Just a wild thought... what if the Pats traded him to the Giants for Odell and the 2nd overall pick... with the second pick they can groom Bradys successor, still be in that "5 year window" that Brady wants to play and the contract will be team friendly

What? are you saying Gronk is worth more than Odell? why in the world would the Giants give up Odell and a #2 overall pick for a TE who can't play a full season, is beat up all over, and has one foot out the door.... For a young receiver who is probably the best talent in the league outside of Antonio Brown right now?

They are looking to get rid of Odell, and why not Gronk is the best TE when healthy, locked down onto a contract, while as OBJ wants 20 mill, I mean it won't happen now that Pats traded Cooks for the Rams 1st rounder and 6th

So Cooks is now a ram, and while they got a first round pick, I think they weakend the team. Amendola is gone, now Cooks. I guess on one hand, they're trying to move up to draft a QB, but that also means the 2018 team will definitely have less depth and talent at the WR position

I don't think that's ever really mattered to them. with the exception of Randy Moss in 2007 they've never really had a marquee WR. Just a bunch of guys that nobody had heard of before who learn the playbook, get in sync with Brady and execute the game plan well. As much as I dislike that whole franchise top to bottom... I have to admit they know what they're doing so I'm sure there's a plan. Some have floated around the idea that Belichick is destroying the team as an FU to Kraft for making him trade Jimmy G, but that would also be tarnishing his legacy so I highly doubt it....... On another note the Giants were asking for 2 first round picks for OBJ and guess who has 2 first round picks now

I'm not talking about a marquee player, but one that can catch, get open, etc. I think at this point, they're lacking competent WRs to the degree that the team is currently worse off. I realize the season hasn't started and who know what they'll do to fill in the holes.

I’m just going to skip this season and relive 2017-2018. If I don’t watch any games this year, the Eagles remain champions.... that’s how it works, right? I wonder if Bennett will still be on the roster come preseason...

And you’re right @maflynn the Rams adding Cooks is just adding on to their already productive offseason.

Edit: I just noticed you’re in Boston... have no fear, The Hoodie always finds a way.

Rams are the dream team 2.0 I'm sure you remember how well that worked out for the Eagles.

The Rams do seem to be the team that has made the best off season moves. Now, we all know what looks good on paper can play out very differently on the field. But man, they look really good from a roster standpoint.

I agree, but the other 31 teams know this as well, so it will be interesting to see if this is a true "dream team" or not. I'm voting it will be

The seahawks stacked up on free agents last year and were number one on some off season power rankings. Couple injuries later they didn't even make playoffs. All about injuries.

The problem is that dream teams usually don't work out in the NFL, you need a cohesive unit with good QB, good line play and great coaching. If you start adding a bunch of superstars with big ego's it doesn't go well unless the coaching staff does an amazing job.

Oh my head. Living in the Dallas area has been really hard this past week, because the Dez talk just won't go away. Seriously, enough already. I don't care what Dez thinks about being cut or who he thinks didn't support him. I don't even care if you think the Cowboys made a mistake by cutting him. The decision is made, can we please move on to other things now.

I follow, or I should say did follow, a few Cowboy Twitter accounts and good lord. The amount of tweets this has generated is out of control.

What I find most ironic is the fact that the local media keep accusing the Cowboys coaching staff of "enabling" Dez's bad behavior. Um, do you all not see how your continued coverage of this is a form of enabling as well? Stop giving him so much attention!

Ugh I can’t even go on an Apple message board without reading Dez cut talk man!

Just kidding lol :D:D

On a serious note though he has let it be known that he wants to go to the Giants

I did hear some revealing stats on the radio coming into work this morning. In 2016 when the Cowboys went 13-3 and led the NFC Cole Beasley was their most productive receiver having over 800 yards on the season. Dez came in second with Witten a close third. His production seriously dropped off over the past several seasons. If he is willing to refocus and improve his attitude then I believe he can be a productive receiver, but he's not a standout #1 worth big money like he used to be.

He's saying he wants to stay in the NFC east so he can "see the Cowboys twice a year", but that's just silly talk. He needs to seriously look at his options and go somewhere he can revitalize his career. I've actually heard places like New England, Green Bay, and Jacksonville mentioned as potential landing spots. Why would any receiver pass up the chance to play with Rodgers or Brady? It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.

For the first time in a long time I'm actually excited and intrigued about the draft. Being someone who doesn't really follow college much and doesn't know the players I haven't had a lot of interest in the past. but this year I'll be watching.... How do you guys see the top 5 picks going?

I'm not buying the whole Browns like Allen/Mayfield thing. I still think they go Darnold

My prediction:

Browns - Darnold
Giants - Barkley
Jets - Mayfield
Browns -Chubb
Broncos - Allen

Looks about right

I usally don't really care about anybody in the draft other than the players my team(seahawks) choose. They really dissapointed me last year though when they chose Malik Dowell instead of budda baker. Baker is now the starting safety on the Cardinals and Malik hasn't played a snap and most likely never will.

:D You’re excited?! We Browns fans are all on the edge of our seats in anticipation of finally using our picks as compensation for the embarrassment of the last two seasons.

We’re still facing one of the toughest schedules in the NFL...but at least we’ll be doing it with a significantly better team. One step at a time....

So the first round of the NFL draft is behind us - some surprises.

One surprise, a head scratcher really, is that the Patriots had traded to get another first round pick a few weeks ago - now they only selected a tackle. Brady is no spring chick and father time has him in his sights. Being the awesome armchair general manager that I am :), I think its absolutely foolish not to draft one of the available quarterbacks. Heck Lamar Jackson was available at that time. The ravens got Jackson to develop and grow behind 33 year old Flacco.

I think sometimes Belicheck is too smart for his own good, smh.

I know there's more draft rounds to occur, but I just don't get the move by the patriots

/rant

The real head scratcher for me was the 4th pick, the browns could have traded down twice and still probably picked up that CB. I understand that was their need, but when you have a once in a lifetime difference maker like Chubb sitting there you take it. I think Elway fell out of his seat and forgot about any QB plans he had when he saw that the Browns didn't take Chubb.

The Browns and will forever be a train wreck.
