I have one that came with my iPad Pro. It charges my iPhone to 50% in like 15 minutes. The rest takes longer but it's pretty amazing for a quick top up a couple of times during the day.

I'm travelling tomorrow and thinking of taking just this brick to quickly charge my iPhone and iPad but I still have my Watch. I wonder if the Watch will support this if plugged in with a USB-A to C adapter.

Should have happened 2 years ago. This is why more and more, Apple is not perceived as a "premium" brand. Tim Cook seems to like to cut corners. People pay more, they expect more. Simply give them a user experience that's on par or only slightly better than the competition, and pretty soon jumping ship doesn't look so bad.

Been an Apple fan a loooong time, but they had better get their head and their ass word together or else find themselves back in the wander the universe days of the last 90's and early 2000's

Just ask Sears, hubris in the marketplace is AWESOME!!!!

Such a waste. What's the point of Lightning anymore?

It's clear Apple is going USB-C. So buying yet another iPhone with a port that will be obsolete?

As much as I love this would happen, I don't think Apple is willing to lose another sales from their flimsy Lightning cable. They just revived iPad Mini and iPhone SE, these cable sales is just much to give especially people brakes their cable within one year.

I have a couple iPad chargers from previous iPads on my desk. Been fast charging my iPhones for several years!

ffs get rid of this lightning port already.

Releasing a higher-output charger tells me either:

1. more and more people want the ability to quick charge, for one reason or another
I assume it's because people want to quickly charge their phone.

Why on earth is Apple still making Lightning devices in 2019?? Come on! Move to USB-C already!

I really think there’s only one reason for people wanting the ability to quick charge...and that’s so they can quick charge :D

The bundled/not bundled fast charger represents the two sides of average comments:
"1200 dollars phone and no fast charger, what the ..."
vs.
"if you have 1200 dollars to spend on a phone you don't mind about spending another 40 bucks".
Both on the good side against the other evil one, of course

Pretty sure rich people don’t like to throw money away and are always happy with “more for less”.

This is what I think will happen.

"A bundled Lightning to USB-C cable would also mean that customers who paid at least $749 for a new iPhone would finally have a cable that connects with the latest MacBook, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro models out of the box."

Considering the faster charge will result in sooner battery failure, I can't believe Apple didn't offer this sooner.

I think that battery on the iWatch is too small to support that much current coming in.

iWatch? It doesn’t matter because the voltage is constant. Batteries take current (aka charge) according to their capability. It doesn’t matter that the charger may be able to produce more. In other words, a 10 ounce water bottle fills from a 10 gallon reservoir no faster than from a 1 gallon reservoir. The size of the neck determines the rate, not the size of the reservoir.

The 6S doesn't support fast charging. That's why it's the same result to 94-95 percent.

Fast charging is great... Even with a 12w charger in the car, my XS Max wouldn't really gain charge while being used.

Now it'll pick up charge super fast (5-75% in less than an hour) while being used. This is with a 45w usb-c pd car charger and the Apple cable.

My test device, an IP6 S

The problem I have with this (other than the 20 existing cables) is that the USB-C end doesn't work with all the USB ports in cars, airports, airplanes, wall circuits, hotels, etc. I guess I'll just use my existing Lightning to USB-A cables and store this one for future use.
I understand why Apple wants to convert to USB-C as others have but the world isn't really ready. How may people won't use CarPlay because they'll need a different (old maybe) cable or a dongle.
