Picked up my i7 today. Yellow tint on the right hand side :(

Get a refund and buy a mac pro for a bit more. OK you need a seperate screen. But the next upgrade will be cheaper. you'll already have a screen (that works well) and you'll have the removable drives. Plus you can upgrade to more RAM and better graphics.

Got my C2D machine back today after having a 2nd LCD replacement done. Guys didn't comment on it this time just said its been replaced and "time will tell" if its fixed. They refused to change it last time but Apple over-ruled them.

Verdict? Worse than before in normal use. We picked up on the initial problem when viewing snowy pictures and then doing design work. But this screen is much more noticeably yellow on application windows. I have Safari, Mail and iTunes all open here and the bottom parts of each are clearly yellow.

Very disappointing.

Here is my story.

...
Eventually got the new one about 5 days ago (strange thing was the batteries were already in the mouse) anyway still had the problem.
...

btw: Batteries preinstalled in Mouse & Keyboard is normal.

Just to throw my story in here, 2 weeks ago I picked up my first iMac (week 3, 21.5") without reading anything about the issues prior to the purchase. When I brought it home I noticed the issues with the screen immediately. I had a few dead pixels and the yellow tinge on the bottom half. I returned it a few days later, the Apple Store gave me a brand new replacement which turned out worse. (it was a 09' week 52) I went in a few days later and swapped that one out, they gave me a week 4 this time. This one is just as bad. I'm at the end of my rope. I'm going back tonight and going to swap it out for a Mac mini and 24" ACD.

The funny thing is I looked at my local Apple Store's floor units and they ALL have the yellow issue. Even the floor units at the Best Buy near me have the yellow tinge. This has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever encountered. I don't expect LCD's to be 100% perfect, but this is a bit much, especially at the premium we pay for Apple products.

I just hope the genius doesn't give me any issues tonight when I say I want to swap for the Mac Mini and ACD. I'm done with iMac's this go around. When I eventually replace the Mini I'll make sure to do research beforehand to make sure they aren't having similar problems.

This is my display (iMac i7 from 2009 week 51)
Would you keep it or would you let it change?

Sorry to hear of your troubles. Totally unacceptable to have to endure 3 returns and STILL not get a proper screen. Clearly, this is a big problem and yet no resolution.

It's ashame that Apple has not appropriately addressed this incessant problem with their screens.

I have machine #5 (week 12) waiting for me when I get home. The previous 4 (weeks 5, 7, 8, and 10) all had yellow tinge (that got worse for each new machine), machine #2 had lcd inverter issues and machine #4 had distorted sound. The Apple rep. I've been dealing with even implied that I was responsible for these hardware problems. When my wife, who doesn't even use the thing, walks by and asks me what's wrong with the screen, I know then that it's not me being picky, it's Apple and their poor excuse for quality assurance on the production line.

Yeah the same thing happened to me with the reps implying that it was just me, and that I was being too picky. My wife, oddly enough, commented on each screen as well and she barely knows anything about computers as well.

I'm sure they'll fix this eventually, but it is a huge problem. When every single unit you get has the exact same problem, it's just ridiculous. I hate that they are just hoping that people don't notice and are continuing to sell these defective units.

I did not find any yellow in my screen. this is acceptable.

Then I won't bother to tell you where I see it.....but if I did, I would have said that I see it starting about the 2/3 point on the left lighter gray bar and extending to the end 3/4 of the dark gray bar and rising for about a third of the screen height at it's peak. :apple:

You are making me to look harder to find yellow...it would be helpful for me if you post ur pictures.....Thanks...

Yours is near identical to mine (week 46 of 2009 i5). I'm dealing with it right now, but will get it fixed if Apple ever figures it out....if they even can.

Um...that pic looks perfectly fine to me.

There is no pronounced yellow.

There is a slight variation in color from the top to the bottom, but you're not going to get any better than that with the current model.

You should just get a refund because if you need it to be absolutely perfect that isn't going to happen.

The color variation is notable in all the displays....by changing the viewing angle...we can have both look the same:))

The left one looks alright but I can see the grey band at the bottom. The right one is very yellow, like someone said, a screen that's been p!ssed on... (that Simpsons Mapple episode?). If I had either of those I'd replace them -- get a refund and hold out for the next revision, unless you've got the time to send them back, wait, and do the whole process again.

yeah, Apple Australia :)

Well thats pretty crap for Apple New Zealand to only compensate me with $50NZD when AUD is bigger then NZD and you get $100.

I can handle the yellow tinge on the replacement screen, I half expected that. What's more annoying are the marks on the screen itself which took an age to get rid of and even moreso, the few small marks on the screen which appear to be under the glass.

You'd have thought the 3rd time a machine goes in for the screen fault, under the instruction of Apple customer care, that the guys doing the repair would have paid a little bit more attention to the machine before it was picked up by me.

This doesn't freak me out AT ALL about picking up my iMac tomorrow after having the LCD panel replaced..

mjsmke from the UK mentioned a few pages ago that he was compensated £100. also in the US they're refunding 15% of the iMac prices in cash as compensation... they beat us all. lol

Man my compensation is the crappiest though 50NZD, if this one they send me is still ****, Ill ask for another replacment and a better compensation. The apple care guy try to persuade me buy apple care so a technican can come and look at my machine. I should tell them give me free Apple Care if you so want to come and look at it also + 50NZD atleast lol. I think with these problems Im definitely gonna buy apple care when i settle down with one of these imacs before the first year warranty runs out.

Tell them you have been a loyal Apple customer for several years and have put a lot of time and money into the new iMac. I said to them "None of the iMacs a acceptable. Are you forcing me to buy a PC? What can you do to keep me within the Apple community?".
