2021 Formula 1 Season Thread

NASCAR Champion Kyle Larson to attend Abu Dhabi, and reportedly has a deal for a Test Session with a team after.

I‘m no NASCAR fan, but have a tremendous amount of respect for Larson’s ability to drive the wheels off anything.

I‘d love to seem him Test just for s**** and giggles. Watch this page…….

Good to see Toto getting caught. Feel bad for Lewis. Hopefully he wasn’t aware. Really tired of Toto.
 
Wow! Well that's the most expensive 'touch' Max will ever do!
And T T T Mercedes, need to follow those rules properly, I doubt they were cheating but you never know as they are losing, but not by much with 3 races left!
 
Well if it is dry tomorrow, easy podium for Lewis considering how dominant he was in the sprint.

And Soft tires are clearly the right choice to start tomorrow.

Softs worked well because it was colder, that will definitely not be the case tomorrow.

Lewis did a stellar job today.
 
Best sprint race we’ve had so far. But only because you can overtake at this track and Lewis started out of position.

Well done to Bottas for another pole. Still can’t see anyone but Max winning the drivers championship. Not unless he gets a dnf.
Lewis was the driver of the day for me. Another 10 laps and he’d have been on the podium. Hopefully more of the same later.

I’d like to dedicate this race to all the people across the internet who have been saying Lewis only wins because he’s only driven dominant cars and also that he’s nowhere near as good as Verstappen. Lewis ran out of talent recently and Mercedes lost the ability to make the best car on the grid this season in order to mask just how awful Hamilton is. It’s cool they managed it this race though and he was able to fluke his way back to the front

**I’m being totally facetious and venting at some of the tripe I read every time I open twitter, Facebook and just about any content that invites comments .

Amazing race, the fight is very real and Max gave it everything he had. Lewis’s ability to defy the odds after such a setback is stunning. And that Mercedes of today was unstoppable in the straight line and the braking as well.

Shame about the VSC advantage of Bottas, because we could’ve had more of a fight with Perez. Not saying Bot didn’t deserve P3, would’ve probably gotten it anyway.
 
AMG had the faster car - especially in the straights - but Lewis still drove a dominant sprint and main race to get through all the traffic and then motor off into the distance once he was in front.
 
Some questionable moves by Max, but IMO Mercedes have been questionable all weekend… failing DRS checks and a suspiciously incredibly fast car all of a sudden. I hope Max wins next weekend.
 
I also think fireworks being let off at the track purely because Lewis overtook Max was way over the top. For the race winner crossing the line sure, but for someone overtaking the leader? There just stupid. IMO.

Great race. Once again the stewards decided to let Max run another driver off the track and weave on the straight. Anyone else and they’d have had a penalty. Great racing all weekend from Lewis. But if he wins the remaining races and Max finishes second, Max will win the title. And some of those races suit RBR so I think it’s his title this year.

DRS issue was caused by damage. The speed from Mercedes is because Lewis had a new engine and the DRS was so powerful in Brazil.

I think the FIA decided not to interfere with the result which I like, but they certainly wouldn’t let any other driver get away with this. They admitted afterwards to making the decision without viewing either drivers onboard footage too!! Maybe if they’d done this they would not have been able to ignore it. Still, Lewis win the race and has he not, I think Mercedes would have been right to challenge that decision. Lewis avoided the contact well here I thought.

I still think Max will win it this season. The points advantage is too much and something would have to go seriously wrong. Then again he seems to take risks so you just never know. There’s also a new track and any driver could make an error. At least it’s an exciting end to the season and we are seeing some good racing.
