There are social distancing rules businesses have to work around now, it's not an issue of hiring more people. There is more demand and more red tape to work around as the industry adapts.
Very true. I guess it’s to be expected with everything going on.

While I appreciate that, UPS is the only carrier that hasn't adjusted. Months later, they are still drowning. FedEx, Purolator, Canada Post, Canpar, etc., have all been doing fantastic jobs providing reliable service with occasional delays - to be expected. But UPS is just ridiculous. Surely by this point, they could have worked something out? If only to put less strain on their own system/employees!

Again, had Purolator Ground deliver a package that shipped on Tuesday from British Columbia, this afternoon to me in Ontario. FedEx managed to overnight a package to me from B.C. When there are delays, it's generally a day or two.

When UPS is the odd one out, I cannot help but wonder what the hell they're doing!

Do you know your regional distribution hub? Search to see if a flight will leave from ANC to that area overnight.

I can't post a link due to spam filter, but turns out you're right! UPS89 direct to the Ontario, CA distribution hub.
My tracking now shows "Departure scan" out of Anchorage--holding out hope for a Saturday delivery!

Still waiting on mine to ship. Ordered on Sunday, May 17 and the email said ships in 5-7 business days so hopefully it goes out tomorrow!

So UPS says it'll be here the 27th and Apple is now saying it'll be here on 28th. Clearly between the two of them, Apple and UPS can't find their proverbial ass with both hands.
UPS is more accurate. They update at each tracking point. Apple only updates if UPS tells them there is a delay or it is delivered. I got mine on the 7th. Apple was quoting me the 14th while my Mac was on the truck a block away from my condo.

I stepped away shortly after the UPS flight landed in Anchorage. I received the Departure Scan from Anchorage. I’ll probably see the Arrival scan in Louisville, but I won’t know what happens after that unless I wake up and check in the middle of the night.

Even if it doesn’t make it for Friday, I can’t see why there wouldn’t be a Tuesday delivery. I’ve had shipment from Louisville to my local facility just outside of Chicago make the trip in 4-5 hours from scan to scan. Not sure if UPS will deliver on Saturdays in this instance. They normally don’t unless it’s been specifically paid for or requested by the shipper.

Well I was scheduled for delivery tomorrow according to UPS but this morning UPS now shows delivery on Wednesday May 27th. Apple shows Thursday the 28th. Tracking shows it left Anchorage at 3pm today so delivery tomorrow is out. So much for my plans to play with my new baby!

I am located in the U.S. in Ohio.

There is still a chance if it lands in Louisville early AM, which it should given that it took off around 8:00pm EDT. If not, then you should have it Tuesday.

Random ups update again, looks like I’m officially not getting it. And their basic math skills are about as good as their delivery skills as it notes one business day delay but delivery is now rescheduled to Monday from Thursday.
This just makes no sense. Why on earth wouldn't you get your package when I got mine and we aren't that far from each other.

Since yesterday mine has been: Departed Facility in SHANGHAI - CHINA MAINLAND
Anybody knows how long it usually takes until the next stage (export scan?)

Louisville to OH is a short haul. Could go the remainder of the way by freight truck.

I’m holding out some hope after daily chats with Apple that mine may come from their distribution centre in Hinckley rather than China.

Looks like they might have gotten mine unloaded from the truck. Are they getting faster through the backlog, or did they have someone go find my package so I don't come back to bug them again this afternoon? haha... Anyways it's now showing it should be delivered today instead of Monday - fingers crossed...

Same (switched back to today). I have my doubts though.
Delivery also switched back to today (vs next Wednesday) but I’m also skeptical. It just landed at BWI this morning and I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a package go from there to my door in the same day.
