For those of us without fingerprints or with changing fingerprints (yes, it's a thing), FaceID is a godsend. Please don't go back to TouchID -- it was a nightmare for me.

And yes, I use 3D touch all the time, but mostly for editing.

They haven't even been announced so at this point it's a bit premature to pass judgment, especially based off rumor and speculation (and without even having seen or used the device yourself).

Have you heard of the trade war? This year is bad for electronics!

I have a hard time believing Apple would have any interest in going back to any sort of TouchID system after investing so much in FaceID.

Full screen TouchID is dead.

Absolutely. It makes no sense, for a variety of reasons.

People liked the SE because it was small. I love the size of the X but I wouldn’t be opposed to a smaller all screen iPhone with cheaper materials that I could use as my travel phone.
I think i misread the article. it's iPhone 8 internals, not the same size necessarily.

Do these people really believe that Apple will walk back on Face ID? After going with it on the iPads, the company has given more than enough evidence that it is fully invested in it. Never mind the fact that once you use Face ID you realize how much superior it is to Touch ID.

I have the XR and Face ID sucks. It's annoying (and less safe) to have to hold your phone out in front of you when jogging or driving (i.e. to switch "Radio" channels). Both of my kids have the iPhone 6 and don't want to upgrade because of Face ID.

That's marketing speak same as removing the headphone jack being old and antiquated.

The jack was not removed because it was "old and antiquated." It was removed because wireless connection is better than wired, a jack takes up space in the device that can be used for other things, and most people prefer not having wires connected between their ears and a device.

Wireless communication has been around since the late 1800s so it's just as "old."

Why on Earth would Apple re-introduce TouchID on new models? FaceID is so superior in my experience, which is saying something because TouchID was very good.

One thought though- perhaps having two separate biometric security measures would allow for double security options, where a user might want the extreme measure of using both to unlock the most sensitive data?

Barclays analyst Blayne Curtis and his associates today shared their expectations for both 2019 and 2020 model iPhones following their trip to Asia earlier this month, where they met with some suppliers within Apple's supply chain.

MacRumors render of 2019 iPhones with triple-lens rear cameras

Our summary of the research note, shared with MacRumors:The trio of high-end 2019 iPhones will have relatively few design changes, beyond additional rear camera lenses, with production set to ramp up in the typical July-August timeframe
3D Touch will be eliminated in all 2019 iPhones as Barclays previously predicted, possibly signaling a Haptic Touch expansion
The next-generation iPhone XR will have 4GB of RAM, up from 3GB, as previously predicted by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo
2020 iPhones will have more significant changes, including 5G support, 3D sensing via the rear camera system, and acoustic fingerprint technology that could allow for full-screen Touch ID
"A few suppliers" mentioned a potential "iPhone SE 2" with iPhone 8 internals in early 2020, but others had no knowledge of it
LG may become a secondary supplier of OLED displays for 2019 iPhones, with a 10-30 percent split of orders with Samsung, ahead of Apple transitioning all of its iPhones to OLED as early as 2020Other rumors have suggested that 2019 iPhones will feature frosted glass casing, larger batteries, and a bilateral charging feature that allows users to charge AirPods or an Apple Watch by placing them on the back of the iPhone.

Apple will likely unveil its latest iPhones in September as usual at Steve Jobs Theater.

32gb?

One SE is a 64gb, one is a 128gb, both phones are using about 75%. I could keep an eye out for refurbs with larger capacities though.

Yeah, now you know why there are any new SEs left at all on Apple’s website. Rose Gold and Gold 32GB evidently don’t excite even fans of the SE anymore.

You unfortunately missed the original clearance sales of the factory sealed 128GB models for $299.

If there is another iPhone SE it should be “small edition” and not the cheap-out version. In other words, a modern iPhone designed to be smaller. If Apple would just make an iPhone that fits the physical size of the current SE but with the X style treatment I would buy it immediately.

This is exactly it.
Small shouldn't equate with cheap garbage.

I want a small SE sized high end phone. Mostly the screen with no bezels and with Face ID. Thats the whole benefit. You can get the screen of an iPhone 8 on a device the size of an iPhone SE IF you do the iPhone X style screen without a home button.

Would be nice but not essential to have good camera too so its not a step down.

This is the phone I'm waiting for. I either refuse to buy a new phone or will buy used if I have to replace until Apple comes out with a more manageable size.

A year from now, give or take, is too long to wait for an SE2. I have two immediate family members with SE's that need new phones and will not go bigger than the SE form factor. I guess I better find some good quality used SE's.
Apple still sells them in the clearance section of their website.

In 2017 it was clear 3D Touch was to go away in 2019.

Whether you like it or not this is going to happen.

Clear to who? And analysts said the 2018 iPhones were going to lose 3D Touch. They were wrong. Now they’re going to keep their prediction but change the year?
