That shows you are still on "processing items"....The same as the rest of us lol.

Next to processing items - status changed today from processing to available to ship ....

Im not saying it shipped, but any change is good, no???

It says Available to ship in 2-3 Weeks.

It was available to ship 2-3weeks from the beginning.
So tell me why doe it change after a week and a day to say the same thing??
But indeed still processing :s
We will see in the days to come
I just wanted to post the change

I was laughing after Dustless posts the screenshot for a good while.
Then I looked at my own order status, it changed from
'Dispatched in 2-3 weeks' to
'Available to ship from 2-3 weeks'.

I have no idea what the difference lies between the two.
But doesn't matter.
;)

I think Apple is playing around with wording and layouts in the order status screen. As noted a couple days ago, my screen doesn't have a cancel button and other parts are different than most people's, and yet another person's screen was slightly different from mine and everyone else's. My screen has said "available to ship" from day one, never said "dispatched".

I agree.
It really doesn't mean anything until the status really changes.

I ordered 3.04AM EST Nov 30th from Brooklyn, NY, paid my $30 for 2 day shipping, and got a delivery date of 21-28 Dec.

This is all supposition and guesswork and I offer it only as food for thought...

- The Cancel Items on Apple's Your Order page is to do with your Credit Card company's practices.
- Everyone will be at stage 2 "Processing Items" until the shipment from China clears customs in Long Beach, CA.
- Only when the units are in the hands of UPS will we get to stage 3 "Preparing for Shipment".
- 21-28 Dec for a standard 5 day delivery implies the shipment arriving in CA. around Friday 14th. Then say, 2 days to clear customs, and get to UPS on the 16th.
- Therefore: if all goes well, and Apple undershoots the deadline they've promised, first deliveries of the 27" iMacs will come between Tuesday 18th and Friday 21st. :)

Good theory, except that's not how it has worked with preorders (such as iPhones) in the past. When it has been built, it will switch to "preparing for shipment." Your tracking will show it to be in China. It will seem to sit in China forever. Then there will be a flurry of tracking updates, it will show as in Alaska for customs clearance, and then it will hit the normal channels. If you have next day shipping, you will be amazed that it can get from A to Z so quickly.

The only part I'm watching is where it says "Processing Items"... when that changes to "Preparing for Shipment" I'll jump up and down

Changed my order to the flash ssd. Thought I'd be able to squeeze it in before the end of December. Looks like it will sometime "January". Sucks, oh well. Happy regardless. Just excited to have computer.

Good for you! Flash ssd is the way to go ;)

"Available to ship" and "dispatched" are interchangeable depending on which Apple store you are on.
For example if you check your order status on the USA store, it will say "available to ship 2-3 weeks". If you check on the UK store it will say "dispatched 2-3 weeks". I am sorry but there is no change to your order status.

In fact I'm very much like you in that I have no interest in keeping up with the guy next door. I too tend to keep my tech until it becomes almost antique. I do however like to get the most current model at the start and not see it replaced within months which is what I think may well happen this time. I also think that the latest iMac launch is one of the worst managed events in a long time by Apple. Because of their almost cult status they now take their customers for granted.

I'm very much different than you in that I don't call everyone who buys a new iMac now crazy based on the supposition that a new version will be released in months, when in fact we all have no idea when a new version will come out. Many of us thought that the 2012 model would be out in the summer, and that turned out to be completely off-base. Maybe the next model will be out in months, maybe it won't. Either way, it just doesn't matter that much to me, and it clearly matters a LOT to you. But I'm not going to call you crazy simply because it matters to you. There's nothing wrong with being mad at Apple because you think they will release the next version in a few months, but I just don't get the need to call people names because it doesn't matter to them or because it matters to them and they buy now anyway.

While I agree that this particular launch could have been handled better, I disagree that Apple's inability to be perfect or to do absolutely everything the way customers want them to means that they now take their customers for granted. They're certainly not infallible, and my personal opinion is that it isn't fair to expect them to be.

Also, why on earth would you even attempt to argue with a woman? You know you can't win, right? You may be 100% sure that your point of view is the correct one, but you still can't win. By virtue of my gender, I have the upper hand and you might as well concede. ;)

Update: My husband just read this and said, "It's too long. You need a headline that says, 'You're wrong and you're stupid'." I pointed out that this directly contradicts what I said in the post about calling people names. He said, "Yeah, but it's concise". That, in a nutshell, is why men can't win an argument with a woman. For every one reason a man has, a woman has 34.
