That's gotta be an expensive tag.
$24 million
I'd do the same thing. Washington needs that guy and it gives them time to work out a contract.

It's an (expensive) one year audition for Cousins, who has been wildly inconsistent.Agreed, it was a smart move by the Redskins.

I don't buy it. Give me one more year like last year.He had 4,900 yards; 25 TDs; 12 INTs last season. If Washington didn't do this, I pretty much guarantee you that some other team would have paid his price. Who would the Redskins turn to after that?

Except that is exactly what the Redskins did. They're not ready to dump franchise changing money on him. That my friend is why you aren't a head coach or GM. [/sarcasm]
I don't think he deserves big money either, lets see what happens this year.Except that is exactly what the Redskins did. They're not ready to dump franchise changing money on him.
That franchise tag for Jimmy G will be massive.Patriots supposedly don't want to trade Jimmy G., Bill is really grooming him to take over after Brady then
I don't know, I' not sold on Cousins. He's the best they can get in all likelihood but I don't think he's a franchise QB that will lift the team to the next level.I think Cousins is worth the money

He can be very shaky at times, and at one point in the beginning of the last year it almost looked like he was losing the locker room. That seems to be a trend with himI think he can do it.

Yeah, I'll give you that but some of this onus is on Cousins.True, but some of that I blame on the Redskins organization. It seems to rather dysfunctional at times.
He's a tough one for me. Honestly I wish we could keep him, but considering Brady's health and productivity, it seems trading him makes sense for all parties. He's smart and accurate, he's my favorite of all Brady's backups the last decade. I think he'll be a good starter somewhere.
This is a dumb argument. Marino is not a world champion and will never be. Ever. So what?
The HOF is about stats and stats alone. TO should have been a first ballot HOFer but because the voters are sensitive and TO has largely been a douche, he wasn't put in. When character and likability becomes a requirement for enshrinement, fine, but it's not and his omission is pretty embarrassing for all involved. TO will be remembered as long as football is discussed because he was an elite receiver and will eventually be in the Hall of Fame with the Canton bust to go along with it.
His attitude and relationship with the media literally have nothing to do with his worthiness for Hall of Fame. Or do I need to mention all the bastards and jerks who currently have busts there?

I think he wants to be with a team that will be a better fit, i.e., he wants to play more.Chris Long doesn't want to re-sign with the Pats, i wonder where he will end up
Yep, he played only on certain downs for the Pats, he won his ring now its time to pursue a more fulfilling role with another organization.I think he wants to be with a team that will be a better fit, i.e., he wants to play more.

With someone who will pay more for him than the Patriots did.Chris Long doesn't want to re-sign with the Pats, i wonder where he will end up
And that's why he signed for the Pats in the first place, I recall seeing some articles that his dad Howie, was against him joining the Patriots, saying it was a mistake. I think it was good move on his part. I have no problem seeing a player looking to cash in and increase his salary or increase his playing time and I think for Long both can happen. My guess is that there are a half dozen NFL teams that are willing to pay him more than the $2 million he made with the Patriots in the 2016-2017 season who have a legitimate chance of playing in the Super Bowl.
