Bobsleigh has an interesting history. Supposedly from the Swiss delivery boy sleds, as a winter recreation for tourists. I didn't realize about athlete's brain trauma possibility, the sport needs to address that.
Have you ever seen Cool Runnings? I'm not surprised about the brain trauma. You have the sharp turns away, but if the sled tips over and your head is scraping on the ice, I would say that would be awful (No experience though).

Women's short program in figure skating - wow the competition was fierce and the top are pretty close. Current standings going into the long program tomorrow are: Ami Nakai JPN (78.71), Kaori Sakamoto JPN (77.23), Alysa Liu USA (76.59). There were so many good presentations, plus some disappointments. Happy to see Adeliia Petrosian do well given some issues I won't mention, sad Isabeau Levitio didn't score higher despite her interesting 30s inspired ballet type skate and felt bad for the Amber Glenn. One skater from the UK had spina issues and could not spin - very courageous for ehr last Olympics. We will see Thursday for the long program. Hockey is Canada vs. Czechia and Switzerland vs. Finland for men as well as what @Lioness~ mentions Sweden vs. USA. That will be cool.

Also, Snoop Dog at the figure skating competition???? Well at the Olympics? that was a real WTF moment plus he appeared on now retired skater (and 2015 world Champion) Elizaveta Tuktamysheva's Instagram account. 🤣🤣🤣

LOL

Also, Snoop Dog at the figure skating competition
I like Snoop Dogg and his music, but I think NBC is leaning on him to try to draw in audiences when their coverage seems to fall short. I've been watching the events that have been broadcast on the USA network, as it seems largely without the fluff and distractions then on the main NBC channel. Plus the USA channel has been showing the sports I'm interested in, so that's been helpful

USA and Peacock seems to go full bore on the actual events. The Primetime in Milan is designed just to be a show and basically a recap of the days events. Everything else has actually shown how improved the NBC Networks have become at televising this. I appreciate more altnerative options. I remember in Vancouver I was so mad everything was tape delayed despite actually living on the West Coast. We've come along way since then.

Checked the alpine branches a bit - Mikaela Shiffrin is fairly superior at the moment, for the Gold(s).
Our girls got some other medals. D###, I was tired 😴

The Team Sprint, cross-country skiing, women and men, I'll 'speed-watch' some later.
Checking-out a bit from Olympics to watch the Women's Champions Leauge quater final's live.

I subscribe to Peacock when the Olympics are on. I don't ever have to sit through non-sports content if I don't want to, plus, if I don't like the NBC commentators for an event, I watch the "world feed" provided by the IOC's broadcasting arm (OBS). Nick Fellows (alpine skiing) is particularly good.

I also like streaming replays if I want to fast-forward through pauses in the action or see medal ceremonies.

Saw most of our hockey guys match 🇸🇪 - 🇺🇸 1-2
Goes to sudden, and our guys lost, no medals 😢

Our hockey pride now rely on the girls, hope they can win a 🥉🤞🏼

The drone shots are pretty cool. Somebody says Alberto "La Bomba" Tomba is in town, don't see him on NBC?

Vonn, predictably crashed. Good luck with the recovery.

Not much face time for Shawn White, am guessing no good half pipe U.S. competitors.

Nothing noteworthy this year, no Jamaican Bobsledders, no Eddy the Eagle.

Say why do the 2-men Bobsledds pilots got fat guts?

I was in Salt Lake a couple of years after the 2002 olympic and went up to top of the ski jump, cool, was told they open the bobsledd run for tourists some days for a fee.

USA! USA!

Sweet deke and backhand goal 4 minutes into OT by Megan Keller for the win. Sent there by Hilary Knight with an admittedly lucky redirect goal to equalize with 2 minutes left in regular time. Tough loss for a great Canadian team.

Peacock is the way to go if you really want to focus on a particular event. We barely touch it normally, but for the Olympics it has been clutch

A great day for he US when it comes to skating: our hockey team and Alysa Liu!!! I am very pleased that Alysa won the gold medal in the women's long skate four-minute program. Alysa looked joyous and skated with amazing technical skills and energy, giving it her all, and it was spectacular. Wow!

This is the first time in 24 years that an American woman has won the gold medal in figure skating, which makes this all the more special. The US is smiling right along with Alysa.....

Norway has been outstanding ‼️
My all time favourite, Swedes included, Marit Bjørgen is assistand coach for Norway today.
Just wait until she's head coach 🤩
We've 🇸🇪 had some misses, except in Women's Cross-Country Skiing - they were really great.

I just had to post the real GOAT of the games:

Was stunned by the hockey game, good job by the US team. Alysa Liu deserves all the credit for the gold and I must put in a word for Kaori Sakamoto for her consistent performances over 3 Olympics and World Championships each (3 silver and 3 gold) and wish her the best on her retirement from competition.
