No need, unless the delivery person is infected and coughed on the package before handing it to you.

Very good advice in that article. Getting COVID-19 from a box is really unlikely.

Do the below to add another serious level of protection.

1. Open the UPS/Fedex box outside if able
2. Have family member remove the interior Apple box for you while you hold the UPS/Fedex box open.
3. Take the UPS/Fedex box and throw it in your dumpster.
4. Have someone hold the door open for you to enter the home
5. Go wash your hands having someone else turn on the water for you.

Happy computing and everyone stay safe out there!

Just shipped, with a nasty April 9th delivery date (original window April 3-10). Based in midwest.

Same here, except I originally had a March 27-April 3 delivery window. Hopefully it gets here sooner once I get the actual tracking number.

WOW... seems like Apple is missing their shipping window for a lot of orders. I don't remember seeing that before. I wonder if it's demand or lack of production due to Covid-19?
My original window was March 27-April 3. Now it says April 9 (my card was charged yesterday). My guess is COVID-19 is causing delays as UPS and FedEx prioritize other shipments.

still processing BTO i7/16GB/1TB in silver, since the 19th of March (australia time).

Still shows estimated delivery 1st-8th of April. Lol. I don't think so.

Anyone else order day one, pre built config and still stuck in processing with no credit card charge yet?

this is where i'm at.

I ordered a USB-C digital display adapter at the same time and have received that. I've been part-billed for that.

UK. base model upgraded to i5 and 16GB RAM.

Delivery window was April 6-10, received notification yesterday that it has shipped and will be delivered on 9th April.

With all that's going on in the world at the moment, if they stick to that I'll be very happy, but I won't be critical if it slips a bit.

If i had a date i'd be less grumpy, but the order has been stuck "processing" for 12 days now....

Immediately ordered the maxed out CTO MBA (i7/16GB/2TB) on March 18th, finally got the announcement it was shipped on March 28th with an estimated delivery by Apple on April 9th. Being shipped by DHL Express, currently the only tracking status update is 'Shipment information received" @ Eindhoven - Waalwijk - The Netherlands, and it hasn't moved since March 28th. The wait can be so long sometimes... Feeling like a kid who's waiting for a christmas present and hopes to get it earlier!
Anybody else here who has current Shipment information received status @ Eindhoven? I remember from orders back in the days that Apple always ships through Eindhoven with DHL Express (and from there further into the EU). I even remember earlier threads where we tried to track DHL planes coming from China, to guess where our MacBooks could be. :D (If you can accomplish this again, feel free folks)

I ordered on the day of release, which was the 18th, so yesterday was 12 days. It was stuck on processing until I got the email that it had shipped.

Did you order something out of the ordinary?

It was the morning of the 19th here in Australia (we're ahead 8 hrs of UTC) so probably within hours of me.

I did BTO of i7/16GB/1TB.

Hopefully any day now i get processed. Though my delivery estimate is still 1-8/4, i doubt that at this point :D

edit:
woohoo! it just hit "preparing to ship" :)

Same as others are reporting, mine shipped yesterday with April 9 arrival date (original window was 4/3 to 4/10). Maybe the actual delivery will be a bit speedier? If it actually gets on a plane out of China in the next couple of days, I can’t imagine transit will take that long.

in pre-Covid days, I used to be astounded how quickly goods from China landed on my doorstep (36 hours, although that is helped by crossing he dateline).

Slow boat from China, that’s were it will start its journey. You will not see any change in the shipping until it reaches Eindhoven.

Ah OK when I tracked my DHL it said it had originated from Eindhoven. Guess not.

I always thought thought “processing” meant the stock was being arranged, “preparing for dispatch” meant they had a physical unit in stock for the customer, and that “dispatched” meant that the unit had been (or was about to be) released to the courier. Is this an incorrect assumption? If this is the case surely the shipment from China has arrived at Eindhoven?

I think you will find that ‘dispatched’ means handed to the courier in China. If you are in the UK it has about 5 stops on the way to Eindhoven. When it gets there it is usually delivered to you with in 1/2 days. Mine was dispatched 29/3, delivery date is 9/4, which is quite along time, but with things as they are I think they are covering them selves. It is quite possible that they will be delivered before the actual date quoted, you never know.

That would certainly explain why it is showing two weeks for delivery to my door!
