Example, with all the surveliance and snooping of phone calls they can't tell or intercept when jacks dad is on the phone WHILE IN CTU? Another thing that bugged me is that they basically gave him free reign with no guard, with how secretive the operation is supposedly i can't see him being allowed in, let alone allowed in with no escort or without stripping him of communication devices. Heck i cant even walk in to my local govt. office here without surrendering my phone because it has a camera on it.

Because he have no reason to snoop on Jack's dad. They think he's a "good" guy.

I think the problem is Buchannon, worst CTU overseer ever!
Honestly, He tells Jack he will change the report to division? No other boss didi that. Oh, Milo, you think Chloe can't work, ok, oh, she can just walk around CTU for a while then. Oh, Chloe, you think Morris is ready to come back to work, ok, no debriefing necessary after he was tortured by terrorists?!?!! Jack's dad, would you please just walk around through CTU and do whatever you want for a while, thanks.
I thought people had to have passes to come in CTU, and were escorted the whole time.

The one thing i dont care for is that it seems like every season it gets more and more unrealistic as the writers struggle to pull a season of writing out of their hindquarters. Don't get me wrong, i love the show and it is 1 of the 4 only show i watch on a regular basis but its just head shaking at times.

I guess they have to do certain things to keep with the plot, but at times it gets a bit far fetched.

I still like the show, and i will continue watching, just a bit of a rant. Keep up on the spoliers, yesterday you guys on the east coast were lagging :p

Ed

You hit my complaints about these two hours right on the button. His dad walking around in the CTU building unsupervised and with his cell phone and access to everywhere else, I mean, seriously, that is not possible.

And Morris. When the girl took over driving, he should have overpowered her. Wrestle the gun away while she was driving. Point out that if she shoots him, her $7 million is gone. Stuff like that.

Or, while his head is in the bathtub, take a deep inhale and end it all quickly, without giving the terrorists what they want.

Or, program the computer to only arm the bomb once, then self-destruct the program.

...

And they can't follow a chopper on radar??

Well at first, he thought that she came to her senses and shot McCarthy that she was doing the right thing and taking him back to CTU. Whoops, he was wrong. He shouldn't have been afraid of their guns at anytime though - he was their $7 million. He could've done almost anything and they wouldn't have shot him. If they did shoot him, goodbye $7 million, and they could be sure that Fayed's men were going to track them down and kill them.

Or, while his head is in the bathtub, take a deep inhale and end it all quickly, without giving the terrorists what they want.

Yes! Exactly! Fayed says they could get someone else, but that would take a lot more time and set them behind considerably. That might've given CTU more time to find them before they set off another one. He could've at least died knowing that he didn't allow tens of thousands more innocent people to die.
And they can't follow a chopper on radar??

Another thing that makes you go .

How about the fact that the nuke has a visible, mechanical ignition switch instead of just a chip? Isn't that convenient! :p

It's a little late to be complaining about non-CTU people roaming around. That's happened numerous times before on the show.

They never really said if they were going to kill Palmer or just remove him via the provisions of the 25th amendment.

Nevertheless, it's pretty clear they're going to assassinate him. Do you think they'll try to pin it on Assad? It looks like it's going to happen around the time of his televised address.

(BTW, I didn't watch the scenes from next week, so I don't know if this scenario has already been elucidated).

And they can't follow a chopper on radar??

Totally. On a day when the FAA has grounded all civilian air traffic, following a chopper should be simple.

And that's IF he gets through the CTU perimeter.

You can't really enjoy a show like 24 if you're going to call out all the inconsistencies, but Fayed escaping so easily was a bit much.

There are a bunch of possibilities there. They did do the 25th amendment thing to David Palmer in a previous season though. And they have assassinated one president (Keeler) and a former one (David Palmer).

For a change of pace, maybe they'll force him to resign somehow. Lennox clearly knows a lot about him and could frame him for various things. It's interesting how now it looks like Lennox is not so much evil as philosophically opposed. He's a strong candidate to do something for the good guys behind the scenes or at the last minute, like Sean Astin's character last season. I still think one of the nukes will end up in Washington, DC, since so many characters are located there.

And this would be all be so much better if DB Woodside was even an average actor. James Cromwell has shown more acting skill in the last three episodes than all of Woodside's scenes in the whole series.

Part of the problem is that I have a pretty short memory, so plot details go in one ear and out the other, as it were. For example, I had forgotten that the FAA had grounded the air traffic, it was a detail that happened too many episodes ago...

inconsistencies in the story

Yeah, my wife and I were talking about these two - it's amazing that he could just walk around unhindered when his son just died while confessing to the murder of an ex-president. But the dad is so trustworthy that he can stroll the halls of CTU and escort his grandson home.

The big one though was the helicopter. Probably the only helicopter in the air and they can't even visually follow it? Too easy.

Aside from these "suspension of disbelief" items, a pretty good show. I thought Milo did a good job getting out of there, although I would like to have seen him grab a larger weapon than the handgun.

I also thought that the previews for next week gave an awful lot away, all things considered.

I was a little shocked to see him show some fear when disarming the bomb last night. Perhaps fear is the wrong word, but he was shaking, and afterwards had to recover a bit before going out.

Of course, within like 30 seconds he's back to being the old Jack.

What I don't understand is how Morris, after giving the bad guys the program to arm the nukes can just walk back in and start working at his terminal. In real life he would have been arrested and thrown in jail regardless of the coercion tactics used to make him give up the program.

It IS just a TV show :)

If you had someone with a drill bit to your head I bet you would do what they told you to.:p

I'm glad to see somebody else was just as fascinated with the drill bit as I was. Good times!!!! Jack might have to incorporate that into his little bag of tricks.

The show is all about suspension of disbelief (as somebody mentioned earlier). The show is so boderline, can that really happen or wtf that didn't make any sense b/c it can't happen. No matter what, it's a good show.

It's a great show!!

I traveled to San Francisco once just to attend a "24" party..hehe

Ratings:
The first half is the 18-49 demo,
Two hours of 24, with guest stars Chad Lowe and Powers Boothe, gave Fox the top spot in the primetime race Monday. The network scored a 5.0 rating/12 share in the key 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen overnights.
CBS was close behind with a 4.9/12 in the demo for its lineup of comedies and CSI : Miami (the highest-rated show of the night on any network, with a 6.4/16). New sitcom Rules of Engagement continued to do well in the 9:30-10 time slot, tying 24 for that half-hour with a 5.0/11. That was a bit down from last week's premiere numbers, 5.2/12.
NBC was No. 3 with a 4.6/11, but its Heroes was still the second-highest-rated show of the night with a 6.3/14.

ABC was in fourth place with a 3.5/9 for Wife Swap, Supernanny and What About Brian. Brian was just behind NBC's Studio 60 in the 10-11 time slot, with a 2.7/7 to 60's 2.8/7.
The CW got a 1.2/3 for its lineup of comedies.

overall,
NBC's "Heroes" has stabilized in the ratings, taking an 8.7 rating/13 share in Fast National numbers overnight, helping to keep NBC ahead of Fox's "24" in the battle of the high-profile series.
"24," which aired two back-to-back episodes, earned an 8.1/12 for the 9 p.m. hour, duplicating its rating from the previous week to hold third place. It was sitcoms in the form of "Two and a Half Men" and "Rules of Engagement" that took the hour however for CBS, earning a 10.1/15 and an 8.7/13 respectively, however Zap2it reports that "Heroes" actually finished with more viewers than "Rules" in the hour.

Against NBC's "Deal or No Deal" in the 8 p.m. hour, however, "24" did slightly lower in households, earning a 7.7/12, enough for second place. It beat CBS comedies "How I Met Your Mother" (6.3/10) and "The Class" (5.9/9) as well as ABC's "Wife Swap," which pulled in a 5.5/8 on ABC.

Thanks to "CSI: Miami," CBS was the ratings winner for the night, with a 9.4/14. Fox, capitalizing on a weak 10 p.m. airing of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" by NBC, finished ahead of the General Electric network with a 7.9/12 vs. NBC's 7.7/12. ABC finished fourth with a 5.3/8.

Episode 8/9

Meh, ratings.

Well those last episodes were terrible. What was stopping that woman from just telling jack what the phone call was about after she hung up?

Here's what will happen next: Milo will probably be killed, and Graem's wife (forgot her name) kidnapped. From there NO-ONE can tell jack that she was blackmailed. That's ok, because there will be a scene where jack will be telling bill that there was something else, she had a phone call and looked worried. He will then piece it together.

I take it you didn't watch the previews for next week, then?

Nope :D Phew, I hope I'm wrong, otherwise it will be terrible.
Link?
EDIT: Thanks emw

I don't have a link, but highlight to see what I remember:
They showed Jack confronting Graem's wife and she tells him that his father was behind it. They spent a lot of time on this in the preview, which was quite surprising. I think I recall seeing Milo alive, but I could be mistaken - I haven't had much sleep lately. They also show Jack's dad essentially telling his grandson that he'd just as soon kill him as have breakfast with him.

Daddy noooooooo

Well, spill it east coasters :D
Jack's dad had a chance to kill Jack, but instead he helped him. Left a cell with a massage saying call this number. Jack calls "Who is this?" It's ex-pres Logan. And he needs a shave.
More shocking or rediculous is they put a spoiler in the preview for next week which means it won't happen or something more shocking comes up.
