How long does it usually take to go from "preparing to Ship" to "shipped"? It took ages to move on from "processing".

Yeah I'm in no rush. It is as long as I can remember a product arriving from Apple, but to be expected given the global crisis. I'm more interested in what policies DHL have, in regard social distancing and signing for the order once it arrives. I'm a postman and currently we are signing for parcels ourselves, then leaving on the doorstep before retreating and knocking and waiting for an answer from 2m away. Not sure how it would work with a more expensive item.

UK here.

Ordered stock i5 model on 18th, estimated delivery 6 - 15/4.

Shipped on the 26th. Received notification from courier that it will be delivered tomorrow!

Order is still showing original estimate.

Delivered today to UK.

Arrived in NL late on 30th, shipment info was received on the 25th.

I’m happy to say Apple pulled it out the bag again.

I ordered on the 18th, i5, 16, 256. Delivery is 4/3-4/10. The hold appeared on the credit card on 3/27, but no other update. My guess is the later date in the range or beyond! I was so hoping they would deliver early!
😢
Strange...

credit card still says pending. No email about preparing to ship, but when I log in and check, it says shipped, scheduled delive is 4/2. A day early!

I’m happy, just a little surprised!

🤞🏻

my order timeline so far:

March 23: Ordered built-to-order i5/16gb/1TB, delivery estimated for April 8 to April 15 (I'm in the U.S.)

March 27: Credit card (Apple Card) is charged (charge listed as "pending")

March 30: Order status updated from "processing" to "preparing for shipment" (credit card still shows the charge as "pending", even today on March 31)

--
Over the past few years, there have been a few times when I've ordered new or recently announced gear directly from Apple that was shipping from the country of manufacture (as opposed to already being in stock in the U.S.). The amount of time between "preparing for shipment" and "shipped" has varied from 1 day to 5 days. (The time it was 5 days, I was pulling my hair out.) I have no idea when that'll happen this time, but it sounds like some of you have gotten yours shipping out pretty quickly after going into "preparing for shipment" status, and some of you have delivery dates that were better than expected. Congrats. Hope I'll join you.

Hope all of you & your loved ones are healthy, safe, and as comfortable as possible.

Hey guys

I've ordered mine (i5,8gb,256gb) on March 21st, Apple didn't charge my credit card yet. I find this really strange, but according to some of you, it is normal from their side.

I'm suppose to get it between April 9th - April 20.
I'm Canadian (province of Québec)

I'm finally replacing my old Macbook Air Mid 2013, with the 128gb (...). I can't wait to be amaze by the smaller version, the giant trackpad and the magic keyboard.

I'm excited, but it'S SO LOOOOONG.

In a similar boat here. Ordered the i5/8gb/256 on March 24th. No charge, still processing. Est delivery of April 9th through the 16th.

Ordered on 20/3, i5 16GB 256. Hold put on CC 24/3, dispatched 30/3. Hold removed from CC on 31/3, no sign of any pending payment on CC. Phoned Apple today and they said that the money had been taken. Perhaps the bank will not charge me. 🤞

So. What do I believe?

the email from Apple says delivery BOS April 8. But click to tracking and it says April 2. I’m guessing it won’t be early.

i5 / 16GB RAM / 512GB SSD. Classic silver. Moving on from a Pixelbook Go that was more like a Pixelbook NO in terms of software optimization. I loved the keyboard on that thing, though.

Ordered this morning from Ottawa with a seriously depressing delivery date of April 20-24. Bleh. I’ll just have to rewatch reviews and unboxings to maintain some semblance of sanity in the meantime!

Not gonna lie, as a Content Marketing Specialist working from home, I was *this* close to ordering a ThinkPad X390 or X1 Carbon for a similar price that would have arrived way sooner. Still, knowing that I don’t have time to endure weeks of returns/griefing over Lenovo’s Russian roulette approach to quality control, if any, I figured screw it. I need a reliable system that offers a good display and battery life, and Applecare+ covers three years as it is.

This is the first new Mac I’ve purchased since a max-specced 2012 27-inch iMac at launch and a refurb 2012 13-inch retina MacBook Pro for school a couple years later, so I’m really excited. Given that I write most of the day, I hope the keyboard holds up (though I use an external ThinkPad compact bluetooth one at home, ironic as that is).

Ordered the 18th, shipped almost midnight the 29th, and sitting in Shanghai for a day and a half now. Unless FedEx tracking is lagging.

Well, my order that finally shipped a few days ago that said it was arriving on 4/7 (with a 3/26-4/2 arrival window) then went to 4/6 once UPS got it, and now it says "information unavailable" for the delivery date.

Hopefully it moves up sooner, but there has barely been any activity on it in the two days since it shipped. They're really taking their time with this express delivery.

Ha! yep, you're absolutely right. i'm a biologist/ecologist who has contaminated more petri dishes than i can remember. anyway, this is fantastic advice, and illustrates the level one has to go to keep the home 'clean'.

Registered Nurse here...

Very good advice in that article. Getting COVID-19 from a box is really unlikely.

Do the below to add another serious level of protection.

1. Open the UPS/Fedex box outside if able
2. Have family member remove the interior Apple box for you while you hold the UPS/Fedex box open.
3. Take the UPS/Fedex box and throw it in your dumpster.
4. Have someone hold the door open for you to enter the home
5. Go wash your hands having someone else turn on the water for you.

Happy computing and everyone stay safe out there!

Same with me—sitting in Shanghai for a few days. Scheduled to be delivered tomorrow by 1030am (in LA).

Dispatched! Delivers 14th April. Seems a a long time. Guess everything’s a little crazy at the moment!
The issue is that there aren’t as many flights. Note that cargo often is transported on passenger flights. It’s a source of revenue for the air carriers. But with no passenger flights, cargo capacity (not just Apple, but everyone’s) is limited.

For my order, just over 24 hours.
