They don't do that though.

They stopped the Brickyard 400 this weekend because of rain in just one end, turns one and two, of the track.

It took about 30 minutes or so to dry. they just kept looping in turns one and two and then down into the pit lane and back out again.

They do have better "drying trucks" than F1 it seems.
No. They don't race in the rain. At all.

I have seen them use the jet dryers to get most of the water off the track and then bring out the field under caution and just do laps so the heat from the cars helps dry the track as well.
Indy is a super speedway and not representative of all tracks. On short tracks (ovals) and road courses they do run in the rain nowadays.

Max is too scared of his dad... Merc could find $1b in 30 seconds, but they don't want his dad... The deal would be for Max, and not Max and Mad Dad..

Max has confirmed he’ll stay with RBR for 2026. Not surprised as Mercedes won’t want to pay his release clause

He also told SKY News he will stay with them for 2027, but I expect that will depend on how good things are next year.

Alonso is sitting out FP1 in Hungary as he has injured his back so Felipe Drugovich finally gets some race weekend time in the car.

And speaking of Aston Martin F1, Aston Martin Lagonda Global Holdings Plc (the car company) has sold their shares in the team for USD 146 million. Extrapolating the value of the other shares, this values the team at USD 3.2 billion.

FP2

Aston Martin reverted to their old floor and it seems to have helped, at least for this session.
Max was absolutely nowhere. The simulator team at Milton-Keynes is going to be putting in long hours tonight.

Going into qualifying, it looks like Milton Keynes was able to do nothing for Max and Yuki and Liam and Isack also tumbled down from FP2. Chuffed to see Ferrari 3rd and 4th, but I know better than to go into Qualifying with hope in my heart. And Aston still looking strong, but they often flatter in FP and then collapse in Quali.

What a Q3 from Charles!! Well done. Lewis needs to do some inner reflection…

I didn’t see anything from Max that makes me think he is trying. Something is up…..

I wonder if Lewis has realized that maybe age is a problem... One of the Ferrari's is on pole and the other, might as well be in a crate.. His in a crate.. "I am useless.." Not exactly useless, but not quite as what?? Maybe there should be a cut off, we have F2/F3 for a reason..

Sad to see, but I question why did he go to Ferrari? Maybe the team was sending messages.. "We will get back to you.." was code for retire??

Sad to see, but I question why did he go to Ferrari?

1) It's been a dream of his to drive for the Scuderia.
2) He knew Toto was going to kick him to the curb for Antonelli in 2026 so Ferrari offering him a seat in 2025 was the opportunity for him to fulfill #1 while he still had strong cachet in the driver market.

Max knows he has no shot at the WDC and the team knows they have no shot at the CC, so I am wondering if they are trying to make the car more neutral-handling to improve both driver's chances of getting into the points lest Red Bull fall to 4th or even 5th in the CC if they continue to focus on Max.

They clearly did not get the setup right for the track this weekend and I honestly could see Max fall backwards if it is a dry race.

Aston Martin, on the other hand, seem to have found something for this weekend. I know they were swapping between the new floor and the old one and I believe both drivers settled on the old floor. They also modified the chord of the front wing to add more load (itself an improvement to the front and rear wing changes instituted at Spa).

That's plausible....

I am quite old now, had a long "career" and in that career did many stupid crazy things, but now at where I am in the age count, I am not wanting to do the crazy, that is for the youngsters to enjoy, just let me do my little job that I love..

Lewis has to come to the realization after scratching himself bald that yeah age sucks and being almost in the range of an F1 pension has some downsides, one of which is risk tolerance.. He might not be aware of it, but is his 100% less than say a 18 yr old's 100%?

Is Lewis going to commit to a corner at 336kph or maybe 329kph? Maybe he is a tenth slower in reaction than a decade ago..Maybe not have the same pressure on the brake pedal, or maybe has the age aches n pains as his fellow pensioner Alonso suffers from??

In cricket we have test cricket, 5 days, then for the aged players, T20, so they can rest after a short game.. They cannot handle 5 days, 450+ overs, but can handle 20 overs...

Lewis maybe could do Sprints, short fast racing, but it is very limited, 20 laps instead of 70+ laps???

We have WEC for the old men/women of the sport, 24 hour no more than x hours per stint, and Y stints per event.. There are other formula, other series that would suit older drivers, where they can still be relevant and make an impact...

I so want to see Lewis/Alonso, others in WEC, doing well at Lemons 24.. Don't destroy a legacy chasing a false dream in F1.. Don't do a Schumacher... He should have left after his last title win... Maybe 2021 should have been Lewis's last season...

I love F1, I want more than anything to have 20+ races that you have no idea who is going to win, 3/4/5 drivers, 18-30'ish, that all have a fair and equal chance of winning, where it is not a parade of pensioners..

I'm not sure there will be much to show on the highlights but the commentators and live timing made today's race a quite an interesting tactical battle.

It seemed Ferrari switched tyres far too early trying to prevent the undercut, although I imagine CL wouldn't have been better than 3rd anyway.
And Lando Noris was lucky to take the strategy he used, but drove really well to make it work out.

I thought Charles LeClerc was the Ferrari golden boy? But wow, they sold him dud goods.. Lewis was thinking he was useless, but actually it was the team.. There is a lot going on in many of the teams..

What this race suffered from is "too short" for the modern 2026 era.. We needed this race to be 90 laps, instead of 70, on fuel plenty of milage left, and it would have made for an interesting finish...

But we cannot have nice things, F1 is for the weak and pathetic now.. F1 is no longer about the best, maybe the best of the worst of the bunch.. F1 is basically T20 of cricket.. A short game that is basically a farce...

F1 needs to grow a pair in the panties dept, stop being stupid.. Be useful. 25% longer Sunday races..
