Changing the "iPhone" to "Apple Phone" would be a huge blunder. It reminds me of when WWF turned to WWE and half their viewership just DROPPED right off.
Macintosh was THE supreme brand for Apple.
You can't buy a Macintosh anymore.

Wonder if we're getting closer to a new naming convention.
Apple Watch
Apple Card
Apple Pay
Apple TV
Apple TV Plus
Apple Phone
Apple Pad/Tablet
it would basically force everyone to think and say the Apple brand every single time.

Fine by me. Although EU models are surely still going to have all the CE markings on the back?
Because no one thinks of Apple when someone says iPhone or iPad?

You can buy one right here https://www.apple.com/mac/
I believe this is a way to get read of the old “i” before everything, which reflects a previous era = Jobs era. It was pretty clear they are changing course in the iPhone 6 ketone when every new product and service they announced (first new categories without Steve) had in front of them.
Since then I was wondering how they will manage to change the names in older products like the iPhone and iPod. I still know people who can’t even spell them right (e.g. I-phone) imagine having to rebrand them.
I think this might be the beginning. It’s pretty clever to have only an apple logo on a phone if you want to start training people calling it phone. It will take time. It will take effort. But if true, this could be the first step.
I have yet to see any rumours that make upgrading from my Jet Black 256gb 7+ worth while.... think I'll wait for the 2020 refresh. Hopefully by then they will have a proper deep gloss black option rather than just Space Grey.
I think you're on to something here. Even though I feel like iPhone is a powerful brand name in itself this just makes too much sense.
Obviously, I am just speculating for the fun of it. iPhone is, as you say, very recognizable. But it's also becoming a "tired" brand.

Seriously, it's not gonna start at 128gb?!? Wow.
Very possible. Although Apple Pad/Tablet seems awkward to me at least.![]()
Ok, so no name on the back, no USB-C.
But don't worry, you'll still get the notch!

64gb is plenty for many peopleSeriously, it's not gonna start at 128gb?!? Wow.
Actually when you like at the iPhone ads on the streets or in stores, they added the Apple logo and looks like "Apple iPhone", like it is for the "Apple Watch", etc. What you are saying is definitely something they are working on.
It's less awkward than iPhone-Ten-es-pro in my opinion![]()
More minimalism & consistency is always welcomed.
Amazing how much credence is given to information from an anonymous factory worker. Might as well walk into a Taco Bell and ask the kitchen people about the ingredients in the 2020 Chalupa.
I've never actually thought about that and now it makes a lot of sense. For example, why they didn't name those "iWatch/iCard/iPay etc.".Wonder if we're getting closer to a new naming convention.

Because rumors are the foundation of sound decision making.
Had Apple still been selling a 16GB or 32GB iPhone, I'd agree with you, but *starting* at 128GB is extreme for a iPhone, especially for one connected to iCloud for storage optimizations.

"i" is so 2009
