So Mookie and Price are now dodgers. I'm happy to see Price gone, I never really was a fan, and the cost of him on the books was excessive. I can see why mgmt wanted to move on from Mookie, as they want to go into full rebuild mode.

With so much issues swirling around the red sox, this will probably be a year that people will look to move on from. The red sox are still waiting for MLB to drop the hammer on and I wouldn't be surprised if it was similar to Houston, though maybe less severe.
This is the Dombroski fallout. They can't dumb Sale, they got out of the last 2 years of Price, even though I think they are eating most of it. Mookie probably didn't want to sign in Boston and his price was going to be close to $400 million. The Red Sox really boxed themselves into a corner, plus they have the fines from MLB lurking in the shadows.

Without question, he sold the farm system and over paid for some talent. I'd say that move bought the Red Sox a World Series, but I think Alex Cora stealing signs is more likely why they won the world series :(

I was never a fan of David Price or the contract that the red sox offered him, he never endeared himself to the fans, quite the opposite, he frequently angered them.

My guess is that we'll see fines and some draft picks being taken away. The GM and manger are gone, so MLB won't punish the Red Sox with suspensions, though Cora is sure to be banned from baseball for a period of time

What will hurt the Red Sox are any loss of draft picks. They need to build up the farm desperately.

That's his MO. Destroys farm systems, overpaying for talent that will kill the team down the road, and since the farm system is non-existent, can't rebuild the team. Did the same thing to the Tigers.

I wonder if he will get a lifetime ban ?

It looks like Cora cheated in both Houston and Boston, Cora developed and participated in the Houston cheating system (still waiting on the Boston report), and it didn't look like Cora pled out.

Mookie and Price have been traded to the Dodgers.

Who knows what will happen this season in Boston with the fallout from the cheating scandal.

Boston only had Mookie for one more year guaranteed so they probably thought they should trade him since Boston is probably going nowhere this season.

Mookie will be missed :(.

I do think MLB needs to come down hard, and a lifetime ban will certainly wake people up. He was the architect in Houston and brought it to Boston. Even if its not a lifetime ban it needs to exceed a year, more so now that he's been fired. It needs to be painful

Just my two cents on the Mookie/Price trade:

The negatives: As a Sox fan my whole life, I have never seen a better home grown phenomenon come out of the organization than Mookie, I am certainly going to miss him. We also got a fairly poor return on investment. I get that Price was FAR too expensive, but I think Chaim is banking on Graetrol (or however you spell it) and Verdugo to be GREAT. What we have seen from them is limited and good at best.

The positives: All that being said...we can still get Mookie back next year. So that may not be a total loss. I also believe people are overstating Mookie’s contributions to the club. We had hI’m last year and did HORRIBLE. Last years contingency was the starting rotation.

I think the team will still be relevant. Yes, we dont have a manager still and spring training start soon, but hey I like a good underdog story, so this year will be fun at the least.

MLB is considering a significant restructuring of its playoff format, one which would begin with a dramatic live television show during which two teams from each league would have the ability to select their first-round opponents.

The proposed format, which has been gaining traction among owners and within the Commissioner’s Office, would see the total number of playoff teams in each league increase from five to seven, with the Wild Card round expanding from a one-game playoff to a best-of-three series. The new format could go into effect as early as the 2022 season.

I agree with this whole heartedly. He should be banned. Two teams, two cheating scandals! Yup, he should be done.

People are saying that both Hinch and Cora could be back coaching next year. So what did this suspension really accomplish. Now reports are saying that Beltran played a bigger role.

nbcsports is reporting that Cora warned the nats about the astro's cheating.

The Houston Astros' illegal sign-stealing methods were brought to the Washington Nationals' attention prior to the 2019 World Series, thanks to Alex Cora.

You just can't make this stuff up

Yikes. With the Sox where they are at, the Rays must be ecstatic.

Hope he recovers well, when he is heathy Im sure he will continue to dominate.
