2020 MacBook Pro order status

Finally got my 10th gen i5 16/512 model yesterday... It has been a long journey

On April 30th, I received my 2019 refurb MBP 13, which was great except for the keyboard...

4 days later, the 2020 were announced so I ordered a 8th gen i5 16/512 MBP. I reveived it on May 15th and it died on May 16th (connected to power for the night, it shut down and never turned back on).

I returned it for credit, and ordered a 10th gen i5 16/512 from BestBuy (delays were shorter than Apple). Just before it got shipped, BB cancelled my order because billing address was not the same as shipping address... I had to reorder it and delivery was pushed back to June 4th.

Luckily, I did a quick check on BB website yesterday morning and my local BB had one in stock (exactly the model I wanted), so I reserved it and picked it up yesterday.

Been a week and haven’t been charged yet. If it arrives early I don’t think it will be before next weekend.
 
Sent a complaint into head office due to timescales given this was to replace damaged machine, got a call back from exec office and its being delivered tomorrow now.

My Scheduled Delivery changed back to Friday, May 22nd!!

If this hasn’t been some sci-fi action movie level craziness here... first the journey through Shanghai, followed by the escape from Osaka to Alaska!, then this package gets to Louisville and teleports to Chicago in 5 minutes! Now it’s at the local distribution facility getting loaded onto the delivery truck. I attached so you all can see the madness of their scans, lol.

If this keeps going to plan, I’ll see an Out for Delivery around 10 AM today, loading is slower now with social distancing rules, but they always get to me by 2pm

I’m keeping the faith for the rest us who were told the 27th... Let’s get our new MBPs TODAY!!

Bother. My delivery was previously scheduled to come this morning, it was at my local depot as of last night. Now delayed to an 'emergency situation or severe weather'. I guess they're out of drivers/van space today.

It's a bank holiday weekend in England, and I was really hoping to have a new toy. 😢 First world problems I know. Sounds like a wait til Tuesday now.

no kidding on the sci-fi level craziness...maybe UPS is just doing their part to keep us entertained while we’re all stuck at home!

I’m hoping I get the machine today so I can start learning to use all of the bulky manuscript writing/compiling programs my current computer is too limited for!!!

(also I just realized I completely missed the era of the butterfly keyboard, as my current machine is from early 2014. Go figure!)

Same here. I’m coming from a 2015. If I had known it was going to be 5+ years until my next upgrade I would have gotten a higher spec one.

UPDATE: It's currently in Dieppe, NB which is known as a black hole for mail for us east coast Canadians lol. It's saying "departed" as of 6am this morning though, and UPS is still saying it'll be delivered today.

I feel like a dog today looking out the window every time I hear a vehicle drive near my house. 😂

UPS Delivery Date: May 28th

Hopefully I get it this weekend or earlier than May 28th! Seems like everyone here got theirs delivered a lot earlier. Crossing my fingers!

Despite all this, it came about 30 minutes ago. Never showed as Out for Delivery.

But frankly I don't care. :D

Mine showed up on Wednesday the 20th. 7-10 days early. i5/16/256 silver.

It spent 3 days in Louisville waiting for a flight the Northern California. With airlines not flying much I guess they had to wait for a plane to have space.

Louisville is in EDT. That’s why the flight to Chicago takes “5 minutes.” :)

DHL tracking is the worst. No indicated delivery date, no info on what's happening really.

Latest status: Departed Facility in EAST CHINA AREA - CHINA MAINLAND. Would this mean it's on its way to Dubai?

Good luck. Hopefully you do get it today.
No such luck here. Still no updates on tracking. I'm at the point where I might just call Apple today. I will sound impatient but it's a little concerning to me when orders shipped later via UPS are getting delivered to us, but this one seems to have fallen into some void at Concord.

Holy cow, the saga continues. I’m one of the ones whose laptop was stuck in Osaka. Delivery got pushed from today to next Wednesday, and now back to today. I was still very skeptical about that but tracking now shows that, as of about half an hour ago, it’s less than two hours away from me. Seems I may just get to enjoy the laptop over the long weekend after all.

I missed the butterfly keyboard era as well. My last MBP was a 2013 15” rMBP that I sold prematurely with the intent of upgrading in 2018, but that didn’t work out. I had problems with 3 different MBPs for being too hot to use. So I gave up that year and decided to wait.
