Still rocking my iPhone SE. These device shells with the giant camera wart look awful; painfully awful. At this point, just make the whole shell *that thickness* if the camera system is now gonna be *that* big. Expand the shell, and Make iPhone Flat Again! #MiFA

Bad idea. The camera array, however big, still allows for a thinner overall case. Thicken the whole phone and when you add the case it will be significantly thicker. I think most people get a day out of their phone, so don't need the extra battery room. Apple has the the trade-offs just right for most of us.

I may swap my XR for the new XR to get back the dual camera. I enjoy smartphone photography and definitely miss universal portrait mode. None if the 3rd party apps work remotely close to having a dual lens set up.

Honestly, by making the phone that thick, they could incorporate significantly bigger batteries, which would be *chef kiss*

I hope we can have 4000mah batteries on 2020 iPhone. It will be a sure buy for many.

Dude, there never is, or was.
Ride your XR to its sunset.
There is plenty of liveliness on these disposables for a three- to four-year cycle.
But, just my opinion.

If the battery life was substantially increased, then sure. This though? Someone with an X on up (moving to the 11R) would be throwing money away (which is entirely their choice, but still.......)

This is pretty much what I wanted. The battery life on my XS is great but always could use more on days where I'm at high usage. I do use 3D Touch occasionally but wouldn't be torn up if it was removed. I love Face ID and don't even notice the notch 95% of the time.

I hope they color code the bump to the color of the back of the phone, it'll reduce the ugliness of the marshmallow bump.

Will be upgrading.

That thickness would be just awful. Also, as far as I know, separating the camera module from the rest of the back glass is also quite practical because they use a much better glass, which is more scratch resistant. Imagine getting some scratches where the camera is and not being able to use the camera anymore.

Quite disappointed about the eSIM support. It's almost nonexistent outside US.

Everyone might be uninterested in this year, but I'm getting one. Currently on an android and cant wait for this years model to come out.

And yes 2020 might be the one to get, but I'm gonna enjoy this one and when the day for the next one comes I'll decide what to do then.
New iPhone are not for people already owning an XS/XR.
If you have an older phone, you'll be pleased by this year models.

Why not save some money and get an XS/Max when these are released? Basically the same phones, and will be cheaper when the 2019s are released.
Because inside it will be a totally different device. Not to speak about the new cameras...

The reason the battery is bigger on the XS and XS Max successor, is clearly because the display no longer needs to be ticker for 3D touch. If these battery claims are true, then 3D touch is dead. This is also why the XR battery size and life is unchanged, as it already does not have 3D touch.

How about a ~5 year cycle - I personally am quite excited to upgrade from the 6. I guess I'll never know what 3D Touch was like...

Same here. I feel like I've bled just about every drop of usefulness out of my 6 after having it for 5 years, so to me, the XR's battery life will be a massive improvement and should be a pretty good step up over the long haul (another 5 yrs or so)

What did anyone expect from the company that brought us the notch. No reason for me to upgrade. Unless next years phone is spectacular... it may be time to be done with iPhone.

T. Cook is the inverse personality of Steve Balmer, but he somehow is getting similar results... Boring Zune updates while the rest of the world moves on.

I had the first 4 iPhones, then switched to Moto G phones. Dual sim was one of the main reasons I switched and have not switched back.

Would be tempted to get an iPhone in order to get an Apple Watch, but a single sim just is not practical for me, no way of getting around that. Was hoping that Apple might make the watch Android compatible (in the same way they made iPods Windows compatible) but I reckon that's unlikely.
