Same. 8+ here. I'm waiting for them to remove the notch, offer a true edge to edge display, USB-C, 8gb of ram (joking but would be nice), a better camera with a wider angle len(s) (24mm would be nice).

Yep. Agreed. I want all of that and, if possible, making the new phones thin once again. If the leaks are correct and the 2019 models are growing in thickness, that's going backwards in my book.

You know what's great, that I can't use my Lighting headphones that came with my iPhone XS on a new Macbook Pro or the new iPad Pro which is now USB C. So the continuity even within their lines is blurred even more now. Also, I love that the iPhone XR, the cheaper, model has "The longest battery life ever in an iPhone." You'd think you'd want that in your flagship device? Nah. So also why not throw 3 or 4 more cameras on the back of the phone in their own little bump layer on top of the "sleek" design, super useful when clearly there is no where else they could improve.... Everyone had a heart attack with the first camera bump, so Apple was like "oh yea?" well here's one 3 times as big.

That is so messed up. I mean, any rational being would be like "you serious"?

Let me get this straight... I go to Apple store today, I buy latest iPhone, I buy latest MacBook, and I cannot use the headphones that came with my latest iPhone in my latest MacBook. That's borderline theft.

That mock up with the camera set up on the back looks way to obtrusive. I mean, I gather we don’t really look at the back of our iPhones, and most use cases, but that design element looks oddly off-putting. Hopefully the final product doesn’t look exactly like that.

People have been saying this exact same thing sine the iPhone 5.

  • 5: Those glass windows on the back are ugly, hopefully this isn't the final design.
  • 6: Those antenna lines are ugly, hopefully this isn't the final design
  • X: That notch is ugly, hopefully this isn't the final design.

Hrmmm... not sure about the ability to wirelessly charge other devices from your phone. I never really had an issue where I was desperate to charge my watch or airpods.

This is so stupid. I want a phone that has a "good enough" camera for quick snapshots. For serious stuff I have a real camera. How about a phone that is great at being a phone, not an octopus?

Not if you charge your phone overnight, then it doesn’t really matter how long it takes. I don’t understand why so many people don’t charge their phones overnight, I mean it’s just laying there while you sleep, why not have it charging?

The only reason I don’t is because I’ve noticed that since I’ve stopped charging overnight starting with my 7 Plus- my battery capacity has been miles better vs my older phones. Also, now that I’m on a XS Max, the battery is so big, and I have quick charging in the car and a wireless charge pad at work if I need a charge. I’ll only charge overnight if I’m under 15% when I go to bed (I use the phone as my alarm).

But everybody’s mileage may vary. That just works well for me.

The difference being, I never once used the word ‘ugly’ in my post as you’re indicating. Regardless if it is the final design, you’re adding unnecessary words. What I find about this the look, is it obtrusive, which I think we can all agree on.

Saw a prototype on my way to work today.

So, 5 models for 2019? If that's the case, I guess Apple really wants to get rid of TouchID iPhones ASAP.
Imagine for 2019 lineup, all current iPhones are replaced.

- 5.42" iPhone XSE, A11, 32GB base, $499
- 6.06" iPhone XR Series2, A12, 64GB base, OLED screen, dual camera, $599; XR Series2 Max, 6.67", $699
- 6.1" iPhone XI, A13, 128GB base, triple camera, $899; XI Max, 6.5" $999.

Transition to FaceID, complete.
Transition to Apple-custom GPU, complete.

Dude, do you also have something for me? Maybe 30 grams....?

You accept PayPal?

Totally agree. I would much rather have a simple flush camera. Phones will never be able to do serious photography, so stop bulking up the device.

Doesn’t aluminum interfere with the wireless signal for charging? Isn’t that one of the reasons why Apple chose glass for wireless charging capabilities.

That's what Tiger is implying/asking. If one were to deduce that wireless charging is getting a back seat (because Apple abandoned their proposed wireless charger) then wouldn't it make sense to bring back aluminum-back phones? Even if they wreck the ability to wirelessly charge, they're much more drop-proof than glass-back phones, and cheaper to manufacture.

I do not mind the lenses on the back, if indeed wide-angle and very-poor light exposures are improved, commingled with flawless, optical stabilization.

I carry my iphone inside a bespoke, leather sleeve that protects it and fits its dimensions perfectly.
So I do not mind protrusion.

But what I do mind, is the current obsession for super-sized iPhones.
These phablet-sized phones are ergonomic nightmares -- just to carry around, to hold, and to interact.

Still waiting for a rebirth of a modern execution of the SE form factor.
But, apparently, to Cooke "size matters"./s

Let me just say, quoting The Shadow and having a picture of The Phatom, you win extra cool points from me.

Hideous lol. Going to stick around with iPhone X for a little longer I guess. Need to replace the battery tho, life's only at 85% :D

The least I expect from these overpriced iPhones is the introduction of USB-C port for faster data transfer to PC. But it would really be a huge shame if they stick to antiquated Lightning port which can’t even do USB 3 speeds. They did it with last year’s iPad Pros why not with iPhones this year? How much fragmentation do we need in Apple land?

Port fragmentation has been an Apple specialty since FW400.

The whole ‘drop proof’ with the aluminum versus glass argument, it’s too variable to make any real statements on that. The reality is, consumers use cases almost 99% of the time on their iPhones, so one way the other the phone is protected, it rather be glass or aluminum.

Secondly, Just because the Airpower was canceled, there’s no reason to take a feature away specifically just because Apple didn’t release their product. Wireless charging is still an advantage to the consumer, and it doesn’t mean that Apple won’t release another product in the future, where the iPhone’s take advantage of the wireless charging, aside from the third-party options already on the market.

My theory is now that people keep their phones as long as it'll last. Apple wants to sell it to you at the highest pricepoint they can, hence removing the cheaper options.
This is me. If i buy a phone at $1000. I am not trading that phone in within a year. Just cause i want the new model. I will keep that succor till it breaks down and can’t go no more lol.

If you'd read my quote for context, you'd have realized I was addressing the look of the module, not the functionality. I wouldn't be addressing the functionality because I'd have no idea what functionality Apple intended to incorporate. But yeah, go ahead think about it for me and make up some functionality that you think justifies that placement. Pretty sure someone else will come up with reasons why you're wrong. In the interim, I'm going to stick with the opinion that it's ugly.
You compared it to another phone as though that implementation is superior to this leak's placement. I responded by saying that corner placement is functionally superior to center for a few rather obvious reasons. They aren't made up.

I compared it to another phone as if it was uglier. The first two sentences in my quote: "That camera module looks terrible. I'd like to think Apple wouldn't do something so bad, but we already have big offset camera bumps and notches, so..." Everything that followed supported that opinion. Nothing in my quote could be misconstrued as a reference to functionality. You simply misinterpreted what you read and replied with errant snark. It happens. No biggie.

No, I just assumed that no one would focus solely on appearance and ignore functionality. I guess I was wrong.
