Bill Belicheck not getting first ballot HoF is like Michael Jordan or Wayne Gretzky not getting into the NBA or NHL HoF. It means as Jimmy Johnson that NO COACH belongs in the HoF. Period.

First ballot status is a hobgoblin of small minds. The hyperbole and hypocrisy around this is ridiculous.

Getting in is the goal, not the arrogance of claiming first ballot, or unanimous.

Belichick spent decades being a smug douchebag to the sports media. And now the representatives of same don't let him in the first time.

I am shocked, utter shocked that this could have happened.

This was sooooooooooooooooooooo predictable. On a scale of 1 to 10 predictable, its about 3,455,045.

Not to be too morose but it would be nice if Belichick (73) and Kraft (84) get into the hall during their lifetime. Sour grapes and pettiness from the detractors aside, everyone believes both belong in the hall and both deserve to see it in their lifetime. If that does not happen, than it will be people with the "small minds" to blame.

The Hall of Fame released a statement regarding BB's snub. It sounds like they're prepared to scapegoat some members if fans are ready to riot. If things blow over, they'll say they found no foul play. If they find some scapegoats, BB will definitely get in next year. They don't want a repeat of this year. They're testing boundaries, methinks. If this blows over, BB might have to wait until his final year of eligibility.🤫 Grudges die hard.🙈🙉🙊

BB not being voted in has more to do with the limitations on voters than on his alleged cheating. One voter explained that he used his three votes on veteran players who might slip off the ballot if not elected, and he figured BB would still be on it for several more years.

An investigation is definitely in order for the "integrity of the sport" whatever of that is left. They should also look into the betting markets like DraftKings, FanDuel, Caesars, PolyMarket to determine if there was unusual activity and who exactly benefited. The selection committee if comprised of plenty of lowlife sport writers and others who would sell their mother down the river for a buck.

LOL,
you seem upset

The funny part is, at the end of the day, it doesn't matter. These people, players and coaches are rich, some beyond belief, and yet you're so upseet that an old man failed to get into a club. The only way he get into the HOF is by paying admission

Bottom line, he fails to get in, I still have to wake up and go to work. He gets in, I still have to wake up and go to work

This has nothing to do with the integrity of the game, its a club reserved by those who think they're the best. It has zero bearing on the game.

Preserving the "integrity of the game" was the reason a fine was issued in Spygate. Same issue here with respect to the Hall of Fame. Here, it's the integrity of the hall.

Upset? Only to the extend that I do not like to see unfairness ... but I agree, it happens everyday and fairness, at the end of the day, is an abstraction and life does go on.

What does matter? The rings. No offense but what a beautiful picture. A Hall of Fame quality picture. IMHO. No offense intended.

Agreed, this has nothing to do with the integrity of the game, and I personally couldn't care less about the integrity of the HOF

Its always been a popularity contest to get in. There's so many players in the HOF where you someone can make an argument that they don't deserve that recognition. Likewise there's players who rightfully deserve the HOF but were never voted in.

This isn't some high holy sanctum of revered players, it boils down to popularity.

I believe Kraft is a finalist, and it seems everyone is saying that BB will definitely go in next year, though nothing is guaranteed.

That's the bigger problem. Owners in the HoF? That probably chaps BB's hide most at the moment.

Baseball has the same problem. Bud Selig enshrined with the great players and managers of the game? LOL. But at least he served as (a chitty) commissioner and went beyond that.

Some entertaining (or not, depending on your loyalties) fodder in the lull before the SB.

But for much of the football world, and world at large:

Raiders are expected to hire Seahawk's OC Klint Kubiak after the super bow, so looks like they have their man.

I think this is a decent hire, they opted not to go for a "super star" swing for the fences, like they tried with Carroll. I think they idea is to build the team from the ground up, get Mendoza, they need a lot of help to fix their O line, if they want to keep Medoza healthy.

In years past, teams would draft a star QB, and let him ride the bench for a year or two to learn the game and that also gives them more time plug the holes. That won't be happening, so its goig to be rough sledding for the hesiman award winner.

The NFL inks a deal to play games in Madrid spain. Looks like the league going full force to play internationally.

What are people's thoughts on this?

My take is, that I've not seen a single game that's been played outside of the US - not due to any philosophical reasons, but rather the time of the games fall outside of my availability or desire to watch at that time. So the NFL risks losing domestic viewership as it tries to grow internationally.

I think what is going to happen in the long run is there will be an 18th game added, another preseason game will be removed, another bye week will be added, and the Superbowl will be bumped a week, where there is a holiday the day after anyway.

The extra bye week will allow Thursday games to only feature teams that are coming off a bye week, and could help with international travel as well.

Otherwise, I don't think they will get the buy-in required from the Union.

I'm excited about this, now we need to let him just work and not expect a Super Bowl in year 1 or year 2 and playoffs in maybe year 3 if not playoffs at least "in the hunt" would be nice

Is this going to reduce the number of London games, or will it increase the total number of games in Europe?

No. That's wrong. They absolutely WILL increase non-USA games.
Two weeks ago:

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft spoke confidently in an interview Tuesday about the NFL expanding to an 18-game schedule and having each team play one international game per season.

Kraft isn't just in the majority among owners, he's in sync with broadcasters, advertisers and licensing companies. The NFL is hell-bent on world supremacy. They've already conquered America.

That, as well as working in harmony with the GM, not being subservient to him, or the ownership. Cough, Cowboys, cough.

The recent ESPN piece on the controversial choice of the SB halftime performer made clear the league's ambitions, and how they guided that choice.

I wonder how much of a price bump the Seahawks will fetch in their sale if they win the game. Sell high, indeed.
