Two hours of 24, with guest stars Chad Lowe and Powers Boothe, gave Fox the top spot in the primetime race Monday. The network scored a 5.0 rating/12 share in the key 18-49 demo, according to Nielsen overnights.
CBS was close behind with a 4.9/12 in the demo for its lineup of comedies and CSI : Miami (the highest-rated show of the night on any network, with a 6.4/16). NBC was No. 3 with a 4.6/11, but its Heroes was still the second-highest-rated show of the night with a 6.3/14.
ABC was in fourth place with a 3.5/9 for Wife Swap, Supernanny and What About Brian. Brian was just behind NBC's Studio 60 in the 10-11 time slot, with a 2.7/7 to 60's 2.8/7.
The CW got a 1.2/3 for its lineup of comedies.
overall,
NBC's "Heroes" has stabilized in the ratings, taking an 8.7 rating/13 share in Fast National numbers overnight, helping to keep NBC ahead of Fox's "24" in the battle of the high-profile series.
"24," which aired two back-to-back episodes, earned an 8.1/12 for the 9 p.m. hour, duplicating its rating from the previous week to hold third place. It was sitcoms in the form of "Two and a Half Men" and "Rules of Engagement" that took the hour however for CBS, earning a 10.1/15 and an 8.7/13 respectively, however Zap2it reports that "Heroes" actually finished with more viewers than "Rules" in the hour.
Against NBC's "Deal or No Deal" in the 8 p.m. hour, however, "24" did slightly lower in households, earning a 7.7/12, enough for second place. It beat CBS comedies "How I Met Your Mother" (6.3/10) and "The Class" (5.9/9) as well as ABC's "Wife Swap," which pulled in a 5.5/8 on ABC.
Thanks to "CSI: Miami," CBS was the ratings winner for the night, with a 9.4/14. Fox, capitalizing on a weak 10 p.m. airing of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" by NBC, finished ahead of the General Electric network with a 7.9/12 vs. NBC's 7.7/12. ABC finished fourth with a 5.3/8.
