I love how people immediately assume rumours have told us everything about these new phones and that there isn't a secret feature(s) that Apple is hiding, like every year.

At one point I was sold on having to upgrade every year to the newest iPhone. Then I decided I would keep my current model(XR) and wait for the 2020 upgrade. Then I had a change of mind and said I will end up bending to get the new iPhone this year. But now with more and more "leaks" I am sold on keeping my XR. Once iOS13 drops officially why would anyone that does have a XS, XS Max or XR want to upgrade other than to say they have the latest and greatest?

And in come all the complaints from people who bought a new iPhone last year. Because planned obsolescence is a bad thing but not having major changes from one year to the next is also a bad thing. It’s a bad thing that someone who bought a phone in September 2018 doesn’t really have a reason to buy another new phone in September 2019.

This is just...disappointing.

Ok? So what’s disappointing that you think this iPhone _should_ include? Your post doesn’t explain anything. If they include an all new camera, possibly including reverse charging, a new haptic engine and slow Mo video, along with logic board/battery improvements, I think this phone is shaping up to be relatively nice (Depending on what you’re upgrading from). The triple lens camera being the biggest distinction of what it might offer come fall. The only one setting yourself up for ‘disappointment’, is you.

I look forward to this new iPhone release! At that time I will buy a new case for my current, almost year old XS Max

Wow,such innovation! Even i am getting bored now and i am a big Apple fan.Think i will definetely stick with my XS Max for another year.

Me too. Thinking of paying the XS Max loan off and living phone debt free this year. There's nothing compelling about these 2019 phones.
If you currently have an XS why do you need a new phone?

So 120hz screen, three back cameras, slow-mo front camera. Faster FaceID. Faster processor.

Feels like another S year. iPhone XS2.

You just listed a spec sheet. What’s innovative about more ram or a bigger battery? If Apple wanted to be spec whores they could do the same thing.

I’m going to miss force-touch, I think.
Part of the reason (a big part actually) I left the iOS 13 beta was to go back to it.

I am going to hold off upgrading to iOS 13 for a bit. There's nothing on there I look at and say "YES I HAVE TO HAVE THIS!"

Dark mode was fine for like a day and then I didn't care. I have a swype type keyboard in G-Board and what else is there? If I can't remember, it's because I don't care.

It reminds me of those demos Steve used to do comparing the Powermac to the Pentium processors with twice the megahertz. Apple’s arm processors have always out-performed Snapdragon.

It's going to be sad watching Tim try to sell this on stage in the Fall. Those with an X or XS model will have practically no reason to upgrade until the 2020 5G phones come out with USB C ports.
People complain about planned obsolescence but then also complain because there’s no real reason to upgrade their year old phone. Honestly what hardware are you missing from an X or XS? What is this big must have feature? Outside of camera improvements and this silly obsession with bezels/notches I don’t see what there is. Foldable phones are gimmicks at this point.

tidbits so far from the 2019 iPhone rumor mill don't even make iPhone 6 users want to upgrade (until the 2020 models come out)

Probably not a very good analogy here. Most iPhone 6 users who are not enticed to upgrade from a phone that was released in 2014, obviously wouldn’t care much, simply because they don’t pay attention to the amount of changes that iPhone has occurred over the years. They’ll keep using their iPhone 6 until it breaks or the battery needs to be replaced.

I'm on the Upgrade Program, so should be a seamless change to the new model. The thing is, with all these rumours and the designs coming out, the only thing that will make me renew the lease term will be if the camera blows everything else away with something like a 10x zoom.

Medium CPU upgrade, losing force touch, ugly as sin design and slo-mo video recording is not enough for me to sign up to another year of iPhone ownership. I will continue using my XS Max up until the end of the term and then see what the 2020 iPhone or competition has to offer, but at the moment, I'm seeing a lot more from other companies that's getting my attention.
