Same here. I feel like I've bled just about every drop of usefulness out of my 6 after having it for 5 years, so to me, the XR's battery life will be a massive improvement and should be a pretty good step up over the long haul (another 5 yrs or so)
I'm curious — I've never used any one phone for that long (the longest I've gone is 2 years). Is the 6 very slow at this point? I mean doing basic stuff like opening, refreshing, composing, sending, email, web pages, opening apps, reading news?

Yeah that's always a swell idea (no pun intended), but realistically, I think bigger/larger batteries would mean a lot of extra weight that we (all of us collectively) aren't considering. I said the same, as well, a while back, but I bet if we really got it, then we'd probably complain of the weight. :) Us silly users... we ain't ever happy.

But yes.. something along those lines would be nice. Just not that friggin' wart.

I could handle a few extra grams but yeah, the average Joe is never happy whatever you give 'em.

Phone start up, opening/switching between apps, sending pictures via text and imessage and refreshing apps/pages are the areas where I can definitely see a slowdown now. Deleting extraneous apps, photos and such helps a tad, but not too much (this is even with iOS 12's improvements). Scrolling through web pages is okay, with the occasional hiccup if a page is image intensive. Same with composing emails.

Plus, I've got age-related battery life issues here too as I didn't bother to take advantage of last year's battery replacement program (though to be fair, random shutdowns & the like have only become an issue in the last few months)

It is slow, but not unbearable by any means. Main complaint is the 1GB of RAM, apps are always needing to relaunch. I skipped iOS 11, but iOS 12 has been excellent. I did take advantage of the $29 battery replacement (and got a new screen too out of it - supposedly the Apple techs had difficulty getting it off, glad I didn't attempt myself).

Also, I've dropped it in the sink full of soapy water whilst doing dishes on two separate occasions - both times getting it out within a second, but still fully submerged, and turning it off for a day or two. Needless to say I'm looking forward to some officially tested water resistance.

I'm planning on getting the Pro version and am okay spending $1K on a phone every 5 years - call it $0.50 to $0.60 per day - given the convenience and value it delivers that is certainly worth it in my opinion.

I wonder why they don't release the dua SIM here in India, a lot of people buy Android phones only because they support dual sim cards.

Nope! People already claimed the iPhone 4 design to be the worst ever. How could they know it’d become iconic and is considered one of the (if not _the_) best iPhone design(s)

Apple is known to pretty well know it’s users. And most iPhone users probably put a case on the device on day one.

So the quality camera(s) requires a certain thickness (and backside real estate) for technological reasons, but the rest of the case can be thinner, to allow the package of iPhone and case to be reasonably light and thin eventually. The vast majority is happy with that.

The small minority can still get battery cases or power banks, if battery time is insufficient. And if you insist to use your iPhone caseless and want to place it on a table without wobbling: Well, sounds there is a market niche for stickers imitating the bump height, so the iPhone can lay perfectly flat on the table again.

And how about a “pro” version that covers the whole back and only leaves the camera area open?! Now that would sell like hot cakes, I bet! How about marketing it as ... say ... “case” or “back cover”? Yes, that sounds like a plan! Oh wait ... ;)

OOO TAKE MY MONEY!! hah

Will these iPhones have Qualcomm modems? If yes, may be worth the upgrade.

Indeed. I haven't had good cell reception since the Qualcomm days. I had a total of five or six of the iPhone 7. All but the last one had defective cell sensitivity out of the box. The last one had merely poor reception, but had to be replaced when the modem died. If Apple is going to take over Intel's modem business, I hope they do a better job than Intel did.

Yes, I remember, the 6 model had not enough RAM as Apple cheaped-out on us. I had constant refreshes on web pages and it drove me crazy quickly (but it only started to do this significantly at about 70% through the first year with one of the iOS updates). I upgraded to the S+ due to the increased RAM, and I kept that phone until the X. Glad to hear that the phone has been more than satisfactory for you for so long! :)

I'm going to hold off for another year, I'll upgrade when they feature the 5G chips.

Yep, I remember the RAM problem now, Apple intentionally made the decision to shave a few pennies off the cost of the phone by skimping on the RAM. I found it too frustrating to keep the phone for even a year. At most I could open 2 webpages before all of them would reload when I switched tabs or apps. Try completing a form while checking in a password manager or some other reference, going back and having the page you've nearly completed refresh so that you have to start over! That really made me mad. This current XS Max I have will need to last me another year, as I'm not going to upgrade until the phones have 5G chips at the least. Right now there's no real 5G infrastructure anyway, so I don't care, but I don't see the need to upgrade my current Max just for slightly better Face ID and a third camera.
