So turns out the $150M the Packers invested in John Wick… errr, I mean Nicolas Cage… errr, sorry, I mean Aaron Rodgers were a clever choice after all.… not. Against the Vikings! 😂

Rodgers was terrible in the first game last season too. Ended up MVP.

OK I’m happy with the Bears performance today. Hoping it’s not a fluke. But also, it’s the Bears so I’m not getting them too high 🤣

I would love to see Baker just destroy the Browns.

While I want the Broncos to win, I don't really think either Wilson or the Seahawks treated the other as badly as the Browns treated Baker Mayfield.
Well, he didn't. :(

As for Wilson, all the commentators want to blame him. But what is Pete Carroll's record without him? Not very good.

And Trey Lance did not look up to it. 13-28 is not going to cut it in the NFL. I suspect Garrapolo will be back starting by Week 4.

That was another team, we're talking the Vikings here! It's clear they need to rebuild the team and it will take them a while. By the time they're done, Rodgers will be gone. So why waste that money on an old guy who hasn't won a SB in a decade and not even played in one since then? He can MVP all he wants, in this case he's a most valuable loser. All that counts is winning a SB which he can't do with this team unless we see many, many injuries in other teams.

One could say the same thing about Mahomes. One SB and since then way less than expected. The difference is the guy is young and they can take any time they want to come up with another winner team.

A lot of things have to go right to win a Super Bowl. I think too much win-loss is put on QBs. Football truly is a team game. But in Mahomes' case, he has 1 SB qnd 3 more AFC championship games in the 4 years he has started. I wouldn't worry about Mahomes.

Agreed. I don't understand what they think is wrong with Garrapolo. 2 NFC Champ games and a SB appearance. 20+ other teams in the league would take that any day and twice on Tuesday.

I mean, Lance has just begun his starting career (in a rain soaked game no less). So I can give him the benefit of the doubt. But you are right abut Jimmy G. He wasn't flashy or put up gaudy numbers, but he wins games.

I think the reactions in this YT are pretty accurate.

Overall, there's a few surprises, like Seattle, not just winning but Geno Smith looking pretty good. No one really gave Seattle any hope, and while they may not be super bowl contenders, I think its not as bad as the nay sayers have been harping (I'm not a seahawks fan, just observing what I see).

As a Bostonian, I'm going to say the dire predictions of the patriots are sadly true, and I think people are unwilling to keep giving Belichick a pass given his prior success. When you move a failed head coach who was questionable as a defense coordinator as OC with a young and impressionable QB, its not a good look.

Thought it was a surprise that the Steelers managed a win over the Bengals.

I think Bellichick should retire, the Patriots obviously have some rebuilding to do.

Belichick is going to be carried out of his office. He isn't leaving willingly.

You may be right. I certainly think its a lot to ask to draft another Brady-style quarterback in Mac Jones and expect him to carry the team. He doesn’t seem to have the pieces around him to deliver a great performance.

Agreed. Jones isn’t a bad QB, he heist needs some play makers around him.

Yes, their receivers have been terrible for a while. Edelman and Welker were slot guys, the last great true WR they had was Moss.

Absolutely. Look at where Brady went, a team with ready made receivers in Evans and Godwin (when healthy), and that combo was able to attract Gronk and AB to make a Superbowl-capable combo.

Belichick made the playoffs last year with a team built on smart running, but if thats all you can do you become one-dimensional and when you start playing the better teams you lose.

The Pats will be the 3rd team in the AFC East. Bill, Dolphins, Pats, Jets. Long gone are the days of the AFC East being a walk over for the Patriots.

The Dolphins could make some noise in the AFC this year. Bills, KC, Chargers...

Every year I hear how it’s the Chargers year.

I agree about he Chargers (they are the Dallas of the AFC), but they made some good additions to their roster this year. KC will still win the division, but the Chargers could make the playoffs.

This is the Bills best chance to win the Superbowl. Still not sure they will though.
