Awesome pics guys. Keep them coming. I really want that display, it is just so hard to justify the cost. Plus I have to convince my wife to allow me to buy it - jeez that is a task worthy of the almighty. Anyway, I love the pics - hope to share my own someday.

it was easy to justify for me..:D
-refurb or used cost is around $500-$600
-comes with power for my macbook pro ($80 bucks at apple.)
-the other 24 inch IPS panel option i was considering was the $600 dell U2410, and its not LED backlit

the only thing i dont like about the cinema display is that its mini-displayport only. but its only used for my macbook pro so i cant really complain.

I hear you. To be honest, justifying it in my mind is really easy, convincing my wife is another story. I think I can justify purchases in my mind all to easy. The wife tends to keep me grounded when it comes to tech purchases. I love tech and just about everything apple. :)

Girlfriend bought it for me for Christmas. I, personally, couldn't justify the cost, but thats why she's the best.

What I think is really interesting is that most people with the new ACD are not using a 2nd display instead preferring their laptop screens. I have a 24" iMac at the moment with a 22" LG external monitor and am thinking of upgrading to a 17" MBP and 24" ACD.

Looks exactly like my current setup! I used to have a 20" aluminum iMac that I purchased in summer 2008 and found that I missed the portability of a laptop, so I sold it after about a year and bought a refurbished 13" MBP along with a refurbished 24" Apple cinema display. What an upgrade! I picked up a wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse, and now it's as if I have a 24" iMac. Additionally, I can disconnect my MBP, throw it in my bag if I feel like getting out of the apartment to do work or study. I can't ever see myself purchasing a stand alone desktop again.

I recently did the same thing, and bought a MBP a few weeks ago. I quit my agency and now I just freelance at various agencies. However I miss a big monitor and want to buy a refurb 24 incher.

There are none in stock though, how often do they usually show up?

Refurb ACD came in today! It's perfect. This is a poor iPhone photo, but I'll post better pics later.

And just for grins, there's a pic of my setup at work... even though it's not an ACD.:)

If that's the 24" Dell it's the same as mine and I love it. Nice and wide!

How do you find the ARC MacBook stand? I fancy picking on up but I have to have the lid of my MacBook open or the WiFi speed is greatly reduced!

Actually, it's a 23" Dell (SP2309W) that I've had for a year. I must say, after having used a 16:9 monitor for a year I find the 16:10 of the ACD a little off-putting. The quality of the Apple panel, however, may have me switching setups and bringing the Apple to my office where I spend most of my time. The resolution is higher on the Dell and the ability to tile wider windows is something I'll miss with the ACD. I may have to try using spaces.

The BookArc is really cool, but it's really more about style than anything else. While it does keep my MBP off the desk, the main reason I got it is that it looks cool.

Anybody use their 24" ACD in a room with a lot of natural light? I didn't notice any in the pics. I'm thinking of taking mine up to my office, but I get a lot of sunlight in the afternoon. The window will be perpendicular to the ACD so it won't get any direct sunlight.

Just curious.

How do those of you with external speakers use them? I find the sound on the ACD a little tinny. Is it possible to set it up to use a hybrid of external and internal speakers? I'd like to use the speakers on the display, but also have a sub for more range.

You cannot use a hybrid of display speakers and external speakers (headphones). You have to pick one or the other.

Okay, so the ACD didn't last very long at my house. I underestimated the difference an IPS panel can make. 40+ hours of usage a week at the office vs. 5-10 hours a week at home = simple math.

Ha - I have two 2209wa's that I'm thinking of taking to work and purchasing a 24" ACD for my home. I still have to convince the wifey. :D

Unless you'll use your ACD a lot at home, don't be surprised if its time away from your office is short in the world. ;)

I'm thinking of buying a 24" ACD, but I have one major dilemma - I really want the viewable areas to match up PERFECTLY (it's a huge pet peeve of mine to have the viewable areas mismatched on monitors). I currently have a 24" iMac, so I know I will have to adjust the height of the 24" Cinema Display to match the viewable area of the 24" iMac. So, my question is this - does anyone know if the viewable areas on the 24" iMac and the 24" Cinema Display are the exact same dimensions? I know they are both 1920x1200 but I can't find any mention of the exact measurements.

Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I'm happy to say my 24" refurb arrived last night. I forgot how amazing this display looks.

I've taken my (2) Dell 2209wa's to work and my 24" is now settling into its' new home on my desk at home.

I will try to take pics this weekend.

Cheers.

I keep checking online but they have been sold out of the refurbished ones all week. When did you buy yours?
