Free Agency can help a team get over the top, but a questionable way to build one, and not as successful except on paper.

The Vikings have finally ruled themselves out of the Aaron Rodgers Reverse Sweepstakes, thwarting his mission to emulate Brett Favre (except the swindling the government part, but it's still early).

So will he go to the Steelers, who have been waiting (except for one defensive player who made his feelings clear "I ain't doing that darkness retreat"), or retire? Or is the possibility of playing for both dysfunctional NY franchises real?

I really wish we'd update our OL ...
Like the Texans who traded away their best linesman, Tunsil? I worry for Stroud's health next year.😬

Tunsil and Deebo? The Commanders are making full use of Daniels' rookie contract to make a run for the ring. I want to see what other big talent they'll a buy while they're getting a deep discount at QB1.

EW Pats QB got signed with NINERS!!! He’s not as good unlike PURDY even though they are friends!

With his reworked contract, Deebo has one year to prove that last season was not a fluke, and show he's not past his peak. Also not exactly a great team player when he's upset.

QB is usually the highest paid player on the team (though other positions are rising to crazy levels as well). Hitting on a good, young, but more importantly, cheap QB, allows upgrades to the other parts of the team. Easier said than done.

Purdy's getting paid in San Francisco, so their offseason has been about a salary purge and mostly sitting out the free agent market.

It's going to interesting to see how the Bengals will protect Burrow this year with half their cap going to QB WR1 WR2.

Especially for a guy with an injury history. He was getting hit a lot when the Bengals were in the thick of things, and hasn't gotten any younger.

After all the hype surrounding Sanders--probable 1st Rounder, 2nd QB picked--he ended up an anticlimactic 5th rounder. Someone is going to play with a huge chip on his shoulder.
IMHO the round you get drafted means nothing other than one team might have found a gem and 31 didn't. But you're not wrong, I'm sure he's going to let this fuel him for a while.

Not even Aaron Rodgers suffered the same degree of ignominy and look how he turned out. As a person. ;)

It should reveal what kind of parenting skills Prime Time had.

There's been so many reports that he acts incredibly entitled, and arrogant. The fact that when you draft him, you're more then likely drafting Deon, because any coaching that will occur will be told to Deon who may disagree.

To put it another way, you may have a young quarterback who isn't all that coachable, he's never had a coach, other then his father. Reports him acting arrogant, entitled unwilling to do what the teams asked during the interview speaks volumes of how he'll be in the clubhouse.

With that said, I think him landing with the browns is one of the best places for him to learn and grow. They have a good team, and if he's wiling to show the nay sayers wrong, and put work into his craft he could be a very good player.

One thing I'm curious about is, what will his agent (his dad) push for a rookie contract. Being drafted in the 5th round, the amount of money he'll get probably get is sub 5 million. I know the NFL restricts rookie contracts to a great degree, but it may be interesting to see this play itself out.

To be fair, the NFL restricts its rookie contract almost entirely. It’s the reason no one really holds out anymore as a rookie. There is no point. There is offset language and like one other clause and that’s about it. It’s probably the reason Deion felt comfortable being his son’s agent. And, yes, it will probably be less than the rumored $6 million Shedeur got just last year.

I knew there were some restrictions, I just don't know how much. I remember Joey Bosa held out on the Chargers for a month or so. In all honesty I can see something along the lines with Shedur given his arrogance, and his father's arrogance.
Agreed...guess we will have to see.
