It seems like anyone who ordered a BTO after the morning of May 4th all got stuck with 1-2 weeks shipping. Currently, my configuration has a delivery estimate of May 28th - June 4th if you order today (May 9th at 2:13pm EDT).

Not necessarily. I ordered the max spec 13” as soon as it was announced and still have a ship date of may 20-28
Crazy, some people got their BTOs on May 8th! Do you know why the disparity in delivery dates?
My guess is you’ll have it by Tuesday if it’s already shipped, perhaps even Monday. I was in the batch of orders that went out on the 5th and I got mine on the 7th (I paid extra for expedited shipping). Apple’s website said May 14-18 even while UPS said it was on a truck half a mile from my condo on the 7th, so Apple isn’t updating as quickly.
It really is very nice. I had the i7/16/512 MBA, but returned it and ordered the i5/16/512 Ice Lake Pro and am very happy with it. I'm installing the latest Windows 10 May 2020 preview within Parallels Desktop, running Quicken within Crossover (WINE), Excel for Mac, and it's handling it well right now. The processor isn't throttling, and everything is running smoothly.
Thats great to hear! It would be amazing to get it monday or tuesday. I’m looking forward to it breathing some new life into my work from home situation that is starting to get stale
The i7/32/2TB was the only BTO that was ready to ship for those who ordered early. A few have stated that this may be because Apple was planning to stock it in their retail stores (pre-pandemic) for an immediate pickup option or in-store purchase.
The other BTO options, like the i7/32GB/1TB I ordered, all had a minimum 2-week delivery time. I checked from very early the morning of the announcement and the soonest arrival date was always the 20th (I'm in the US). I'm glad that I was still able to get that date since I ordered later in the afternoon that same day. The times are now into June.
The i5 versions are shipping faster than the i7. Not sure if that means parts delays or something else, but the i7s seem to be coming a little later.

Anyone ordered from costco? I see on their site ship date is May 25th, seems kind of longer than the rest.
I did the same. Ordered a maxed out MBA and quickly canceled for this. Now I’mjust waiting!

finally got a delivery date from fedex. Hopefully it comes sooner than that but I can’t complain. Last location was the exit scan from Shanghai so if I get a change of date it’ll probably come when it gets to the US.
maybe it depends on destination location? Anything I order from Apple always comes from fedex, and they’re usually very quick and tend to deliver early in the day.

I’ve gotten MacBooks from either Or. Usually it’s fedex if it’s a base model and usually ups if it’s a BTO model in my experience. The base models seem to be shipped out by fedex from a facility near Rialto California as my past base model purchases suddenly appear there vs. my BTO or launch day ones seemTo be brought over by ups Straight from China.
Probably capacity and contractual agreements (i.e. they guarantee each carrier a minimum number of deliveries to get the best rates, and splitting orders between the two helps keep each of them honest). I notice that most of my Apple deliveries are through UPS, though whenever I return an item, I get a FedEx label.
Have they charged your card, yet? A friend of mine ordered the same color/config a day before you and his order is in transit with an ETA of May 13th.
Yes they have but seems like most earlier orders are shipping already, mine hasn’t changed yet, hopefully soon, I returned a 2019 MBP 13” that I had for only a week to order this one.
