I didn't like how the Watson thing went down. They sign him to that (ridiculous) fully guaranteed contract, then structure it in a way to help him avoid heavy fines. That reeks of collusion. The league has to approve contracts and that one should never have been approved.
Wouldn't surprise me at all. There's rumors that the Texans facilitated those massage sessions for him.

It's always one set of rules for the elite--the guy is an elite QB--and one set of rules for plebs. A Trent Dilfer would never had such an opportunity. Watson was set to be one of the faces of the NFL before his skeletons escaped the closet. Remember Capt'n Kaep? Kaepernik's offense isn't as egregious, but because his limited talent, he never had a 2nd chance. The league is gonna bury the news if Watson plays at his previous level. They did it for Big Ben.

No question, but then that was indirectly his fault as well. He signed a massive contract extension and GB had less money to sign other talent.

I give Brady credit when he was at NE. He could have chosen to push for giant contracts, but he didn't. He kept signing team friendly contracts that allowed the patriots to keep improving the team
Agreed. I haven’t seen many other players do what Brady did.

Man, I guess the Bucs really are a mediocre team this year, going down to the Carolina Panthers 3-20. I was hoping Brady might have one more season left in him but a 3-4 record says otherwise. He should’ve stayed retired.

And the Chiefs scoring over 40 points at the Niners, I thought the Niner defense was better than that.

The Chiefs were still pizzed at the Buffalo game.

Carolina is probably the worst team in the league - who just traded their best player. TB (both Bay and Brady) looked brutal. I honestly believe Brady's personal issues mean his heart isn't into this season.

Agreed. His personal life is definitely affecting his play.

There's so much to say about this, and I can be snide (oh and I will), but on a serious note. I find it sad that a person chooses something so temporary over what should have been life long companionship to someone who absolutely adored him.

I've been through a divorce and when it happened, I was a walking zombie for what feels like forever, I literally sat staring at my computer in my cubicle at work. Not doing anything just sitting staring. So I can see why he's struggling, no matter the lip service he offers.

I don't pity him though. he had nothing to gain in coming back and as it now seems everything to lose.

Now the irreverent and funny :)

I wonder if he decided to come back after they both recognized that their marriage couldn't be saved.

In a weird sort of way, what else would he have? I mean football players always talk about having a sense of family with their teammates, so I can him coming back for another year just because of that. Trying to fill a hole that now exists.

We're on the outside, looking in, and we have no idea of there was trouble in paradise before he made the decision to return, so its impossible to know if un-retiring was the sole reason for marital discord, but I'm sure it was not helping matters.

My opinion is that he's hanging on too long and its only impacting his legacy, at least for the short term. Sometimes its better to stride off into the sunset

Ryan benched for the season in Indy for Sam Ehlinger, Mayfield and Darnold benched in Carolina for PJ Walker. Plus, Wilson playing like garbage.

I guess signing others' rejects hasn't worked out for anyone. Though Mariota hasn't been terrible.

I gotta believe this is it for him. End of the road.

I truely believe that he, as with the Falcons team proper never really recovered from blowing the 28-3 lead. He just wasn't the same since that SB

Much like Cam Newton wasn’t the same after losing Super Bowl 50 to the Broncos.

The end of Baker and Sam as starting QBs too. Career backups now.

Indeed, like blowing a lead so badly, not jumping on the ball in the SB when he should have just highlighted how it can mess up your mind

Interesting the way the Bears v Patriots game unfolded. The pats started with Mac Jones as QB and were quickly behind 10-0, then came back to 10-14 but didn’t score again up to the final score of 33-14. At some point Mac was substituted for Zappe, but it didn’t help the pats.

I suspect Mac will be back in, as Zappe gave an early spark, but then just collapsed. And the Bears aren't exactly the best team ever.

Fields played better against the Pats, probably better than he has played so far this season. Zappe may well end up being the starter by the end of the season. He will learn from his mistakes.

Meanwhile, the Broncos will be under an interim coach after they get through customs on Sunday night. With a bye week to make the transition, it seems like good timing. Hackett should catch on as OC with someone next season.

I don't think Zappe or Mac will be the Pats QB in 2023. With Josh a superstar, and Tua looking good so far (Zack - questionable), it will be an arms race in the AFC East and those two won't cut it. Plus, The Hoodie doesn't like turnovers.

Best job in the NFL. Long career and making a few million a year with no wear and tear on the body. :)

FoxSports is reporting that If the Broncos lose, Hackett will be gone. He has outkicked his coverage since the first game.

Hackett will probably be gone, but Russell should join him if he doesn't get his beep together.

I think Russel Wilson's better years are behind him. I don't recall, but I the last year or so, he wasn't exactly lighting the league on fire.
