haven't posted before but my first time because i want to support you! i've been reading this thread from day one...if this is really true....i'm going to get my new IMAC 27 ASAP~~ :D thanks so much!

Thanks for pointing that out x. Im still skeptical though. I know HDMI can do audio, I have it plugged in all over my house. But I didnt think the miniDisplayPort on the iMac could accept audio. Maybe Im wrong... Ill have to check Apple's site, unless someone else can chime in here...

I do know generally that MDP to HDMI adapters can carry audio (such as when you hook a Macbook up to a HDTV). That's output, not input, but it shows that MDP is capable of carrying an audio signal. Seems plausible to me that a HDMI to MDP adapter could do the trick in reverse, but like most I'm waiting to hear the results before buying anything.

Want to know has anybody tried it? Any lag?? Thanks!
Is it already in stores so someone can purchase it? As far as I know it hasn't been... My package is ready for delivery. And then have to work the whole day... :) But then! I can test it!

@flare389: When will your adapter be delivered?

I got mine just some minutes ago. The cables that are included are not that very long. I'de rather say "very short". The diffrence between the 24" LED ACD and 27" iMac package is the diffrence in delivered cables with the package... My guess would be that you can probably order the 24" version and buy a loose cable from Dr Bott that is 1,8meters or some other quality cable...

But what gives. I hope the HDMI cable I have at home is long enough or else I have to move my xbox. We'll see.

Can't wait to see what happen!! If it work then I will order one immediately!!

Thanks guys for trying..:D

Yes! I spoke to the supermediastore sale person on their online chat. It's free shipping within USA. Unfortunately they do not ship to my country. Hoping to get someone from States to purchased it for me. This website is selling it too : http://www.tekserve.com/store/414/HDMI/-6323.

But wanna know the results. And pls do let us know about your Dr Bott Digital Video Link!
I believe it is just as good as Apogee's. And much cheaper too! ;)

Looking forward to your results orange.x
You should plug a freebie from them with the amount of sales you could generate from your post results.
Best of luck with it.

can't wait man can't wait, THANKS!!!

I dont even think Im going to buy this but for some reason I am watching this thread like a HAWK! HE GONE!

Anyway, Im eagerly awaiting news on this as well, especially from an audio standpoint. I think we may still have to run a tosh-optical between the console and the iMac in addition to the HDMI adapter.

Hi guys :D Good news :) It works, with sound and it looks awesome.

I made already some pictures, gonna make a movie now. Are there any suggestions of what i need to show?

@The PS3 question, it has to work, there is no technical difference between the output of a PS3 and an xbox360. They are both HDMI out, so should work like a charm!

I'll tape the connection, then the switch, show you the sound works via the adapter, and some in game footage. And maybe a close-up.

Wow, quality is a bit bad... i'll upload the other movie with better quality another time :)

Long time reader of this thread - been monitoring it since day one - but first time poster! Thanks for doing this orange.x - really appreciate it. It's the one thing that has always stopped me getting an imac - plugging my 360 into a 27" imac would be amazing!

EDIT - just watched your video. Looks perfect. No lag, sound via the DP too. Looks like I'll be getting an imac then!

One question - do you know if the imac sleeps or anything like that when the DP input is being used? Or is it basically just on as normal while you are using the 360? Not that it matters that much - would be nice if used less energy when just using the screen but to have an imac and be able to use the amazing screen for something else is great!

Well, I'd say: place an order :D

The quality of the movie isn't that great, so i'll upload it now with my iMac :) Don't even know it's working? Can't find the video on my iPhone...

Maybe Ill be buying this afterall. Thanks for testing orange. The quality of the YT video isnt the best but the quality of the XBOX pic on the iMac is surprisingly good. Thanks again.

I'm already uploading the full movie with much better quality. It was just to prove it works WITH sound :) I must say they have made a really nice product :)

Thanks Orange. This is what we've all been waiting for. Thanks for taking the initiative.

Great video, thanks for doing the work and posting it up. One question, if you have speakers or a pair of headphones plugged into the iMac does the sound come through them? I wouldn't see why not, just wondering though.

Thanks!!

Well done orange.x, hats off to you. That is great news, all i need now is to be able to purchase one. How did you get yours? I have tried the website but no luck there!

I tried it, not a bad idea to test, but indeed, it's pretty obvious that it works :) I still need to plugin my speakers but that became a second important thing. Still rearranging the stuff in my little room :) Need a place for my xbox still. I guess I will order a long HDMI cable and see if that works, or I have to deal with the xbox on my desk... Which isn's that great because the fan is still a bit loud when it's out in the open :)

I bought mine at a dutch webshop. The Netherlands is next to Germany so it wasn't a surprise that a dutch webshop is now a reseller of the Dr Bott adapter. I searched the webstore, www.atstore.nl if they would ship to countries outside The Netherlands or even Europe, but I can't find it. So I guess they don't. There is a contactform on the website so you can ask if they would..

I see you're in Dublin, so you can order stuff from the UK without any trouble? You should try http://www.drbott.info/Reseller.html and find a reseller over there.
For, I guess, US people you can use http://www.drbott.net/product/9598-DGVL/ and see if you can order there.
