Max Verstappen is an incredible talent. A once-in-a-decade driver who has risen very quickly to the top of the grid. And he has matured a lot in the past two years.

That said, Lewis Hamilton would not have collided with Lance Stroll in an identical situation. And I think most of us know that, and the reason(s) why.

“Max unapologetic” is unfortunately less surprising news than “Pope is Catholic”. He is a talented driver but appears to somewhat lack insight into social issues and, er, manners.

Strange qualifying. Mediums rather than softs? Not the standard.
But the order of Lewis, Bottas and Max is very familiar.

In other news looks like Williams might sign Perez. Makes sense as he is a good driver and brings sponsors.
However why would they drop Russell over Latife? He’s in Q2 where his team mate is stone cold last. I just do t get the thinking.
Anyway I hope Russell stays in the seat.
Hass have decided to sack their pair. I’m really not surprised. I don’t rate Grojan or Magnesun. Neither have made an impression on the sport accept a shed load of broken wings!

Does Latife bring in more money than Russell? Williams is still dead-last in the WCC with no points so if Perez can bring in more money (and talent) to score WCC points to move them higher up in the standings, that arguably makes him more valuable than Russell.

Latife must bring in cash. Because despite the car being rubbish I don’t think he has ever out qualified his team mate.

Perez deserves a much better seat than Williams. It's almost criminal that Vettel is getting his seat after the dreadful season he's had.

Perez should still bring pretty good commercial sponsorship money to a team, but I guess it doesn't buy the seat in 2020 it did in 2014 when he joined Force India.

As for Vettel, hopefully getting out of a dreadful car with a dreadful team will mean a 2021 season that is not so dreadful.

Maybe Hass might take a look at him?

One never knows, however from what I read it would seem they to want to go with 2 winning drivers from F2. IMO we will see Mick Schumacher and Russian Nikita Mazepin. Both have big sponsorship money with them. Especially Mazepin, and both are Ferrari Driver Academy. I'd say it's likely Ferrari will have allot of influence.

But it's all speculation on my part. I also think we will then see Mick in a Ferrari after Carlos, or if Leclerc ends up at Mercedes after his contract.

So many unknowns about 2022.

Exciting start, with the rain playing havoc with the Medium tire runners, but once the track dried, normal service was restored and it was the usual Lewis | Bottas | Verstappen show. LeClerc acquitted himself well to finish fourth and even Vettel could be bothered to score some points.

It was simply a case of the mediums struggling to get up to temperature, rain had nothing to do with it.
The rain was what stopped the mediums up to temperature in my opinion.
Anyway it was nice to see the McLaren’s up there for a while. Even if it didn’t last.
Yes the podium looked very familiar. But Lewis deserved his victory. Bottas made him work for it early on. But he reeled him in, overtook and then made his tyres last.

I remember Schumacher getting to 91 and thinking we would never get there again.
Very impressive. Yes his car is good. But he makes the best of it week in week out.

No one can question that Lewis is the most successful driver. The greatest? Different question: I would say he is as part of being great is managing your career and relationships. Max will never get into a Mercedes because of this (partly).

Lewis also not just in the best car. He caught, overtook and then put 25s on his team mate yesterday. So he is at the very least the better driver in the best car

I don’t think there is a single greatest driver in history and I don’t take anybody seriously who suggests there is. There are far too many greats that have made history in the sport and it would be unfair to pick one. Stats don’t signify anyone in particular in my opinion. Lewis is a great and earned his title to be talked about in the same breath as the other greats but that’s it. If I ask my father who the greatest is he always talk about drivers from his childhood like Fangio, Moss, Hill, Clarke, Rindt etc. My era in my childhood was the Senna, Prost, Piquet and Mansell period. Kids these days will relate more heavily towards the Vettels and Hamilton’s.

To put it simply, ‘Lewis is one of the greatest F1 drivers in the sports history’.. I don’t think anybody could credibly deny that.
