Not even have a full race Callander confirmed yet.

This will have an interesting impact on strategy I think. Teams can't play games as easily with tactically replacing engines etc when they don't know how many more races they have to go. If we end up with an 8 race season the difference between 1st and 2nd is worth a lot more than on a 22 race season so we may see more risk taking instead of just sitting in 2nd for the points...

Different tracks favour different teams, so I wonder who will benefit the most from the tracks actually being used this year.

Think this is a good point. Hopefully will lead to a ‘get the points in the bag’ approach. Great to have it back though. Looking forward to practice 2 where we see where Ferrari really are.

I’ve just changed my TV, which has been a great update in itself, but I don’t get Sky Q until Monday. I can’t wait to see a F1 race in all it’s UHD glory!! :):)

I don’t think my missus is as excited to see F1 back as I am though.....I expect some complaints incoming on Sunday!!

Lol. Yes I had a similar response when I mentioned F1 was back!

Same ol' same ol' ... ?

Only practice 2 ...

Still catching up (on FP1 coverage), but happy to see Racing Point in 3rd. It looked like the team went into free-fall after Stroll Sr. bought the team so hopefully they've found their way again as I always admired how much above their weight class they punched as Force India.

Indeed the Pink Mercedes is showing it's expected form. I am sorry to see Williams still basically the slowest car. Sad how far they have fallen

All this talk of the DAS steering on the Mercedes and is it legal etc. The FAI have known about it for months and if it wasn't legal, it wouldn't be on the car.

Good, solid start from Mercedes. But as we all know, FP3 is when teams start to show their true pace.

I‘m actually very interested in this and if other teams adopt it. While the system is very complex it really is up to the driver to utilize it for any advantage.

I don’t see this in anyway like one team gaining a performance advantage through horsepower or aero.

The driver has the ability to fine tune his front suspension for given conditions at a given track. It really puts the ball in the drivers ability to adapt and showcase their skill level.

I think the issue is it's very complicated to implement around your current design. Whereas Mercedes designed it as part of their design. Also as it's ruled out for next season, there isn't going to be much pay off for the payout.

Ferrari 5th and 7th after Practice 3.

What’s your thoughts.....still sand bagging a bit or off the pace this year?

Thanks, I was not aware it had been ruled out for next season. Obviously I've not been paying attention.

I still like any innovative design that puts more ownership on the drivers ability versus the chassis designers.

Off the pace.

Well the current Ferrari design has serious flaws they did not catch in pre-season testing and the new "corrected" design will not be available before the Hungarian round so the Austrian and British rounds will likely be more the same.

I too can’t see an easy way for anyone other than Mercedes to win. It’s possible some unexpected event might play into Red Bulls hands. I cab see McLaren fading in the race. It was a great lap but I don’t think it flatters the true pace of the car lap after lap. However if there is some odd event that prevents a Mercedes win I’d love to see McLaren on the podium
