This seems plausible given all the patents along this line. But I still think Apple will go with micro LCD over LED. I understand that the technology is better and should be in-line price wise by next year.
Cuban, what's this micro LCD you speak of? o_O I know about micro LED, but I am a little in the dark about micro LCD. Mayhaps you meant to compare micro LED and OLED.:)
Can't I enjoy my iPhone 7 for 10 minutes before I read stories like these?
Sure you can. All you have to do is... not read articles like these.:D

Sorry I must have missed this in Apple's keynote. Regardless, if it doesn't come with a 4 inch display option, my SE Will be just fine, thank you.

The speaker could go on the top of the phone. As for the front facing camera, your guess is as good as mine.

My prediction is Apple will leave a narrow top bezel and eliminate the bottom bezel completely.

Why even have speakers? Wireless headphones could be included, and phone calls only via those. The headphone case could have a larger speaker for music and loudspeaker calls.

This could also save a lot of space in the phone.

I was pretty content with my 6 but ordered the 7 bc of Verizon's deal. If they dont give me the credit bc my scuffs put it beyond "good condition" then I'll gladly return the 7 and wait for the next model.....then I'll probably regret it and go pay full retail lol

So you have to be wearing headphones every time you make or receive a phone call. That's a sure fire way to kill the iPhone.

It takes an enormous amount of planning even at this early stage, so I imagine there are over 100 people inside Apple who have know about the design. Starting down from Ive and the design engineers, to the mechanical engineers working on the body, to the electrical engineers working on the screen and embedded buttons, to the software engineers working on the OLED display controller and iOS changes, to the business and logistics employees working on the deals to secure the OLED and parts needed, to the marketing people already working on how to position the premium model, etc.. etc.. etc..
Yes I was rather exaggerating. My main point is that there doesn't appear to be anything to gain from leaking, when presumably you're in a tight knit role to even be familiar with the final design.

While I don't think the rumor is incorrect, most leaks come from the manufacturing side in China. So idk, just seems strange to have not 1, but 2, engineers be part of the leak.

I agree that employees are unlikely to risk their jobs over this leak, which leads me to believe the leak is intentional. I'm not sure what strategic reason they would have to do such a thing, esp with the 7/7+ just rolling out today.

If it a total top line refresh, I hope we see 3 phones in 2017 like this.  Phone,  Phone Plus  Phone Pro (covering the SE, standard and plus modelling we have now).

I'm totally money ready for the  Phone at an SE size. That's likely be 4.7" anyways right, if edge to edge? Anyone got a tape measure? ^_^

So if you like your jack, you better have bought the 6S because it is the last, best phone with it. And if you like your home button, you better buy the 7 because that will go away next year.

I wonder about using an edge-to-edge screen in a phone with a case? Will you be able to swipe all the way to the edge if the case has a lip on it to protect the screen? I used my iP6 without a case for a while, and there are (to use Apple's word) microabrasions around the edges of the screen, from where I set the phone on its face (on my desk at work or on my nightstand).

That said, the look is certainly impressive, the edge-to-edge display would be absolutely beautiful... temporarily. And I wonder about its practicality. But what of any of this stuff we obsess over is truly practical?

I'm betting ceramic as the main material and iPhone X as the name

^This.

As soon as I saw the ceramic watch I thought, "Well, there is next year's iPhone material". But maybe only as a Premium 10th Anniversary Edition (with a premium price to match).

Oops, you got me. Yes I meant micro LED. And the C and E are not close enough on the keyboard to claim fat finger.

I fixed the original post.

This is the iPhone I want! One more year! Can't wait to see the amoled screen on it...it's going to be a beautiful device.

The key here is watching for negative rumors. If Apple isn't helping downplay they hype with other planted rumors it means they are ready to bet big on what they have for next year.

Don't particularly like the possibility of a third tier of iPhone. Just how expensive are these things going to get? 128GB 7 Plus is already up in MacBook/MacBook Air territory. I dread to think what a 5.8" upper tier phone would cost

I thought the "S" updates were only internal. Shouldn't it be the iPhone 8 with the new design?

This is exactly why I opted to keep my 6s Plus and forgo the 7 Plus. I really hope Apple brings back the headphone jack, but I highly doubt they will. The lack of a headphone jack is a deal breaker for me.

Flexible OLED, no buttons, edge to edge screen that is brighter, thinner and better battery life. Sounds like the "Jesus Phone".

The hype could hurt this phone/Apple if it does not live up to all of the rumors. Good luck Apple.

Here we go, just like last year. The iPhone 7 isn't even shipping yet and we're already guessing about what next years iPhone 'x' is going to be!

In the midst of the publication of multiple iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus reviews, one tidbit within The New York Times' mostly positive review of the 2016 iPhone briefly looked forward to the much-anticipated "mega cycle," ten-year anniversary model of next year's iPhone. According to the publication, who spoke with two anonymous Apple employees, "next year's iPhone will have a full-screen face with the virtual button built directly into the screen."

While not new information, the comment does continue a rumor of a drastically redesigned iPhone in 2017 that will introduce an edge-to-edge OLED display and eliminate the top and bottom bezels, where the front-facing FaceTime camera and Touch ID Home Button are currently housed. The redesigned Home Button of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus (which isn't an actual button, but packs in Apple's Taptic Engine to mimic a button press) will be completely gone in 2017, and fused with the OLED display, along with Touch ID functionality.

With an all-glass, edge-to-edge display, Apple design chief Jony Ive's vision of an iPhone that looks like a single sheet of glass could finally come true in 2017. Regarding the display, it's said to be flexible OLED rather than an LCD, allowing Apple to introduce a thinner device that consumes less power and offers a better display with higher contrast ratio and more true to life colors.

It may also feature edges that are curved on both sides, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. That curved model could potentially be placed as a 5.8-inch premium addition to the line, with the other 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch, lower-priced iPhone 8 tiers including flat LCD displays.

Coming up sooner, the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be launching this Friday, September 16, to the first round of pre-order customers. While an iterative design, Apple has made a few notable changes to the iPhone line this year, including the removal of the 3.5mm headphone jack, a flush Home Button, improved water resistance, and major overhauls to the camera, especially with the dual-lens system on the iPhone 7 Plus.

(Thanks, Anthony!)

Wow that means no bezels at all. I doubt it a bit though because as much as I rail against bezels, we still need some minimal bezels at the top/bottom. Unless Apple has figured out a way to filter out unwanted touches. I'm also against curved sides. I have them on my Note 7 and feel like that is non functional wasted screen space. Please just do an edge to edge display, no bezel, but no curved edges.
