Makes sense it would start at $699, given that's the price of the iPhone 8.

$200 is a pretty big gap though between the 6.1-inch and 5.8-inch iPhones. And for what? 3D Touch and an OLED screen, right? Is there more?

Better cameras, potentially Face ID 2, and maybe more RAM. Plus any other features they could introduce, I am hoping for ProMotion on the OLED models.

What universe are you living in? Apple's sales grew. Apple's revenue grew strongly because a good number of iPhone 8 sales went to the iPhone X. At the same time, Samsung is dropping like a stone. And where did you see Samsung having lower prices?

Apparently you didn’t read the actual article then??? If you’d read the first post, you’d see that I was referring to what had been said.

I’ll give you a hint... the statements I was referring to, are in the very first paragraph of the story in the very first post that started this whole thread.

My question though is if they make the X replacement $899, how much does the X cost drop? Typically they only drop $100 off any previous year device, making them the same price.
X is discontinued, replaced by newer model that is rumored to be mostly the same as last year, except A11—>A12 for CPU and 3GB—>4GB RAM.

Of course, they could always take a hit on their own margin.

Or they could just designed and manufacture iPhones worse.

If Apple isn't going to be rewarded for their effort, why put as much work in?

For the eternal gratitude of people who judge what 'correct' profit margin is?
Yeah... no.

Bro, all I'm saying is I wish that at the 699 price point, it could be an OLED screen, not LCD.
I don't see what's wrong with an LCD screen (and I have an OLED). In a number of comparison tests reviewers have said it's pretty darned hard to see much of a difference (if any) between the 8 plus and the iPhone X especially with True Tone.

Hint: how could the article cite “lower than expected”, when Apple doesn’t publish their expectations?

I hope for the new iPhone lineup to make a significant improvement to battery life! I'd like to go smaller this year, but don't want to compensate for lack of battery life with power bank or battery case.
The A12 Is fabricated on TSMC’s new 7nm process node so battery life will increase, unless Apple uses a smaller battery to decrease weight.

An 8 plus with edge to edge screen. Is that basically this year’s 6.1 X plus phone? I’m trying to get an idea of how big the 6.1 will be.

Apple Pencil support, LMAO.

I don't think the current apple pencil could be used properly on an iPhone, and if they create a mini apple Pencil, they need to find some way to have it be on the device (otherwise, it's just another thing you carry).

3GB of RAM and 64GB at baseline? I’m in. Finally an iPhone with a base model that fits my needs and gives me more RAM than my current 6S. I’m finding 64GB to be the sweet spot for my usage (never fill more than 75% of my 64GB 6S).

Now hoping that the LCD model will be dual SIM universally.

Pencil support on a phone? There goes Samsung copying Apple again! Oh...wait...oops... ;)

At least Samsung was able to fit the pen IN the phone!

The question is, how the rest of the lineup would look like? It is clear that the 8 and 7 would go down a tier, but what about the SE and 6S? Would the SE disappear replaced by the 6S, or the 6S disappear (replaced by the 7) while the SE remains?

Nonetheless, the SE/6S can be a great device to get for some as they’re the last iPhones with headphone jacks.

Who the heck needs 512 gigs of storage in their phone? Like seriously. I’m having issues filling up 60 gigs on my 256 gb phone. And I have plenty of apps photos and my whole music library downloaded.

I think they’ll go with 128/512. We’ve seen that in the past even though it does not make sense at all.
I was wondering that as well. What the heck do you put on a phone that you would need 512 gigs? Movies? And why wouldn't an iPad be better for that? I don't get it.

Not a phone, but still...

Hmmm.... competitors increased market share by offering higher performance, features, and a lower price, while Apple’s sales were lower than expected.

Really???

Who could’ve seen that coming??? Oh, yeah... everyone outside Apple headquarters.

The question is... how much money did they have to pay for that market analysis?
The competitors outside Samsung is barely making any money. Even Samsung is pushing their prices up as well.
Apple is trading off less volume with higher ASP.
Regardless of what we think, we will see what the market will bear. Who would’ve thought that people would be buying the $999 X. Come this September, a better one would be available for $100 less.

I wonder how much Apple is going to shaft users for the higher memory options.
Probably going to have the base model 32gb an amount that 99% of users can’t use for $899 and then the only other model 512gb an amount that is way to much for 99% of users and then charge $300 more for what costs them $40 to upgrade that way most people are forced to buy a $1200 phone. Just my guess.

It’s just you. I always enjoy the September keynotes regardless, being that we don’t know exactly what to expect, other than its Apples annual iPhone event. But three new iPhones to me seems fairly promising and opens up to an expanded demographic for those who might want the more affrobale 6.1 LCD iPhone (Which is the wildcard currently) or the larger 6.5 iPhone X, and of course the 5.8 X.

I Can tell you what would make it more exciting though, A refreshed iPhone SE *if* that were to launch.
i just hope Apple won’t leak EVERYHTING through a firmware again like last year. I mean the HomePod firmware pretty much leaked everything on the keynote last year.
