Harbaugh's probably going to NYG since they already have a potential franchise QB, a solid, gung-ho RB and a true alpha WR already in place, but I wouldn't mind him going to ATL. Similar-ish setup with a much more elite RB but minus the QB.

I still think there's a small hope for Penix, but especially after the injury, it's looking less and less like he could be the man. If he can be ready in time for at latest Game 3 of next season, I'd say give him one more season under center just to make sure. ATL doesn't have a 1st round pick this summer anyway so they're not drafting their next franchise QB any time soon.

Stating the obvious here, but Jerry the owner needs to fire Jerry the GM.😚 The Cowboys could have been the dynasty of the 90's if Jerry had just sit back and let Jimmy run the football side of things.
I'm soooooo happy that didn't happen. Them winning 3 is dynasty enough for me.

Coaching trees can tell you a lot. A lot about how the HC or organization can spot and encourage development.

NFL Coaching Trees

...

One knock against BB that some harbor is that despite his record, they question what he did to change the game, or the type of mark he left behind in the sport.

I think he gets a HC job, but if he doesn’t, he will be the Commie’s OC. He is VERY close with Dan Quinn.

DC would also reunite him with some of his ex-SF colleagues. Could be fun if Daniels can stay healthy.

You don't need to change the game or be innovative to be considered great. You just have to look at his successes. As Parcells said, you're only as good as your record and with 6 super bowl rings as a HC. There's no denying his greatness.

Chuck Noll, didn't do anything revolutionary, the steelers just brute forced their wins

What about Vince Lombardi? I believe he stated this "Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence" I'm not saying BB is on the same level as Lombardi, just pointing out head coaches that are considered great but did not invent any new features, but they each set up a system that created a dynasty

IMHO BB is the best of all time. Period.

Brady too...

I can't agree with Brady being the best of all time.

Best for his era, sure. But it is utter nonsense to attempt to compare him with QBs in the 60s - 70s who had to deal with different rules and an entirely different dimension of physical punishment while Tom got flags anytime anyone gave him a love tap. Even through the 80s defenders were allowed a shot on the QB if within a step. Now they can't land on the QB with their full weight.

Tom Brady never had to deal with this:

Apparently Mel Blount did the same to Cliff Branch, but given the overall level of violence that the Raider played with at that time, its not unwarranted.

The entire modern passing game is marshmellow soft compared to what defensive backs could do prior to the Mel Blount rule. WRs were regularly exposed to head shots after catching the ball. DBs could bump until the ball was thrown.

Yer not wrong by any stretch and it is definitely subjective.

I don't think we can say BB was the best without Brady, and I don't think we can say Brady if we exclude BB.

The stars aligned in such a way that Brady fell into BB's lap at the perfect time, and Brady was the perfect type of obsessive QB who had a chip on his shoulder who had to keep proving his worth. Additionally, he self sacrificed his salary for the betterment off the team.

Look at Mahomes, and his salary cap hit next year, there's no way for the chiefs to rebuild when they're 40 million dollars over the cap

In short, there would be no BB talk if there's no brady, and vice versa.

To your point, Mike McD was doing all kinds of crazy revolutionary stuff with the passing game orbit motion/split motion stuff and then this year with the running game. Literally every team stole concepts from Miami. How much did all of that revolutionary game-changing stuff help Mike keep his job?

I'm not sold on him getting another HC gig, at least not in 2026. There's been a number of reports where the players down right didn't respect him, and took advantage of his laid back hands off approach.

As an OC, I think he'll be excellent
I think that is true, and it does appear that the rumors of HC interviews were drummed up by his agent.

He should go to the Lions. Dan could be the bad cop for him and he would be great with the personnel there.

I always thought he was a great passer in college and could be in the pro game.
Yeah, he could sling it pretty good at UW. It looks to me like he's playing a little "tight" in the NFL. Maybe he's being too careful(like Trevor Lawrence until this season) or hasn't quite digested the entire playbook, or the game simply hasn't slowed down yet for him. He's only been the starter since Game 16 of last season so I'd say at least one more season under center to show what he's got would be more than fair...unless he's still hobbled by his knee injury for part/some/all of next season. If that's the case the Falcons would have tough decisions to make going to into the '26-'27 offseason.

Penix has had three ACL surgeries (two left one right) on his knees shoulder surgery and broken clavicle. He is ‘only’ going into his 26 year old season, if he can make it back. I strongly doubt he will turn the corner like Trevor Lawrence. Chuck Wepner aka the Bayonne Bleeder is the more appropriate comp.
