Luckily, the same superstitious idiots who believe a number somehow violates all known laws of physics and causes unfavorable events in their life should be easily manipulated by an ad campaign to help them getTF over it.

That's put sharply blunt but "number somehow violates all known laws of physics and causes unfavorable events" is spot on.
Numeric superstition would be strange if it wasn't so bizarre.

This will be the most boring iphone release in history. 2020+2021 covid19 pandamic plus the products are pretty mature and the market is saturated there is nothing really much to add, certainly not every 12 months we will see a new breakthrough.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, we should drop the consuming culture and having longer term upgrades when things are truly different and improved. On the videogames consoles side, they release the next generation every 5-7 years. Back in the 80s and 90s electronics lived a long time before you needed to make the next purchase. 12months upgrade cycle is nuts.

Can't blame Apple and other companies for flogging "new" models every year. The onus to reduce the consuming culture falls on the customers, but in our current shallow society, good luck with that.

they skipped iPhone 9.... so I don't see why they can't skip again... :)

my sister-in-law majored in hotel management. one of her research was on hotel room naming/numbering. IIRC, she said that more than 70% of U.S. hotels with 15 floors or higher did not have 13th floors. This was back in the early 1990s, so I don't know what the percentage is like these days.

“The ‌iPhone‌ 6S, for example, offered only minor improvements compared to the ‌iPhone‌ 6 a year earlier.”

Visually yes but inside the 6s was vastly superior to the 6, something like two thirds more powerful CPU/GPU and double the ram, Second gen touchID, 3D Touch and improved camera. The fact it’s been supported for so much longer than the 6 demonstrates just how much better it is in my opinion and the 6s to 7 leap was smaller.

And stronger series 7000 aluminium to stop the bending issues of the iphone 6.

Yay! The mini is so nice! I remember holding it at Best Buy when it first came out and thinking, “wow, this is a sleek, tight phone.” (Un)fortunately, I require the Pro Max for maximum productivity for what I do.

Because it will be a update to the 12, not a new generation. Pretty safe to say it will be called the 12S.
Nope. The 11 was nearly identical to the XR but it wasn’t called the XRs. The “s” cycle is over. They will increment by one number for the foreseeable future.

So the follow up to the iPhone 12 is to be called the iPhone 13 eh? Well, that really is remarkable. If I was a feeling frisky I'd place a bet that the one after the 13... will be the 14.

And if anyone is genuinely afraid of the number 13 (or any other number) they need to see medical help, as they're clearly completely nuts.

China: No
I struggle to believe that anyone has the necessary level of stupidly required to not buy a telephone because it has a number 13 on it. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of idiots in the world, but this would require a level of idiocy which would truly be off the scale.

Just don't do an in screen finger print sensor. I have an Oppo Find X2 Pro (or whatever its called) and it's the best phone I've ever used but.............. the in screen finger print sensor sucks. Face ID is fine, there is not need to go back to fingerprint sensors other than virtual signalling the mask wearers.
Wait, so because an in-display fingerprint scanner has been poorly implemented on a specific phone that's no reason for Apple to install one? I would imagine they would use an ultrasonic one, like found on the Samsung S21 series which is a vast improvement.

Not to forget, they fixed "bendgate" with the improved aluminium alloy. :p

I think they should call it the 2021 iPhone 12, just to mess with everyone. And then call the 2022 version the iPhone 13.

Do you know why 6 was afraid of 7?

In other news, the weather app will give temperatures in Fahrenheit and Celsius.

And there will be an Apple logo.

And the sun will rise in the east on release day.

Personally I couldn’t care less what it’ll be called, I’m just looking forward to upgrading from my 11 Pro.
