McCarthy was an above average coach. But that was a long time ago, and in a time when teams are going with youth, hiring an older guy is out of character, especially for the Steelers. Still, it will interesting to see what he can do without Jerry breathing down his neck. That alone should help his chances for success.

Are the Bills thinking Philip Rivers might be the next Jim Harbaugh? The latter at least proved himself as a coach at the college level, so I kind of question the thinking there.

I always thought Stephen A. Smith was some sort of joke ESPN was playing on sports fans. His old partner Skip Bayless is another one in that class. Even a broken clock is right a couple times a day.

I've lost all respect for Smith. Never cared for Bayless to begin with.

What is going on with Rivers and the Bills? This is the first I've heard of it.. Okay I found a few articles...

"please kick that FG, 4 and 1 is too risky,
please kick that FG 10-0 is a good thing!
please kick that FG, weather gettin' nasty!
please kick that FG!
please kick that FG!"

nope

what a 'huh" game, nothing anyone could do after the half tho.
if they ran, if they threw, if they kicked straight
if woody went to the police....

aah, great year for the Broncos tho
Pats might get destroyed in 2 weeks.
but I wish them luck!

Well, it came down to two QB and several coaching mistakes. The weather did help the Broncos. Maye was not a factor in this game, other than running the ball. Could have been much worse and nowhere near as close.

Phew, that was too close. Bad play calling by Seattle in the last drive. Should have been 20-31. Woolen is the next AB, they need to get rid of him.

Interesting game, Patriots offense continues to sputter but perform just when they need too. Their defense is what has been carrying them. Looks like the Seahawks opened up as the favorite by 4.5 points.

The question is, can the patriots defense pressure Sam Darnold so much, that he reverts back to his Jets days? I have no idea of the seahawks, how their offense or defense is. One thing is for sure, we'll be seeing comparisons to Super Bowl XLIX ad nauseam

Patriots are absolutely on fire and Drake Maye is having an MVP season.

Facts are facts. The Patriots and Drake Maye faced the toughest path to the Super Bowl in playoff history beating three of the NFL's top five defenses to get to the Super Bowl: (1) Texans, (2) Broncos, and (5) Chargers. They are doing something right in New England.

It is like how people hate on SB53 (13-3 over Rams) - it was a defensive battle, and that singular drive where Brady ran the same exact play three times in a row and chose different options each time was the difference. High scoring does NOT equal better.

Well I'm glad that is over. My daughter is crushed that her Broncos got SO CLOSE but no cigar; I told her they did the best they could have with what they were working with. Would Bo Nix have won the game for them? Possibly, but we'll never know and they weren't just fighting NE...that WEATHER had a lot to do with the outcome. I don't know how ANYONE could play in those conditions!

I'm rooting for the Seahawks in the SB. No sour grapes, I was a Seahawk fan before my Oregon boys became starting quarterbacks. (PNW team and all ). Just hoping for a good game in a couple weeks.

Doubtful it will be a defensive battle. The Seahawks will be the first functional offense the Patriots face during the post season. With the Chargers it was a non-existent O-line. With the Texans, a QB who went full derp (2x in 2 weeks), With the Broncos, a below average QB2. We saw how Stidham played when he was in New England.😑 Weather kept the game close as it dropped Maye's game to near Stidham level.😖

I don't see the SB being a defensive battle. The weather shouldn't be a factor, so Maye should be close to regular season form. Hopefully. Seattle's Offense is loaded with play makers. So as long as Darnold doesn't turn into a pumpkin, (he hasn't yet, knock on my mother-in-law's head🤭) it should be a fairly high scoring game. The losers scoring in the 20's.
