Ikea desks are awesome! I have a Jonas L-Shaped desk, same colour, and it's super sturdy with lots of space. If I remember correctly, I think I picked it up on sale for a little over $100.

Anyway, random question - when Apple releases the next wave of desktops, do you think they'll upgrade the wired/wireless keyboard to black chicklet keys? I find that the white keys clash with the screen bezel and MB/MBP keyboard. More importantly, white keys get dirty way too easily.

These set ups have me salivating. I guess I'll have to wait until some 24" ACDs start hitting the refurb store. :p

I have no idea about the keyboard situation but it would be nice to see black aluminum keyboard options.

And yea I agree with ya, I cant wait to put a Nehalem desktop on top of this huge desk! :p

Just got my 24".. figured I'd share the setup..

This monitor will go back because it has dead pixels, but I'm definitely sold on the cinema display.. it is the most beautiful display I've ever seen or used.

This thread tempts me more and more every day to spring for the LED LCD. Except I just don't need it.... sigh.

This might be a silly question, but how do you switch the macbook on and off whilist under the Laptuk stand, do you have to disconnect all the cables and lift out the macbook to open it and switch the macbook on ?

I have the old 13.3 black macbook, would this stand fit ?

thanks
RK

Yes, the stand would work for your MacBook. As for turning it on and off, you can use the Apple menu/keyboard shortcut to turn the computer off. As for turning it on, yes you must pul the laptop out from under the stand.

I allow my computer to sleep and I restart when needed (i.e. updates). I do not see a reason to shutdown the laptop for normal use.

C'mon.. you know you want to!! Do it!! I''ll guarantee you 100% it'll be one of the best things you've ever done!! :D

I do, I do. I'm so tempted to do it. It's horrible. I know I'm going to cave sooner or later... but I already have a 23" ACD.

^ Maybe his MBP doesn't have the new Mini DP port? Not sure if I'm right or wrong, so please don't take any offense.

None taken. I have a revB MBA, which makes it even more perfect: USB hub, speakers, integrated power... even my superdrive works with the hub in the monitor. I could leave all my peripherals in all the time, and I have the BT MM and KB... and the MBA has quickly become my primary. I haven't really touched my MBP since I got it. It could be so perfect...

I like it but if I may make a suggestion, it would look cleaner with a bit of wire management :D

Totally agree +1 +1 :D

... but this is at my gf´s place and we are moving in new house within a couple of days,... so i have been to lazy to get this "wire-thang" done,....

Also the desk will be replaced by a wooden one,... i for myself hate "glass - tables" they just feel to cold to my arm,.. .... btw, i am super-picky with cable management, if you where in my living room you could hardly tell how in the world got he gets his gadget powered up,... :D :D:D

EDIT: duh! neverminds, just realized that there was a third page that already had the answer to my question.....

OMG well this thread is amazing, i am so tempted to buy this now! I am kinda split betwen a 24" ACD or the new g skill 256gb SSD, but i might just have to wait a little on the SSD. I feel like the SSD will go down over the next few months, but this OBVIOUSLY wont, this is apple we are talking about. However, i will probably get more bang for my buck with the SSD, as my performance should go up considerably. And it is 300 dollars cheaper considering i can get a 100 dollar discount of the ACD because im a student.
I DONT KNWO WHAT TO DO!!!

This is what i currently have, a 20-something inch Olevia Tv that was a hand me down from my parents bathroom. Not the best picture quality... However, maybe yall can shed some light on what yall would do in my situation, go with a MUCH better monitor or go with MUCH better performance...Or would i even get that much of a performance boost from the SSD?

Anyways, any input would be appreciated...
