, which is about as likely, btw.
He registered the same day as this post, and the image can be easily faked.

Eh neither of those really mean anything. Couldn't care less but those are irrelevant points. A lot of new people sign up after buying their new product, I did that oh so many years ago and jumped right into the shipping thread. And the iPhone post looks identical down to the spacing between words so whatever.
Idc but it's possible considering he's from Macau which is right next to the factory.
Good work!View attachment 670703 File was manipulated in Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 (Windows), according to EXIF Viewer. If this were a legitimate, unedited screenshot, the EXIF data would show that it originated from an iPhone.
