Yeah, it's called "commissioner's exempt" list. Leaving aside this kind of emperor-like powers of Roger Goodell for a moment, the case is a little more grey than some of you think. I'm not dismissing the seriousness of the charges, but this person was employed as a chef, living at the boss's domicile, there was a disagreement on if the employee would be paid during the bye week when the boss would not be home (travelling to Disneyworld with the kids possibly). The beef about the back-pay continued. The boss refused upon return. Employee alleges the altercation took place. Boss denies it. Employee visited the police two weeks after the incident. Claimed injury but could not document any apparent injury. Boss insists this is a dispute about money, only. This all could be (could be!) a mere shakedown of a high-net worth individual. Talks apparently continue about a cash settlement. You don't have to be a cynic just watch the ads on cable tv to see the lawyers who advertise their services. "Have you been injured on the job!!" "Call me, you could be looking at a large payout." "Here at Shyster and Flywheel, we've won awards of over 200 million"
There are dozens of these ads from many law firms.
I believe there's reason to believe it's not as simple as oh-oh, he did it.
